Unable to verify update

It is not entirely correct to say that the update does not cause trouble. Even updating is difficult.
I got the following message after downloading, and no trick on settings, restarting (all combinations) will make me continue to install.

I suspect either broken file or that Apple has taken down verification service for the moment.

But can I delete the update file and how?

This is going horribly wrong for Apple. Some of the 'gates we've supposedly had:

1. It's-Too-Big-Gate
2. NoHealthKitGate
3. BendGate
4. UpdateGate

Disappointed

All of this negative news about Apple is disappointing. I was extremely disappointed by iOS 8, maybe it just wasn't ready for release. It doesn't run as efficiently as iOS 7 although I like the new features. My iPhone 5s and 3rd Gen iPad have been glitchy. I was waiting for an update to come out and now I hear that there are even more issues. Apple needs to slow down and get everything together and be patient. I'd rather wait longer for a flawless product than receive glitchy software.

I hope that whomever is responsible takes responsibility and ensures that this problem is not only fixed, but nothing similar happens again.

I am so glad I didn't notice that the update was out. I think from now on I will wait a few days after apple releases updates. Lately there track record hasn't been all that great.

I have the little red number 1 at the top right of my settings - indicating that the update is there and ready to download - how do I remove it or delete it??

Thanks!

Used iPhone7,2_8.0_12A365_Restore in iTunes to restore to 8.0. All is working fine.

Download file, open itunes, hold left **** down while clicking udate(PC users), and point to the above mentioned file.

All the carriers are to blame. They probably had iOS 8.0.1 for a few days and didn't noticed that you can't place a call?!
WTF?

UK iPhone 6+ with 8.0.1 updated OTA, it broke the Touch ID and phone service.

I did try downloading the 8.0.1 ipsw file, but Apple invalidated that as I was about to use it, so that didn't work.

So I downloaded the 8.0 ipsw file, used the shift and check for update (Windows 8.1), and reinstalled 8.0 over the top of 8.0.1. My phone is now working perfectly, no restore necessary.

You don't need to do a full restore to fix the issue. I did the OTA update and lost service/touch ID. I then downloaded the ISPW and did an option check for update. iTunes then installed 8.0.1 again without needing to restore my data.

I got the right IPSW but iTunes says its incorrect for my firmware...guess I'll be waiting for a fix. (6+)

I feel bad for those affected by the update but it was morbidly and comically fascinating to watch the previous thread morph from "Apple is great for doing this so quickly", "Only Apple would do this for their customers", and "This is why I love Apple" to "OMFG" in a matter of minutes.

I should have been working but I just couldn't look away. It was like a watching a train wreck in real time/slow motion. I had the additional theater of one of my co-workers tearing Sprint customer service a new one for, and this is a direct quote: "Trying to end my life" and "This phone is how I eat. If I can't make calls, I literally can't eat. You people are trying to murder me." He is wired beyond all reason.

Hopefully this will be resolved fairly quickly for everyone's sake.

Get off the phone and look after your health

I think that was the point of the latest update ;-)
