"Today we're introducing iPad 2. All-new design...not tweaked, not marginal improvements."

What is not tweaked? What is not a marginal improvement? Please tell me how copying the back of the iPod is an "all new design"

Please tell me Apple..

Why do you say stuff like that to get your audiences hope up, when you're only going to reveal you're lying off your b-hole 3 minutes later?

Furthermore, I dont see why jobs thought it was necessary to show up for such a lame event. Maybe to save it ?

You my friend need to find somewhere else to spread your trollness.

Anyone who knows anyting about Apple should have expected just what we got. News flash- Apple is in this to make money. Hype drives sales and they are perfect at it.

As for all you folks saying iPad 3 in the fall, again I point to solid Apple history of 1 per year updates of products like this.

I swear. If the iPad 2 had cured cancer people would be in here complaining that it didn't cause world peace.

Or bring back the dead. :D

I say Sandy Bridge the next iPad. Illogically, the iPad should have better specs and cheaper than either MacBookAir and the next MacBookPro.

This is Apple's business strategy. Dish out a new model at least every year with just enough to make many want one. Then release the next slight upgrade about a year later. This is why they are making so much money.
Oh please, this is just pure flame bait. Can we all agree to just stop responding to such nonsense posts. Let's make a deal, no one should respond to this thread after this point.

The speed is irrelevant since no one will put out an app that won't run on the original iPad at least for a long time, (most apps aren't even designed for retina display yet) and there's no speed issues with the current iPad.

I've played graphically heavy games on both a 3G and 3GS Phone, which has a similar level of speed/RAM/GPU increases. Even though Hero of Sparta, for example, runs on the 3G its far better on the 3GS.

Come on people be nice. No need to get emotional about this topic. Actually, maybe this is part of Apple's strategy as well... LOL. Am I playing right into it?

Facetime is no gimmick. I use it all the time...from all over the world. My kids love to facetime with me, but their biggest complaint is they wish they had a bigger screen (like my MBP). The iPad's Facetime is actually the #1 feature I was hoping for. This will make calling home so much more enjoyable for my family while I'm overseas. For the same price, this feature alone is worth an iPad 2. Of course, I don't own an iPad 1.

Also, any iOS improvements will be able to take advantage of the more powerful iPad. With the launch of the A5 it should be a no brainer that the iPhone 5 will carry this as well. Since Apple likes all their iOS devices to carry similar functionality, expect more innovation to take advantage of the hardware increases on both devices.

I'm telling you... I want one too. I have no need for a new one and really don't want to shoot video with an iPad but its presented so well how can someone resist... LOL. Apple is great and their future is very bright. Stock is up to $354.16 +4.85‎

Ride that train....

You mean the ipad2 does NOT cure cancer?!?! Crap, I better consult my Apple fanboy manual on what to do here.

I admit I'm not that up on the device, but how do you call home on an iPad?

email. You register the person's email on Facetime and when you call the person through Facetime, it shows up as a Facetime call on the receiving iPhone. That's how it works on the iPod Touch and OSX Facetime.

I was pleasantly surprised by the iPad. I'm not surprised however, at these types of threads already appearing.

Kind of a stupid comment.

ahhh, that would be about everyones strategy in retail now wouldn't it?

Or it would be Ok folks, here's the first and last model of the Ipad!

Mehhhh, As long as I can run iOS 5.0 when it comes out on my iPad 1st gen ... I am happy :)

It so funny how some of you say this is just a small update. The thing was completely redesigned. This was a major update.

It's called a generalization....

I have no idea how many make impulse buys using credit cards but I am sure it is high.

Oh, kk, didnt people were that "smart"

Buying something month by month is so expensive, and you end up spending 1000 bucks on something that was pretty cheap

Don't want it? Don't buy it... Why are you bothered about how other people spend their cash, or how much Apple make?

I have to agree, while it leaves a little to be desired design wise, I do agree it has been redesigned in order to slim things down.

A few boner moves design wise though.

I question there insistence on using use an aluminum back, which not only easily scratches but easily dents as mine has on more than one occasion. Really really dumb.

Second really dumb thing is designing a case that leaves this first dumb design decision exposed to scratching and denting. At least the first case protected the underside as well as the screen.

Also, I suppose since they have all these displays already and probably on order for years to come, they saw no reason to do one dam thing about the total inability if using this device outdoors in sunlight. Oh, gee we forgot about that? Big drawback for many people. The exact reason I keep a Sony reader on hand for the beach and outdoor reading.

What else, oh, why no memory upgrade, what? we want to keep the price the same, what a load of BS? I would have loved to see a 128 version which would have come in at over a grand I know but many of us would have been interested in going for that.

Oh, and with the swing of an ax they virtually eliminated and rendered almost every Ipad accessory, useless, not one case will fit this model. That must make the accessory people totally crazy, now they have to make all new models, OMG what a PIA Apple is for these third party accessory folks!

Enough of an upgrade to keep Apple out there in first place. And enough of an upgrade to make the iPad 1 look like a brick by comparison.

These guys have mastered the art of Product Release management. They never give us so much oomph as to make the last version totally obsolete, but certainly enough shine and glitz as to make the prior version feel old.

Nice to see Steve up there as well. He didn't look so good but still....best wishes to him.
