The devices are usually pretty good all-around but the major issue is the OS, Android is such a horrible OS. Been using iOS for many many years but recently decided to give Android a try being open minded. Tried it on an S7 Edge, overall a great phone but overall again what a horrible OS Android is. Used it for almost a year would not go back even if they offered me free phones and paid me to use it. The other major issue with the OS is the apps quality for the most part is horrendous I call them ninety-nine cent Chinese programmers. The phone is now used as a bathroom clock for many months, it has a great feature where the sensor turns the clock on when it detects motion and off when nobody is around. I'm going to sell the phone before it's worth a bag of peanuts but wonder if I can find a clock replacement with the same feature that is USB re-chargeable. Anybody seen one?

What the actual hell.

While we are at it, why not 8K or 16K screen resolution?

Bring it on! I don't care what they say, there is a noticeable difference above the "magical" retina-PPI. 4K will be a breakthrough. It's just taking awhile to get there.

Doesn't entice me to try. I am happy in my Apple ecosystem.

"I like my bubble and I'm sticking to it"

iOS is lacking compared to android.
Apple make some good products though.

Fine if you're ignorant of that fact but it would be nice if all the ignorant people would at least not say stuff like iOS is better. Don't pretend "you" know... and be so loud about it.

Why should I leave an ecosystem that has been meeting my needs for a fragmented ecosystem that doesn't readily work with my Apple devices? That is not logical.

iOS is not lacking for me. If it was, I would be entertaining other venues.

It’s not bad. Doesn’t look like it changed much from the S8. I like the colors in general. Kind of something I would like to see more of with the iPhone - not those hideous plastic 5c colors.

Anyway, on my first look, I didn’t care for the camera and sensor right in the middle of the back, but after looking at it a few more times, it disappears into the functional look of the phone. Kind of like how some people feel about the notch. Plus, it’s on the back and who would be looking at the back of their phone all the time? The front is how I wish the iPhone went with the slim top and bottom bezels creating symmetry to the front.

Still not quite it, something is still off about it. Can’t point to it at the moment.

2018 and they still have ugly bezels at the top and bottom

Better than a notch in any year IMO.

Beautiful as it gets with phones. Less bezel than the notch botched iPX. This is the right way to do minimal bezels.

As an owner of every iPhone since gen 1 and current owner of the X I completely agree.

Well if the rumors are to be believed, you'll get your wish later this year.

I'm not sure how the Apple ecosystem is "woefully inadequate". I use it all day everyday and it's great. I'm all-in and maybe that's why it all works so well.

Admittedly, I may have exaggerated a bit. But if you’ve ever done something like move a file that’s managed under iCloud Drive — one that has unhelpfully been automatically offloaded from local storage — you’ll be bummed. Or, say, you want to share a folder with people that don’t use iCloud. Or, for example, you want to concurrently edit a file in one of Apple’s own iWork Suite, good luck.

Photos works pretty well. Apple Music, particularly the matching side of things is scarily bad.

Year by year I get more tempted to switch to another phone brand. This one looks okay. I mean.... my iPhone lives in a rear case all day long so nobody sees the back of the device. I’d get the same for this too so it can be fixed. Making it possess a pretty front AND back, unlike the iPhone X that seems to only have a pretty back.

My word I can’t get over the ugly notch on the X. I used to be so quiet about it until fanatics here were rude over another’s opinion. I’m happy to hear they’re winding down production on it and that it’s not selling so well. Hopefully their next phone model they’ll decide to have a bezel at the top rather than that unwieldy, ridiculous notch.

I don't care for Android, but that is a better design than the horrible notch.
Same. And I have a feeling this is 99.9% of the opinions of everyone here too. Apple buyer for literally decades but feel they’ve totally lost the plot now with that X design. Yuck!

Bezels? really? Thats a mark of distinction? Samsung has stolen AND innovated an excellent device. They are quite good. The issue isn't the bezel, its the OS...which still is 2nd rate. iOS is far superior. Bezels, indeed.

5.8" on the smaller phone? Jesus christ... who's got hands that big?

You’re supposed to pray when you wanna talk to God.

And the beat goes on... “Android is better because it isn’t Apple.
No Apple is better because they were first!” (We all know Apple isn’t first at anything! Except maybe getting it right!)

Haha!! I bet that comment will get some blood boiling....

I can hear the thumbs pounding glass now!

iCloud Drive is the only Apple ecosystem feature I don’t use - I have to have a Dropbox subscription. It’s good enough for most people, just not power users.

The rest of it is perfectly fine though.

As a Samsung S8 owner I'll be very excited to switch.

Iphone has:
- better quality apps that crash less often
- less noticeable slowdown form usage
- better ui
- better backup, phone location service
- an ecosystem with the macs

but Android has:
- properly grouped notifications instead of the iOS pile of garbage
- watching videos AS THEY ARE MEANT TO BE without the notch
- USB C to charge both my laptop and my phone, Apple is just a laughing stock with one half pushing the USB-C future so hard with the Macbooks the accessories can't catch up and the other lagging one year behind other phones with the lightning port
- ultra low power saving mode, when you can just call for 3 days on 10% charge
- "close all" apps button
- headphone jack
- customizable keyboards when you can ALWAYS have the letters and the number row on one screen, entering long password with letters and digits on iOS has been infuriating to say the least
- did I mention I got it for half the price?
- homescreen and app screens are different - meaning I have and alphabetical separate list of apps which I can drag to any of the main screens, very conveniet
- quick charging at 1.5x speed of iPhone X which also comes free by the way
- I can see battery percentage on top
- If I turn of wifi or bluetooth from quick access, it REALLY turns off. With Apple, turning off WiFi or Bluetooth just drops the current connection. What's the point?!

In conclusion - sorry Apple, you need to try harder.

Honestly the pros outweigh the cons in this list. The cons seem like minor inconveniences compared to the entire OS and apps being better and faster as you say.

Priorities I guess.

Haha...all the important stuff is on your pros list and a bunch of personal preference, nice to have are on your cons list.
