Pretty sure that number 1 is simply a new feature in iOS 8, at least in the first beta. We'll see if it stays around or if it might get modified in some way.

----------

Yes, you can. You can put your phone in recovery mode and iTunes will install the latest publicly available iOS version on it (7.1.1 currently). Then you can put on your last 7.1.1 backup onto the phone (since an 8.0 backup won't work on iOS 7).

----------

People can file their own bug reports at http://bugreport.apple.com -- you need to be a developer to do it, but you don't have to be a paid developer, there's a free version that you can easily sign up for that will give you access to that and some other things (just not the betas and all that).

Oh cool - ok, thanks!

I did this for one of my devices earlier today. It took nearly 10 minutes to restore back to iOS 7.1.1. I've never experienced that kind of restore sluggishness before and I am used to downloading betas.

A restore back to iOS 7.1.1.
Ah, yes, it's slightly different than doing betas since (in recovery mode) you basically let iTunes take care of it by finding and using the latest public version compatible with the phone on its own.

I kept iOS 8 for some of my devices and I have kept the dev preview of Yosemite. It seems to play nice with my stuff so far. Its the first time my git install didn't get blown away by installing OSX. I always install by golden master.

I've seen a few bugs

Notifications for emails not always appearing

Clicking on a notification doesn't always take you to the email

Clearing safari internet history doesn't work via settings, but works if you do it via safari

If you change the volume of a video e.g YouTube in a web page the sound will just go off.

Too many to list. I've had every single beta 1, and this is one of the roughest.

Battery life was horrid for the first day, but after some tweaking I think i've got it better now. Not seeing a whole lot of bugs except some re-springs in the Settings app every once in a while, and certain apps not working (1Password, Tweetbot are the most important to me).

On the lock screen when you slide a mail and press "Trash" the email don't go to the trash, it's still in the inbox.

Spotty bluetooth connectivity in my car (MyFordTouch). Disconnects on its own.

Bluetooth LE seems to be the real problem in this build. I use a Pebble watch everyday and it has 2 connections, Bluetooth and Bluetooth LE which both need to be active for notifications to work. Since installing the beta Bluetooth LE keeps dropping, rendering my Pebble useless.

So far... on a clean install and setting up device as 'new' :

- BT doesn't work with car [ 2003 Acura TL (won't pair or see car's BT - aftermarket) ; 2008 Acura TL-S (pairs as a phone, but not as audio) ; 2011 BMW M5 (pairs but that's it) ; 2012 Z06 (keeps popping ' connection unsuccessful ' ]

- Settings crashes randomly

- App store crashes randomly, especially when running app updates over cellular.

- Occasionally, unable to ' slide to answer ' calls [ worst bug ! ]

- Netflix crashes everytime!

- Amazon Video App freezes randomly, causing the phone to reboot.

- iTunes Radio App stops after playing 2 - 3 songs.

- Push Mail is inconsistent, at best!

- Weather App crashes randomly

- Safari is a lost cause right now, and Chrome ain't much better

- Scrolling within folders is inconsistent

- Keyboard freezes and/or doesn't recognize touch.

- Handoff with Yosemite is ehh...aka unreliable at this stage.

- Bug Reporter App has a mind of it's own!

That's all I could think of right now..

The good news is..

- Battery life is great ! :D
- I'm not using it on my main device [ testing on iP5S which isn't my daily driver ]

This release is more like Alpha than Beta!

OS 10.10 is a bit more stable. :)

Yeah I ended up reverting back to iOS 7. My car supports text message readout, and iOS 8 was preventing that from happening (presumably due to the buggy BT connection).

Not sure if these were mentioned:

I have a 5S (A1533), clean install, restored from backup.

-Emergency call doesn't work. If you try to select it nothing happens, and then you can't slide to open. You have to lock phone and then slide to open.

-Phone periodically has a black screen when I go to unlock it.

-Settings crashes often.

-Can't always dismiss notifications banners. Have to wait them out.

-Erase Data is turned off, but it still says data protection is enabled. Tried turning it on and off again but it still says the same thing.

(Is the iCloud photo syncing supposed to be working yet?)

My phone did this...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=OhT35ImLc3s

Everytime I tried to tap an icon it would tap 2 icons down to the right. And if the icon was all the way on the left of the screen I couldn't tap it at all.

I can't be the only one this has happened to.
I believe the whole "weird/incorrect touch response" thing has been brought up a number of times before by different people. In one case I think I recall someone mentioning that it might be related to zoom in some way--perhaps its worth trying to check the zoom setting (in accessibility settings I believe) and maybe toggle it on and off (and perhaps even restarting the phone after that) to see if that makes any difference. Just found one "article" about that: http://www.trich.me/blog/ios8betatouchscreenoffsetproblem/

Is there a Forward Option in Notes?
Do the controls in Control Center still play from last audio source?
And does Weather in Notification Center still giving vague descriptions?
Or messages/alerts disappearing from Notification Center?
Photos app still a mess?
Selecting/modifying a URL in Safari still a pain in the ass?

Anyone? Lol

Yup - works on my 5C, but not my Air.

Tap to top only works on my phone in portrait mode. In landscape mode on Safari, Mail, and Message it doesn't work. On these Apps in landscape the menu bar with clock and signal does not show up even when Safari goes out of full screen mode.

Have used every iOS beta and this one is definitely the buggiest. Just as someone mentioned already, it's more of an alpha release than a beta. Way to many bugs and crashes on my test devices to list them all out. Been busy filing bug reports with Apple pretty much all day.

How can you restore back to ios7 from ios8 ? - With broken power button....any other way to enter DFU mode?

ESPN app keeps crashing. Have had no luck getting it to run. Was hoping to set up the notification widget. Any one know if any apps have active notification widgets??
