Apple is now only the shadow of what it was.

Rather than investing massively in Developers to get robust OS8.1 & Yosemite, they do nothing with their cash.

It is the same with yosemite. With our I7 Macbook, it is slow and we often see the spinning rainbow umbrella & the program bounce all the time. It is UNACCEPTABLE have a downtime when my macbook Intel I7 launches Textedit.

Yosemite is slower to start than Mavericks. It is also slower to quit.

2 years ago, i would have never considered it but now i am enough about those Apple OS, its cloud and their problems too.

I see the day when i will switch to a Windows phone & a Windows 9 PC.

This is apples and oranges. Yosemite is beta. If you can't afford downtime you shouldn't be using it on your production machine.

I don't understand why Apple will not come out and acknowledge this problem and provide their customers with direction on what to do. I realize that there are some posts in here about how Apple is advising that customers restore their phones, but why hasn't this advice been posted publicly? That said, you need to be a somewhat tech-savvy to download the restore file and update it.

A majority of affected users to do not visit tech forums like this one, hence they probably don't have a clue about why their phones are broken.

Why is Apple so broken in how they're addressing this?

Being rather melodramatic don't you think?

Gosh, it's as if Yosemite is in beta or something!

All carriers issue this carrier update. What part of this is not sinking in? The issue affected the new iPhone 6 on different carriers, not just one.

Exactly! Again, all the carriers did not mess up at the same time. The reason why it failed with the 6 and 6 Plus is because Apple sent out the update too early. It's not coincidence that they all failed. It's because Apple failed.

So I have to do a clean install?

It takes forever to restore from iCloud and the backup to iTunes doesn't seem to restore apps and photos.

No, you don't. Use the 8.0 IPSW file as I noted just before your post. It was rapid and left everything in place.

k thx bye...

Anyone hosting this ipsw? Apple's CDN is slammed atm. :)

I assume someone will be fired over this! downloading the restore file, 2 days left! 11Kb a second!

This one all on Apple

Their usual spot on updates were mangled this morning

No excuse but to apologize, fix and release the proper update

Look, I class myself as a massive fan-boy. I've had every iPhone on release day, a selection of macs over the last decade and most iPads. But I have to say this is utterly ridiculous. How on earth was this released into the wild without this problem being spotted? It's embarresing and beneath apple.

Certainly hope they fix this issue quick. Id hate to call my carrier (from another phone) and tell them if they want payment for phone service they will have to talk to Apple.

Agree 100% This is a dark day for apple.
