This happened to me for a few days, then (happily) stopped happening.
It honestly happens to me every time I restart the phone. It always comes back. BTW this never happened one time on iOS 15, or iOS 14..This happened to me for a few days, then (happily) stopped happening.
You are absolutely correct it was never there prior to iOS 16. Where has the quality control gone at Apple, this is insane? By the way it’s still a bug on iOS 16.1 this is crazy.. Do Apple software engineers ever read this or do they just not even give a crap?Daily. And that's enough. It's a bug that wasn't there prior to 16 and it needs to be fixed.

According to other people in forum and Reddit 16.1 still has sadly not fixed it 😭😭You're not alone - my wife's iPhone XS on iOS 16.0.2 does the same exact thing.
Hopefully iOS 16.1 fixes things.....
I did a factory reset (erased everything) so its like my new phone. No backups used at all. So, from a totally fresh build the problem is still with me on my iPhone 12 at 16.0.2
Daily?!! Some people on here have said they don’t restart their phones more than every month or so. Some even say it’s only done when software is updated. If you’re having to do it daily you have more problems than this minor issue.
Not correct. Macrumors posters have reported that somehow if an app was purchased from a different Apple ID, then it can cause problems when the phone is updated. Not saying this is your situation. You are absolutely correct it was never there prior to iOS 16. Where has the quality control gone at Apple, this is insane? I have 2 Apple IDs/iCloud accounts. And the password request was popping up for the account that is used for app and media purchases and not the other account. It does seem to be related to specific accounts which also means that it doesn’t affect that many people and will probably persist for quite a while.Which would confirm it's an account problem, not an iOS problem. Did you try changing your password and logging out all devices?
It happens daily man. Like one guy said it’s when you turn back on your phone it’s mostly likely not connecting to iTunes store and it’s basically an iTunes authentication bug. It says you’re signed out when you are definitely signed in to iCloud.Which would confirm it's an account problem, not an iOS problem. Did you try changing your password and logging out all devices?
Yes, man many people turn off their iPhones 📱 every single night 🌙, or some people drain the phone all the way until it turns off and then recharge it!!its very much a case of each to their own here..
... but ill be honest before reading this thread I had NO idea people were routinely turning off their phones like this.
I mean, sure, if you are wanting to maximise battery life (i do this with my iPad when travelling and wanting to make the battery last as long as possible between recharges).... but as a phone is a primary communication device it seems strange to me to want to turn it off ever.
and NO, I am not tied to my phone... or social media etc etc etc - but in case of emergencies (which a phone is primarily) then I need to be contacted.... turning the phone off seems crazy to me. Of course I fully use what was once 'do not disturb' mode and lately sleep focus to ensure that while the phone charges overnight it makes no sounds or lights up unless an emergency contact phones me... and in social setting such as the cinema or meals out etc then i turn on theatre mode....
Bro its an apple iTunes authentication bug. It has nothing to do with the maximum number of devices with an account.. 🤦♂️Shot in the dark, no idea if this will help your login issues or not. I'm not having this issue myself, just throwing out an idea for those that do as it seems related to all your App Store/Music accounts and not iCloud accounts.
Have you all checked your devices list using the MacOS App Store or MacOS Apple Music App under your account info -> Downloads and Purchases -> Manage Devices, and remove any older devices you don't have anymore? Also, you can check your App Store ID using appleid.apple.com and under Devices, remove any old devices you don't have anymore.
I seem to recall there's a maximum number of devices that are allowed to associate with your account so I'm thinking if you have hit that limit, it may be the cause of your login issues.
Bro, then live with it and stop complaining if you're just going to puke on people trying to help.Bro its an apple iTunes authentication bug. It has nothing to do with the maximum number of devices with an account.. 🤦♂️
Turns out I lied… Just restarted, and it is happening again (or maybe never stopped?)This happened to me for a few days, then (happily) stopped happening.
Yep. That was me too! lolTurns out I lied… Just restarted, and it is happening again (or maybe never stopped?)
HOW COULD IT POSSIBLY EFFECT THE IPAD WHEN IOS 16 ISNT EVEN RELEASED YET.. 🤦🏻♂️ LIKE WE SAID THIS NEVER HAPPENED ON IOS 15 NOT ONE TIME!This is definitely a weird bug as its only affecting my wife's iPhone XS on iOS 16.0.2.
It doesn't affect her iPad nor my iPhone 13 Pro or iPad Air 2 (2020) nor my son's iPhone 11 nor his iPad Air 2 (2018)...?!!

Macbook runs a different software, and Ipad is still on 15.7 or earlier. The bug only seems to be present on IOS 16 so don't upgrade any more devices until the bug is fixed.Three devices. MBP, iPad, iPhone 11 Pro Max. Only happens on phone, only started upon installing 16. Still doing it.
