Thanks for the attention! You made my day! Wowza!
Or in other words, you.
It'll be interesting to see just how much coverage will be true mainstream rather than "technology section". So far, the leaks have only made it into the latter on the BBC ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-41220517 ) but all publicity is good. Look forward to a lot of journalists saying either that they predicted the announced features or else how Apple confounded other peoples predictions. The story will be on the front page of the main news sites (Sky/BBC) on Tuesday, it won't be the top story (why would it be, there are hurricanes and earthquakes going on in the world) but if it was Samsung/Google/LG etc it wouldn't even warrant a mention.
The GM software was intended for internal Apple developers and close partners/carriers to test out. It was hidden behind a long random URL.
This URL got sent to MacRumors and 9to5Mac.
There was zero legitimate reason for this leak out. All eyes were already on Apple for September. Apple wants full control of the narrative to sell the story about facial recognition. Just as Tesla doesn't need to leak Model 3 or Model Y specifics, there was absolutely no reason for Apple to leak this GM.
The people who think this GM was leaked intentionally have no idea what they're talking about. They haven't worked day in a large company with a public affairs and external relations department. In their mind, they think letting a guy named "Rambo" reveal A11 is quad-core is part of Apple's master plan.
I'm more curious how Reachability is going to work with no home button. Tapping the "wake/sleep button" is a far hand reach considering the purpose of Reachability.Anyone else wondering how to take a screenshot? Or how to lock the phone?
Still trying to comprehend how intuitive it'll be to use ApplePay with FaceID. Right now I hold my phone onto the terminal with my thumb on the touchID. I just can't fathom any method that's more fluid or as intuitive. Am I now expected to hold the phone over the terminal and then back up to my face to authenticate and then back to the terminal to complete the transaction!? If so, then they just took a page out of the CurrentC method, the very one that died before it could even go live.

So true. This guy leaking things like diarrhoea out there, I did not know him before this. Now I do, and not glad to know him! In fact, would have been prouder and given a huge shout-out had he just posted this much, that someone sent him a copy of iOS GM, and he is not going to give details but has reported things to Apple to sort it out.
I know it’s my own fault as I’m not forced to read these articles, but it is really annoying and is all too much. I will be avoiding them in the future. Lesson learnt.
Gruber wrote:Well-known Apple blogger John Gruber said on his blog, he almost sure the iOS 11 GM is deliberately leaked. He mentioned that this is not a mistake, but a reckless Apple employee malicious. But no matter who did it, he would be the most unpopular people in Cupertino, CA, More surprises were spoiled by this leak than any leak in Apple history.
As far as I can ascertain, "someone within Apple" is conjecture, not fact. Even without guessable keywords, it's simple enough to poll the domain and build a list of new URLs, then review these pages for unpublicized job listings, betas, etc.As best I’ve been able to ascertain, these builds were available to download by anyone, but they were obscured by long, unguessable URLs. Someone within Apple leaked the list of URLs to 9to5Mac and MacRumors.
said person registered on forum focusing mainly on rumors and leaks lol. They should at least take away the licenses and memberships of everyone involved in the leak. Set a precedent that if you leak the software out of our campus, we leak you out of your job. If you leak things out of our software, we leak you out of your developer membership.
Possibly even litigate. Because people today have absolutely no regard left when it comes to ethics in such matters. Just for likes and viewership/ readership.
That iPhone X looks gorgeous, but I'm sooo happy with my little SE...
Not gonna spend 1000€ in that phone, but the revised AirPods might be a good company for my SE, don't you think?
They're mega delusional if this is a PR stunt. You don't simply use a leak to misdirect and gain publicity especially after claiming to double down on secrecy. That's a BS contradiction. If Apple wanted to leak, all they simply had to do was create 'teasers' or sneak previews just like they did with Homepod. How HARD is that to create teasers?
It's incredibly douchy and asinine to create a leak as a PR stunt. Not to mention a waste of time and effort. After all, does one think Tim Cook is that devious enough to pull that when he would look like an idiot spewing forth that iPad Pro is a PC replacement?

I'm really gonna miss Touch ID if it goes. EG; At a drive-thru I can stick my arm out the window of my car and pay using Touch ID really quickly and easily. With this new facial recognition system it sounds like I'd have to get out of the car and look at the phone to make a payment. Hmmm..

Why stop there? Why not go after the websites that report information based on the leaks? Oh wait....They should at least take away the licenses and memberships of everyone involved in the leak. I could see it being somewhat common practice for companies to leak info about upcoming products. I’m not saying Apple is behind this or any specific leak, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they were behind some of them. I don’t really see it as devious or “douchy” as long as they’re not complaining about leaks while also doing some of the leaking. Either way, like others have said, these rumors & leaks generate a lot of hype and publicity for their products.
