Does it ever occur to you that things you dislike may be liked by other people who also happen to be Apple customers??

But a lot of things could be added to the settings menu to create options that would satisfy all users.

This is one thing that, despite being a huge fan of all things Apple, I've always disliked about them. Where is the customizability?

Why can't I choose in the settings menu whether or not a sound is made when you swipe to unlock? Why can't I pick the number of app icons on my screen, and shrink them down to fit more per page?

I totally understand uniformity and its benefits for a company. But I feel as though Apple could allow their users a little bit more flexibility to be able to make their UIs look them way we want them to look.

Just seeing the settings screenshots side by side convinced me that the original design was easier to "work." I recognize that, even today, not everyone immediately recognizes play, stop, pause; but, identifying symbols work for me. The updated icons caused me to look into the color to decipher the function and I began looking at the words to see if that sped up comprehension. With the blue icons on a white background, I quickly understood that row's function and wasn't even reading the text.

opposite for me -- my mind immediately identifies, say, airplane mode, due to its orange color, which is linked to it in my mind. just like colored VCR style buttons, etc...

I much prefer the power off bar and the call/end call buttons being all the way across the screen. Those colors seem so much more flattering when they're not rounded, if that makes any sense.

Totally agree with this... like how they finally added a toggle for black & white grid view backgrounds in iTunes after everyone asked for it, and then took it away in the next iteration. Why? Apple has a great eye for UI design when they do it right, but sometimes I want some damn options.

No preview pane in month view, agenda view is hidden under the search option

Agenda view ? Do you mean List view ? It's there in the new Calendar, except that they changed the button from "List" to a search icon (because the search box is also there).

As for preview pane in month view, do you mean the limited view/list of events under the monthly calendar ? If so, I agree with you. But you can get a longer list in the List view.

Also looking at how they evolve Maverick, the new Calendar can be better integrated with (or embedded in) other apps. The same way it is integrated with Maps.

Because it would be harder to optimize. If you force a lot more icons in one screen, it will take more time and power to render the screen. Imagine if every third party app icon needs to update dynamically, your screenful of icons will be *****, and people will blame Apple.

Swipe sound ? [shrug] It may or may not come back. Apple may want to reserve the juice or resources for something else. Or it could just be a b5 bug.

Not all options are good. Sometimes less is more.

I think that each app should have the responsibility of informing the system whether or not Control Center should be accessible in the app, defaulting to yes. One switch to turn it on/off like this is dumb, and a per-app list would be jailbreak-style clunkiness.

Completely agree and I also hate how they removed "shuffle songs" from the genre page.

I used to go into Rap and just shuffle they entire library. They need to to fix the music player app ASAP.

You can still use Siri to do this. Just say "play Genre Rap" and it will shuffle the entire Genre. There should be an option under the Genres tab though.

Uh... Album view is under "More..." !
I think you can move the "Albums" icon to the bottom bar (for instance, replace the "Songs" icon). You guys obviously didn't play with the beta enough.

You are clueless pal. You obviously have no idea what we are talking about. Go play with your iPod shuffle for a while. Of course we know where the Album tab is. That is not remotely what this is about. The problem is they have replaced a great music app with one that looks and functions like it was designed by a third grader.

You complained about the Albums icon as if it's not there. It's there. And you can customize the app to leave the Albums icon at the top level too. You are the clueless one.

It's because you're not used to the new app. [shrug]

I use the Music app everyday. Got used to it. What's the big deal about being different from the old app ?

Now the missing shuffle in Genres is a bigger deal, even though I don't use it. Then again the Music app is supposed to have some new feature according to rumors ? ;-)

EDIT:
In fact, if you want the Album view, just rotate the phone. You can see all the Albums right away. That's your iPod Shuffle there.

It's even funnier that my Android is faster than my friend's iOS6 on iPhone 5. ....And I am not Android biased either so don't go there.

can you post the benchmarks? how did you tested it with your bare eyes?

What blows my mind about the apple scrolling smoothness is that they pretty much nailed it from the very beginning. Im not sure if any android phone is as good even now.

It's not. Scrolling is smoother ij iOS (browsing or just simple OS navigation), pinch to zoom is much more precise etc.

Bro those are just examples. I don't necessarily want more app icons on my home screen. I'm just saying that there are a whole lot of different things in iOS that COULD be customizable if Apple would choose to make them so - and I don't see why they never do.

There are customizable options in iOS ! I just mentioned one in Music app above.

You can't blame the fruit company for something as generic as not giving options. There are customizable options. They just don't make everything customizable coz that's fool's errand. The end result will be slow and buggy (like Android).

Your bad examples are just case in point.

Earlier beta's were showing full carrier names in the status bar, which caused status icons (like the wifi-icon) to overlap with the pill-shaped notification handle on the lock screen. This has been addressed in beta 5, by reducing the available width for the carrier name, that automatically scrolls marquee-style when the name doesn't fit.

The photos icon is the lamest most unrelated bs icon they could ever come up with for a photo app. I mean what the hell is it? A psycadelic sunflower? Color wheel? No one that I've talked to likes it at all.

I think it's both. I don't mind the Photo app icon.

The icon I like best is the Newstand one.
The icon I like least is the Note icon.

A clean & clear design was planned

Then everything became ruined with schoolgirlish colors and the idea of "improving" things just for the sake of change. Look at the settings icon! - It looks like the little machines in American sinks!
It becomes more and more worse.
Doing the Chanel thingie with usage of black and white only, would have been stylish and beautiful.

What's wrong with the Settings icons ?

The system icons are more consistent with app icons because there are 3rd party application icons in the Settings page. It will be consistent and structured.

The color coded system icons are great because they help to categorize the setting items. They also allow me to eyeball and identify the many icons quickly, especially when scrolling fast.

Plus the different colors give accent to any transparent or translucent view layered on top.

Does anyone know anything about the data usage? I've heard that iOS 7 beta 4 uses a huge amount of data.

What is a "huge amount" ?

The Settings app shows the cell data usage for every app. Doesn't seem "huge" to me. Just low MBs and some Kbs so far.
