iOS 16.1 Beta 3 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

I couldnt take it anymore of iOS 16.0.2.

Finally updated my daily 14 Pro to Beta 3 and battery is looking better now.

iPhone not warming up either.

Anyone else having issues with shortcuts not running with time-based automations? I have 2 that should run, one at 6am and the other when I shut off my wake up alarm. Neither is working currently. The shortcuts they are supposed to trigger run just fine on their own if triggered manually.

Reported it yesterday but just curious if others are seeing this.

Not sure if this is related or relevant, but all my time-based Home automations were simply not triggering. (They'd be fine if I used "Test This Automation," but nada when the time came for them to go themselves. I deleted and rebuilt them all, and now seem fine.

Some people have been saying that the 'rain' widget' hasn't been working on the lockscreen - mine has been showing 80% chance of rain today here in my area and yet it hasn't rained once today since 06:30 this morning?!!!!

This is driving me nuts but have repeated the issue multiple times.

I have two devices - 13PM (AT&T) and 1+ 10Pro (Mint Mobile) - iOS 16.1 and Android 13
My daughter texted me a photo (from an iPhone 12 ProMax).
In Messages I selected the photo and selected Copy.
I opened another text Message to send it from my 13 PM to my 10 Pro.
Pasted in the photo and clicked send.
The photo shows up in the outgoing text like I had sent it to myself after about 10 seconds. It never made it to my 10 Pro.
I verified the phone numbers were correct. Deleted the text, created a new text and tried again.
Same result.

From my 10 Pro to my 13PM it works just fine. From iOS to Android - thud.
I have tried typing in the phone number. I have tried selecting it from Contacts.
SMS works fine. MMS only to iOS, not from.

I can send a photo to my son (Galaxy Note 10) from my iPhone and GF (Flip3). This appears to be an issue with just my number. I am wondering if it has something to do with Contacts,

80% chance of rain in weather parlance means that 80% of the forecast area should see rain at some point during that forecast cycle. So either you may be in the (un)lucky 20% that may not see rain at all or it simply hasn’t happened yet. Check the hourly forecasts in the Weather app to see what time you should see rain.

Mine currently says Mostly Sunny yet it is drizzling outside.
Hasn't been right in a while.

Yeah, I know you've been having issues since the get-go. As I said earlier, that was semi-acceptable during the betas leading up to the release of 16.0. They no longer have that excuse and need to have it reflect reality, which it clearly is not doing for you. You have my blessing to rant about this! 😉

Keep in mind the forecast area may be quite large, and it might indeed be mostly sunny a mile away but drizzling where you happen to be.

My standard forecast area is like a 5 mile circle around the airport.

Sorry to disagree but that is incorrect. Here is a quote from someone who has a doctorate in Meteorology.

The 'chance of precipitation' forecast gives the chance that some measurable precipitation occurs within the given period. It does NOT represent the area that will be covered by precipitation, it also does NOT represent the amount of time that it will rain for.

As an example, 35% means that precipitation would be expected on roughly 1 out of 3 days that have this forecast.

Note: A 50% chance of precipitation does not mean forecasters do not know whether it will rain or not. Infact, it rains in about 15% of the time in the UK - so a forecast of 50% means it is much more likely to rain than on a typical day.

I live in a smaller coastal town in Cali.
The rain I could see. Mostly sunny? Chuckle.
Android, my Nest Audio, MS (Edge), and local weather get it right. iOS .... not for a while now.

I noticed an unusual bug; sometimes when you tap on a message in Mail, the previous message you read opens instead of the new one you tapped.

Sadly I stopped being able to reproduce it, suggesting it was a momentary bug. I'm going to submit a Feedback anyway, but just wondering if anyone else has seen it.
 
I have an iPhone 12 recently upgraded to Which has a physical SIM card. After the upgrade I’m prompted to setup esim, which I don’t have. And the message doesn’t go away in the setup app on iPhone. Anyone else notice this?

I may go and get an esim just so that I can get rid of the warning message. 😂

It’s a feature, not a bug.

Is it just me or does Safari just suck in 16.1 betas?

stage manager: crashes every load
predicative text and autocomplete: broken
pasting cross device: broken

i could go on. I know it’s a beta, I’ve come to expect broken things in betas, I get them to give back to community and report bugs, but wow, it’s buggy.
