I got a free battery replacement for my 6S long before the throttling brewhaha. Apple actually already had the program (for the 6S).
Does Samsung offer free S9 for S8 owners?
Not sure what that has to do with your comment. You said too bad people have to buy a new Samsung to fix the fingerprint placment issue.
Well there were people out there that bought a new iPhone due to the whole battery debacle. Just because you received a free battery doesn't mean anything

Not sure what the iPhone battery issue have to do with my comment in the first place, so I just played along.
Keep going.

i don't like the clock on the lock screen.

Not as nice as previous Samsung phones, but maybe it comes in different colors.

Now that phones are primarily just screens with cameras on the back, there's not much to physically distinguish one from another. Yeah, colors, textures, things like that. But major design differences, not so much.

The primary distinctions moving forward will be in the technical specifics of he screens/cameras/etc as well as the software.

Samsung's two new smartphones will continue to use the same general design as the Galaxy S8 devices, with slim bezels and a near edge-to-edge Super AMOLED display.

....

Rumors suggest the Galaxy S9 will feature a single 12-megapixel camera with variable aperture from f/1.5 to f/2.4, while the S9+ will feature the same variable aperture 12-megapixel camera paired with a second 12-megapixel camera with a fixed aperture.

Ooooh I cannot WAIT to see all the hardware issues and warranty claims with a broken movin part = variable aperature!!

PS: Edited quote from article for focus as some on the boards hate large quoting even though by default the forums shrink the quote, but hey being nice.

Doesn't entice me to try. I am happy in my Apple ecosystem.

You, me and about 1.3 billion people in the world :D
I'm VERY happy about this Samsung news today, not that Android would entice me (I loathe the platform), but because now I shouldn't hear any garbage and unfounded hate towards anything Apple. I too have been vocal and skeptical, hoping Samsung would raise the bar and affect sales of iPhone X so that more tech and better pricing for volume would help us all as iPhone customers.

The wallpapers they’ve chosen seem uninspired. Same with the spilled paint iPhone X wallpapers. It’s really not a great way to sell an edge to edge display.

'Seoul, start your photocopiers, again!!' 'We didn't think they'd take the joke quite literary'
(to paraphrase a former Apple SW Executive genius).

5.8 is pretty small since its not as wide as phones used to be.

So Android Samsung users will need to be NBA players with LOOONG fingers to reach that fingreprint sensor.

Looks much better than the fugly iphone X.....good job Samsung but there is no reason to upgrade to the S9 if you already have a S8. The Note 8 does everything and will remain my phone until I see what they can do with the foldable display phones.

I thought the idea was to go bezel-less and full screen? Which is why Apple went with the notch. It's not a bad looking phone, but defeats the purpose if you have bezel both above and below.

I never liked the camera placement on the Samsung phones, it diminishes the design (and that goes for the iPhone camera bump as well) but I'm sure there will be a lot of Android fans who like it, and will buy the phone.

Oh yeah, and then comes the litany of who has the better camera videos and comparison articles which get old real quick. Not looking forward to that.

Man I'm with you on that.

This litany of camera photos, videos testing has been happening ever since SonyEricsson put the 2MP camera in their K750/W800 feature phones soo long ago, especially since the end user tweak community could tweak the algorythms and allow anyone to upload into the firmware. I think I dislike all the "unboxing" nonsense a lot more than the camera forformance comparison ... so much so that if I see a teenager in the public try to record an unboxing my hand will twitch uncontrollably under will power to keep me from smacking hands!

Samsung originally planned to release this phone in an add immediately after the super bowl halftime show and the purple color was supposed to pay a tribute to Prince.

And that is EXACTLY why apple designed the notch the way they did. I don't care what anyone says, I am sure it was a deliberate move to make sure anyone looking at the phone knows its an iPhone. They had an iconic look for 10 years and now they had to make sure their phone didn't end up looking like all the rest. I am still not happy with the decision Apple made there but I suppose whenever I upgrade from my 7 I will get used to it and stop caring.

Side bezels look thicker? Fingerprint scanner still looks like it’s difficult to reach.

The devices are usually pretty good all-around but the major issue is the OS, Android is such a horrible OS. Been using iOS for many many years but recently decided to give Android a try being open minded. Tried it on an S7 Edge, overall a great phone but overall again what a horrible OS Android is. Used it for almost a year would not go back even if they offered me free phones and paid me to use it. The other major issue with the OS is the apps quality for the most part is horrendous I call them ninety-nine cent Chinese programmers. The phone is now used as a bathroom clock for many months, it has a great feature where the sensor turns the clock on when it detects motion and off when nobody is around. I'm going to sell the phone before it's worth a bag of peanuts but wonder if I can find a clock replacement with the same feature that is USB re-chargeable. Anybody seen one?
