Installed: Speck CandyShell for iPhone 4

I had emailed Speck, about the flash issue, before I read this thread and it was only a few days ago so I was wondering when I should expect a response? How long did it take from some of you to get a email back from them?

I got an email within the hour during business hours. The guy was FAST in responding. I mean scary fast. Did you email them on a work day during work hours?

i picked one up from the at&t store friday and love the case itself .. what exactly is this haze flash problem that everyone is having with the candy shell? been trying to find pictures of the issue through this thread but didn't find anything.

i'm patiently waiting. nearly a couple weeks since i first contacted them. hopefully another week or so. the pixelskin case is working well for me in the meantime.

So I got the generic response about them working on it, but they said to get the replacement, I need to mail my reciept in to an address they gave me.

you tell them what you want, i posted what my email stated, and I had the choice of selecting what I wanted after sending them my order confirmation. the last option was which color I would have liked.

Yeah I just got that same email, but it says to put what case and color you have, not which one you want. I guess it's worth a shot anyway.

I really hope my replacement is better than this first one, flash issue, the rubber is flaking really bad and the rubber is separating from the plastic and the thin plastic piece on the bottom has cracked already. I've only had it a couple weeks or so and have only taken it off maybe 3 times.

I had none of these problems with the Candyshell on my 3G. It was one of my top 3 cases.

I guess it's still 2-3 weeks out for black and purple. Longer wait for the rest, I assume. I got an instant reply to my email that had all my info on it.

Yea I see that now. I sent all of that in my original email so I guess I thought they weren't taking it that way

ah sorry about that, misread it but still requested the same color for me, black shows scratches hella quickly though. should have gotten white but the AT&T website didnt have it so i ordered the black one. ya try and see what happens, doesnt hurt to try. doesnt really show on the confirmation email I got what color i got.

Yeah I want to get the white one to see what it looks like, but I have this CrankBrothers Sticker in white so I stuck with the black but now I can't put it on till the revised cases arrives! The black scratches so much that on the 3GS version I used a magic eraser (white eraser came in the cleaning kit for white macbook) and gave the case a uniformed scratch look, like a brush aluminum but on black plastic.

I don't take any responsibility if anyone tries this and does not like it, but hey you have a case that is going to be replaced so go ahead and try it!

I dont suppose you have a picture/ can take a picture of the case you did it to? And what "magic eraser" thing are you talking about lol? The only thing that comes up in google is that Mr. Clean thing .___. lol

Sorry phones was sold with the case, and te Mr.Clean one is the same thing but this one came in the iKlear kit from the Apple store.
The Mr.Clean one is probably cheaper but the exact same, essentially just a super fine spongy buffer sponge. Do not use on any screens! Just in case you wanted to do this to your 3GS bezel do not use on the screen.

and here i thought the mr clean thing was just a regular sponge lol So what do you do just keep rubbing it on the case over and over again like sandpaper?

Yeah, in the direction of you liking. I just wiped downward till it looked consistent. But like I said you may not like how it looks so don't blame me.

Im so gonna blame u jk. If i understood correctly it'll give it like a brushed aluminum look just... plastic instead of aluminum

Now it will still take scratches so this isn't a permanent fix, unless you swipe it or "sand it" all the time. But then if you do that the rubber part wears faster and gets flakey looking sooner, unless u avoid "sanding" those parts.

I think I am just going to put a big sticker on mine when it comes, cause the sticker scratches less than the case. Or I could put a case protector on the case! Just kidding

Does anyone who already has this case for the iPhone 4 know whether or not the phone can still be used with docks or speakers like the Bose SoundDock?

I saw a thread on here about a half year ago where someone was obsessing about the condition of his case. He decided to cover his phone with invisible shield, covered it with a case, and got another set of IS to cover the case. I found it hilarious

My black CandyShell is scratched to hell. Doesn't bother me. When you hold it in the light you can see its been through hell and back. Scuffs and scratches. The other thing that bothers me is the rubber is peeling (flaking) in all 4 corners. I hope that is fixed in the revised version. The 3G CandyShell never did that on me.

Just bought the i4 and installed the PixelSkin in my phone and the CandyShell in my wife's i4. I got to say that I'm really dissapointed with the i4 version of the PixelSkin. It seems too loose on one side and the "pixels" don't seem so grippy as the 3G/GS version of it. However the CandyShell is almost perfect, it works great, it is light and it not that slippery when in hand. Now i'm counting the days until I can buy a CandyShell for my phone.

Man really? I was hoping to get the case this week. It should have been ready because they said 2-3 weeks from the day after or two days after the iPhone 4 was released
