What is relevant is not to update your phone when it's needed for use because you never know what's gonna happen.
And for some people, they always need their phones so you never have a time when it is not needed. Also, what is the point of allowing the masses to have access to betas if the major bugs and quirks aren't resolved prior to releasing it to the general public?

On a 94 MB/s WiFi the 6s update has taken 27 minutes to Home Screen and the iPad-4 update has taken 1Hr 20mins to Home Screen.

6S+ Over the air update for me went smoothly. No problems here. I closed all the running programs before updating just in case.

So, iTunes is downloading 10.0.1 and I randomly got the error message saying it can't be updated, yet it's still downloading 10.0.1. Do I need to wait until the download is finished and keep trying to force an update or is it confused at this point?

Same here!

MacRumors should've taken a 24 hour poll, because a few pages in I wanted to ask who this wasn't happening to! Of course I didn't see this thread until after I started the installation, but everything updated on my 6S Plus over wifi with no issues. Guess I got lucky.

is plugging into itunes supposed to finish the 10.0 install? its offering to update to 9.3.5 when i say update which i was already on and its slowly downloading the ipsw. says its going to take over 3 hrs and I leave work in 45 mins so downloaded the ipsw at home to try when i get there (it downloaded in a few minutes there)

WTF :mad::mad::mad::mad:

It just happened to me.

My Mac Mini is at home and can't run the newest iTunes. I did a icloud back up this morning so I'm good if I gotta restore it but WTF am I supposed to do now? Go to an Apple store?

I knew something was off when it wouldn't verify.
And it let you install still? Again, is the verify process even working?

It's a goddamn miracle you've kept it alive for such a long time
My boss still has a 3GS, he hates upgrading anything. He still working on a Windows XP machine...lol..Ok, not really.

So what do you do if you don't have a computer to connect to, to fix this?
Apple Store?

Having a great laugh reading the iOS 10 Is Here! thread with all of the
"Oh boy! Can't wait!" & "Downloading now11!1!!1" posts,
while anyone who said: "Don't do it now. Wait until it's stabalized"
was castigated as being a "hater" and a "troll". lol

Have fun skipping over to an Apple store with your $800 paperweight giving a sob story
about how Tim said this was never gonna happen again, while the in-store Genius
just shrugs their shoulders, then gladly assists you in ordering a refurb replacement ....

That'll teach ya not to learn from history:
DO NOT DOWNLOAD iOS UPDATES THE INSTANT THEY ARE AVAILABLE
Got it now?
So, how would we know if there were issues with the latest release if no one downloaded and tried to install. So, we all would wait a few weeks longer to get the same issue. This is the very first time I have ever had issues with OTA update. All my other updates on all my other phones worked fine in the past, why would it not work good today

Love the way Apple just ASSUMES everybody has access to a Mac or a Pc running iTunes....

They've spent the last number of years telling us that its not necessary, with updates and set up directly on devices and the iPad pro being 'a computer'... I know many - particularly older people that i know - who ONLY have an iPad. That IS their computer. They'd be COMPLETELY screwed in this situation

keep trying to UPDATE not restore.

The new iOS 10 update, released today, appears to be causing problems for some iPad and iPhone owners who are installing it over-the-air. On the MacRumors forums, we're seeing multiple reports from users who have attempted to install iOS 10 and have had their devices put into recovery mode, requiring a restore.

It does not seem to be limited to a single device, but most reports from iPad owners are coming from those who have the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, which has had trouble with new software releases in the past. Multiple iPhone models also appear to be affected, including the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6, and iPhone SE. From MacRumors forum member bit_bucket: Users who have their iOS 10 devices bricked by the update may need to do an iTunes restore if the update fails, which will erase all data. Some users have had their iPhones updated successfully through iTunes after the over-the-air update has failed and haven't needed to restore, but it has not been successful for other users. Here's the message users are receiving:In light of the installation issues some users are facing, those who are concerned about their devices being sent into recovery mode and bricked should hold off on downloading the iOS 10 update over the air for the time being until more information can be uncovered.

It appears iOS 10 installs through iTunes are not affected, so that remains a viable method for obtaining the iOS 10 update today. Ahead of installing iOS 10, either over the air or through iTunes, a backup should be made.

Update: Apple has given a statement on the issue that caused the iOS 10 update to fail over the air, and says it has now been fixed.

"We experienced a brief issue with the software update process, affecting a small number of users during the first hour of availability. The problem was quickly resolved and we apologize to those customers. Anyone who was affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for help.
