Well AD continues to work flawlessly (through every AD update) on the laptop where I reinstalled W11 but made no changes to Windows security yet continues to fail on my other W11 laptop where I locked down security.
It’s definitely worth looking into but I think if one of those settings were the thing blocking it from working it would consistently block it from working 100% of the time

I appreciate the pointer and possible lead on why things don’t work, but I’m fairly confident it’s Apple Devices and not any of these settings that are affecting things, as these settings have remained the same throughout the successful attempts at using Apple Devices… and the not so successful attempts. I think it’s well established that Apple Devices just sucks.
What’s the point of complaining in thread after thread—especially when there are 'well-established' methods to update that work just fine—if you’re going to refuse advice whenever it’s offered? Give it a break, dude.

The only reason I’m not jumping on the RC is that battery life running 26.3.1 on 17PM has been spectacular! I’m talking about over 8hrs SOT with only 55% battery used. Crazy!
I had fantastic battery life on 26.3.1 on my 17 Pro. But I took a chance and installed 26.4 RC and, for me at least, it’s working out really well. Battery life is still great, best since I bought the phone, typically one hour or more of active use for each 10% drop in the charge level. Performance is smoother than on any previous version of iOS 26.

YMMV of course. It wouldn’t hurt to wait until the public release, especially if you’re having a really good experience on 26.3.1.

It's important to bring up issues when needed, bud. No need to live in an echo chamber where everything is perfect. However, submitting feedback is far more effective than bringing up issues here.

There is a massive difference between reporting a legitimate bug and spamming every single update thread for months with the same complaint while refusing to try any actual fixes. Pointing out that repetitive behavior isn't about wanting an 'echo chamber,’ it’s about preferring productive discussion over endless venting. No echo chamber, pal.

Anyone having issues with Voice Over Wi-Fi? Since the first beta of iOS 26.4, it keeps deregistering, even during a call, often resulting in call errors and silent calls.

Air and iPad Pro 11
Safari
Slow loading of initial tabs is back for me. More noticeable on the iPad.

On the Air the animations are smoother but slower. Sigh ….

Update: had to re-edit this entry twice. Spell check was changing words on save - Air became For, it capitalized Animations. Go figure.

I wasn’t complaining, just asking if anyone has tried it and can weigh in. That type of discussion is kinda the entire point of this thread. I got no reports of success with this IPSW so I’m going to be the guinea pig and try it right now. Wish me luck!

Not really. This thread is iOS bugs and fixes. What you’re complaining about is Windows 11 issues very likely since there are others who’d been using the crappy AD without any issues as well. The only solution that you believe would work is complain about it here for months and blaming Apple while trying none of the workarounds anyone has ever given you.

To put it simply, you’re expecting a miracle without lifting a finger. Not how it works, so at least keep that talk out of these threads and create your own. We come here to share issues and workarounds. It’s annoying to see the same thing over and over. Please create your own thread and stick to iOS-related issues here after you actually installed it.
Thank you!

Great news! installation of 26.4 with Apple Devices appears to have been successful. Total time from the initial selection of the IPSW to being presented with the unlock screen was about 21 minutes. For now, Apple Devices is safe to use for installation of 26.4 RC

so far I have attempted to contribute to the technical discussion in this thread and the pursuit of science, it is sad to see some who can offer nothing but WHINING over critical and constructive discussion.

I did notice another issue with Apple Devices, I initially checked for an update and it told me that my phone was already up to date. This is a lie, as I was coming from 26.2, and there have been other iOS releases in the meantime, but no biggie as I was planning to shift-update to this RC IPSW anyway.

Shortly after updating to 26.4, Siri seemed to change her behavior when asking her to “turn on the bird’s TV” - this is a shortcut I have that links to a HomeKit IR blaster (actually an Aqara G3 security camera) and it sends a command to, well, turn on my bird’s TV. Usually that’s what happens, but after the update, saying this only resulted in Siri returning results for shows about birds on Apple TV.
The behavior seems to have straightened itself out, but it was very frustrating for about an hour post-update.

So far this RC has been rock solid on my 17 Pro. By far the best iOS 26 version - as it should be.
So good to have the keyboard fixed/improved finally. Typing and also the auto correct seems to be much better in my experience over the last days. Can’t recommend enough to update to this version - or at least to the final public rollout next week.

Weirdly enough they seem to have screwed up the swipe to your type in the prices process. A lot less accurate than it was before. But I’m happy for all of you guys.🙄

For me swiping works more or less in the same mediocre way as before.
At least typing is much better. More fluid, it corrects better. Still far away from being the best keyboard you could imagine but there is a noticeable improvement compared to a lot of iOS versions before.
