I'm using this on my iPad and in comparison to the first beta release it's definitely feeling much better now, it's considerably smoother and many things just feel right.

I feel there's still a little way to go but overall it's much improved.

And couldn't you post to Facebook/twitter?

Count me as one who dislikes social networking integration. We've lived through Friendster, MySpace and now Facebook (which is beginning to show a decline). Online networking may transition to career focus, using the internet for job searching, education and career. I don't need Facebook and Twitter shoved in my face, even "if" optional.

My passcode lock timer automatically switched to "immediately" after updating ...

I still don't understand why GPS isn't in the top of Settings like WiFI etc.

People like me who wants to save battery life only enables it when I need to use it, and going through Privacy->GPS is just taking much time. How often do people go to "Cellular" or "Bluetooth"? I never touch these (always on), but GPS is activated several times every day...

So I have a question. I update my ipad mini 32gb att black, and now I'm seeing this keyboard on the home screen View attachment 426973 dark and non transparent, which I don't think I've ever seen before, but the white keyboard in safari and other places. Anybody else seeing this behavior?

Yea me, they did it to improve performance on iPad Mini, although it was already speedy :p

I hate the circles. They don't add anything. They actually make the icons harder to "read" visually. Give them a translucent filled circle background if you feel they need to be contained... but not this ugly / distracting outline stroke.

This made me chuckle. White on white? I don't mind the plethora of white, I do mind the lack of contrast between the white and navigational elements such as the faintly grayish white lines, etc.

I saw somewhere else (settings perhaps) that this icon has a light grey border around it. Perhaps that got missed on the airplay screen?

Poor Jonny Ive.

The first IOS7 Beta designs where a perfect match to his minimalistic hardware design. I really loved the integration.

Now a wild internet mob forced apple to make compromises in den IOS7 UI and destroy it.

Since nobody knows, my guess is that the first betas simply had placeholders for the UI and the iOS 7 UI is reaching maturity. I assume it would be difficult for Apple to manage it: "Nobody liked the <blah> screen in Beta 4 so what should we do about it in Beta 5?" and come up with a design and put it in. Or I'm wrong. :D

cant decide if i want to give up jailbreak for this version. anyone switch over and not regret it? or anyone that did switch and wish they didnt?

Maps UI has been refined; previously, search suggestions/recent locations appeared over a slightly blurred map, making them illegible. Now, the map is so heavily blurred you can barely tell it's back there, and your destinations are legible.

I'm betting Twitter v6.0 will launch with the release of iOS7. And that is probably the new icon for it, complete with a gui that is more inline with 7..
And Apple just happens to have access to the new icon now...

In iOS 7 beta 4, Apple changed Messages to display the first name and last initial of a contact in a conversation. With beta 5, only the first name is displayed.

This could be a problem. I have about 8 people named Chris that I message with on a consistent basis. I'll have to test this out to see how it's going to work.

As tempting as it is, you will regret it because I do.

That was introduced awhile back

But you can not view all the pictures unless you can see the convo. You'll have to keep hitting " older messages " to view more pictures

Why can't they update the Maps interface to be more beautiful / modern? It's really ghetto.

I need the buy the rose coloured glasses you own.

Oh please. We're on MacRumours. We're all Apple fans. I for one love iOS 7, and IMHO the only thing wrong with more modern iPhones was the software. Apple's hardware has always been second-to-none in terms of attention to detail and build quality.

You may politely disagree with what I said, but to imply that I've got rose-tinted glasses on just because I don't share your opinion is arrogant, to say the least.

I'm sure 90% of MR posters these days are afraid to seem like too much of an Apple fan, for fear of being branded an 'iSheep'. To quote Tim Cook: why are you even here?

Now I am getting excited. My one problem with iOS 7 was that there were no borders on so many of the buttons. It would seem that Apple is slowly adding thin borders or background fields to buttons to establish where the touch target is.

If they add thin borders around the buttons in the Messaging app, then I will totally love just about every aspect of the new design.

No need for bezels or shadows or gloss. Just give a thin border around the button like they did with the icons in the phone app. I'm a believer in touch targets clearly marking their boundaries -- I think the other way makes iOS look way too much like a webpage full of links.

EDIT: My other problem was the lock screen, but they fixed those problems in the last beta.

I cant stand where the OK button is when simple passcode is disabled. It's as if they ran out of idea / space and jammed the OK button right next to the dotted box
