T-Mobile Good to go

T-Mobile iPhone 6 user here, update went with out a hitch, good to go.:):):):):):):)

They fired Scott Forstall coz he was as strict as Steve Jobs. Steve himself cannot argue with Scott when something went wrong. Scott was a perfectionist. We all know it.

Yes because iOS 6 had no issues and maps was perfect. I guess that's why Tim apologized for it.

Yes, we all remember how flawless the Apple Maps rollout was.

this explains the server error when I tried to update my iPad mini (first).

...I downloaded only 8.0.1 for my iPhone 5 & iPad mini, by the time I tried to update iPad, I pressed update and it said 8.0 was the current update, iPad up to date. ...so I tried to do a (option-)restore to the 8.0.1 ipsw and it gave me error that my iPad wasn't authorized...geez...now it's stuck in recovery mode...should I wait, will update come out later today, or go back to 8.0?

Now I'm getting an error message when I try to update through iTunes with the ispw. This keeps getting better and better.

Yep. I finished downloading the ipsw just as Apple pulled it. Now it says my iPhone 6 isn't "qualified" (I forget the exact wording) for the update or something. So not only did the OTA update hose my phone, but the stopgap fix of reinstalling the update via iTunes has been invalidated. Heckuva job, Apple.

"It just works... Eventually"

^^ I was just thinking this....

First Bendgate now updategate. Whatever happened to the smooth system that just plain works

Off to keep my iPad Air on whatever it's on so that it just plain works.

I like how fast Apple delivers new updates in comparison to past. Shame they didn't test it properly :(

Never update business critical software straight away...

It wasn't w critical phone until another phone failed, this is a second phone which I didn't hit the update button on.

I was thinking of Forstall. But the important thing is Maps. ;)

I updated to 8.0.1 and now U2's album won't stop playing. Its blaring out of my iPhone. Looking forward to 8.0.2 to fix

I can't restore via iTunes. It just does nothing when I click restore. Tried the update method and it said my phone is not eligible for the requested build.

EDIT: Nevermind. Restore mode worked.

Supposedly Apple had already given 8.0.1 to carriers for testing last Friday. I'm sure Apple is pretty mad at the carriers right now...

How does something with such a strong correlation go undetected?

"Tim, Johnny, Phil, Angela, we want to update your iPhone 6 to 8.0.1...."
(10 minutes later)
"what you say? all 4 of you have lost cell signal and touch ID?"

like, WTF Apple?

Can't restore.

"The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build.". WTF.

Edit)
I downloaded ipsw file but, Option-Restore iPhone button doesn't work. After checking server, it displays "Are you sure...", then it doesn't display file section dialog. I guess Apple blocked the button now.

Waiting...

So if one ran the OTA and *bricked* the phone, then you can't try an iTunes restore because Apple have invalidated 8.0.1?
