A few things:
I would love Apple to get back in the router game also, but that's another discussion.
Wireless speeds currently are fine for devices that need wireless access. What I would love to see is better management of wireless spectrum, especially in dense environments with lots of other networks/RF interference.
6E helps for this as 6Ghz is both fast, and can't travel far, so you are less likely to get interference from neighbors also using 6E. Sure you'll need more access points to cover the same amount of space, but since walls will effectively kill the signal you won't have to worry as much about channel overlap.
As others have said: If it's important, hardwire it. No one should be trying to do real home networking over wifi. Sure it's ok for moving internet around the house, and slower overnight backups, but real home networking (NAS, etc) needs a hardwire or you will be miserable. Try streaming 4K from your NAS to a Plex Device over wifi. Nope.
