Just restarted my phone this morning, I always do the day after a new ios, and no password request either. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see it again, this is one that frequently pops up at one time or another
I have never had the issue before iOS 16 and its been with me until 16.0.3 - fingers crossed its a good perm fix as it bugged me!

I HAVE AN IPHONE XS MAX I UPDATED TO IOS 16.O.3 AND IT STILL IS HAPPENING.. WHY HAS APPLE ALLOWED THIS TO SLIP THROUGH THE CRACKS AND WHAT CAN WE DO GUYS?

WELL ITS ALL OVER TWITTER AND OTHER WEBSITES…. ITS A TERRIBLE BUG!
OK WE ALL SEE YOUR POSTS YOU DONT HAVE TO YELL ALL AROUND USING UPPERCASES. I USE GLASSES BUT COULD READ EVEN lowercases EASILY.

/s

My few cents as I had this issue when by mistake blocked one address from Apple related to iTunes (licensing probably) in AdGuard. As a result I had to retype password in App Store.

Doesn’t you use VPN (with kill switch) or Adblock with dns which might block it at some point during startup?

i’m using quad9 DNS. I tried other DNS’s and they are same.

16.0.3 did not fix this issue for me. And Apple Support did not give me any update with my case.

Hopefully 16.1 will fix this…. Cross fingers. i can’t test 16.1 beta at the moment.

Hi all,

i recently updated my iphone 11 pro to ios 16. Now, every restart, it asks for the apple id and password.

i tried entering the password, it accepted. After restarting, its asking for the password again.

i did the below and it did not work:

sign out and in in itunes store
sign out and in in app store
sign out and in in game centre
sign out and in in icloud in my phone in settings.

reset network settings.

nothing seems work….
Have a look at iMessage. It also has a separate login.

Didn't do anything for me either.. problem still persists... and I just realized by canceling or ignoring entering my apple ID - my 11 ProMAx will not backup to my mac until I enter it.

I have an Xs max I updated to iOS 16.0.3 and it’s pretty much flawless. Not sure why this would be happening to you.🤷‍♂️

Yes, I have restarted my phone multiple times. Pretty much flawless on ios 16.0.3. Don't know how many people this bug is affecting beyond MacRumors, but I do not have this issue.

IT‘S A HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE BUG. HOW CAN WE GO ON LIKE THIS? I HAVE TO TAP CANCEL AND IT GOES AWAY. OH THE HUMANITY;)

Don’t feel bad😃 I did have it occur twice when I first got my 14PM. But have not seen it with the last 2 restarts this week after the update. Haven’t had any other issues either

Well I know 4 of my coworkers that also have the same bug. So it’s very common.

Anecdotally many of my coworkers, family anns friends are on iOS 16 and some sporting iPhone 14 PM. I would have heard of some had this bug.

I empathize with your lack of an “apple experience “. But that’s the nature of bugs.
Dude you are from another country . This is an apple USA iTunes authentication bug. Of course it’s not happening to you . 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have no idea of what that bug is. My phone was updated over the air.
I first saw this occur when I initially activated my 14PM after it got that first 16.0.1 update. I participate on the AppleSeed beta discussion forums and mentioned it there. I’ve only seen one or two respond that they had experienced it so it’s not widespread.

And after my phone got the 16.0.3 update it didn’t occur and it didn’t happen the next day when I restarted it as I always do after a software release. And still no further reports over there. The 2 times it did occur after getting my phone I just hit cancel and it was gone without having to do anything else. As a very minor bug that only appears intermittently to some people this isn’t much to bother about.

It's much to bother about if it happens every single time you start up your phone.

And how often do you do that? Normally I only restart once a week. And it has only been the apps and media purchases Apple ID for me. One tap once a week is not a bug I’d give any attention to.

Daily. And that's enough. It's a bug that wasn't there prior to 16 and it needs to be fixed.
