Happy Beta 2 everyone!

I’m not sure if this was on beta 1, but we can now spotlight search on the Lock Screen. As a big fan I love this change. Apple literally made the Lock Screen the new Home Screen. 😍

Pretty sure you can do this on iOS 15

Anyone having issues installing Testflight app on apple watch with this beta? Had no issues in B1 (having developer mode enabled) but in B2, with or without dev mode, it says installing, then just stop. Multiple reboots/uninstall/reinstall, same behavior.

Haven’t seen this one before.

➡️ NOTE TO ALL ⬅️

Guys and girls, as advised by Craig F himself, if a couple of hard restarts doesn't fix a minor issue/bug your having, then if possible, on a Mac reinstall the iOS and 90% of the time most little issues sort themselves out. WiFi connectivity, over heating, blah blah, stop being a pain for you.

DON'T just sit and wait for beta 3 to arrive thinking your issue is wide spread enough or a common bug thats on Apples radar. Because you will probably be disappointed come B3 when it's not fixed with another poor OTA update on top of another (potentially).

Use the IPSW file for your phone to reinstall and get a clean install on your phone, it can make a difference and what Apple (Craig) advises 👍🏼

(Method. No data is lost. Always encrypt back up regardless to Mac. Use Finder + option button + check for update button = manually selecting the beta you're on, IPSW file for a reinstall. Takes 10mins.)

This really can make a difference and stop any suffering or annoyance until the next beta. If your bug is still present, good chance then it is a bug that will be fixed in the beta cycle, but it was worth 10 minuets if it did go.

At the moment it seems that both the watch and the phone the second beta is working normally. The only thing I've noticed is that the battery seems to run out faster, it's not something exaggerated, but it shows. On the mobile, the other times that had happened to me, updating with the ipsw file solved this, but for now I have to wait. I see the OTAs as less trustworthy than the update with ipsw.

Safari seems to work excellent for me I’m using iPhone 13 Pro. Left couple tabs open and come back to them couple hrs and they stayed the way I left them, no refresh. Bloody happy with that. I hope it stays like that with iOS 16.
One thing I want is numbers on keyboard instead of 123 back and forth. Please Apple!!

When you long-press on a word on a web page in beta 1, it used to come up with a ”search web” option instead of having to select “lookup” then “search web”. Does anyone know if there’s a way to add it back or is it gone completely?

I installed all betas as a restore (without restoring data and settings) and have had only a few issues, so starting fresh is probably the best way to go!

i'm just testing up the new. Dictation features. The smart punctuation works pretty well. But every once in a while. It adds an extra period where it shouldn't. Even that last sentence haha.

It seems more aggressive with that than in beta 1. Maybe we should say full stop instead?

Personally, I don't see the value of having a second iPhone battery indicator when there's one on the status bar at all times. I have it showing my Apple Watch battery on the lock screen. It looks pretty nice.

Remember: what you’re looking at is for the iPhone 14 always on display. They may not “light up” the status bar symbols for that. In that case the Lock Screen widget is what you’ll see if you glance at the phone

They removed the "Posterboard" app you could access in Shortcuts to play with (a very early and broken) version of the custom home screens on iPadOS. Might mean nothing, might mean this one isn't going to make it to iPad in the iOS 16 cycle. Be a shame if doesn't as I'm really enjoying this feature on the phone and watch

Or it might mean that Apple plugged a hole in its system and doesn’t want to allow users to configure devices using what is clearly a development “app”.

It could still be there in some form, or temporarily removed, but I'd bet we're not going to see that Home Screen customization in iPadOS 16. You can call me out on it if it appears later.

My iPhone went from 94% to 0% overnight, not sure when it died but it did. I went to bed at 11 PM EST. It is now 7:13 AM EST. I didn’t expect this.

Edit: 13 Pro

Just to clarify my earlier post. It works like the "Background" mode of the Watch photo face, just weirdly and intermittently

I had this beta 1 but the other way around, I wanted colour but some would show as black and white, re-adding the photo fixed it for me but did take several attempts.

Oddly enough I've been unable to reproduce this, even with the sane set of pictures, since earlier today. Much like the iPad wallpaper/focus customization, was it a feature half-added, or half-removed? We'll find out in later betas! That's the fun of running them I think.

Its still way too complicated to only set a home screen wallpaper and not set a picture for both lock screen and home screen. They really need to simplify this or they'll have tons of complains when iOS 16 will release. Its ridiculous to have difficulty just to set a separate wallpaper for the home screen.
It’s pretty much the same process as before. Users can still go to Settings/Wallpaper and set the homescreen wallpaper.
