Let's speculate on a product that comes out after the one that's not even announced yet!

Yeah, ok.

Wow Not a solid word on 10.7 Lion that is due this summer, but now we are getting "news" on iDevices that are two revisions away… the days of OS X and Prosumer Apple systems are going the way of the dodo…

The iPad 4 will recite bedtime stories in Jonathan Ive's voice.

LOL. As soothing as that would be, he'd probably reduce the stories down to the minimal gist.

"So, this girl tries to find a place and have a bit of porridge or something. So she goes and sleeps in these three beds, and a family of bears comes back and finds her! It was magical. The end".

$0.99 each.

I'm Motorola or HP or Samsung or RIM:

Flood the internet with false rumors and speculation about a new, even better iPad just 6 months from now, before iPad 2 is even released. As a side note, attempt to legitimize the 5"-7" tablet factor as something Apple will do in the near future.

...

I'm beginning to think that this recent wave of unsubstantiated rumors is an elaborate disinfo campaign from panicky competitors, most likely designed to buy them some much needed time.

I am thinking this is pretty close to the truth. We don't even know what the deal with iPad 2 is yet even though they are already busy making them. They know how to keep a secret. So it leads me to believe 3 is not much more than a twinkle in SJ eye let alone have a release date.

I have been saying a while I was waiting for iPad 2 but the truth is I don't have the money! If I had the dough I would have one by now. I would wait if the new one was not far off kinda like I did for the iPhone4. Then again maybe the price will come down on the old one...

Remember...

Everyone who missed iPad 1 waiting for iPad 2 needs to realize they could've been using an awesome product for a year, and that is WASN'T worth the wait.
Then they decide to buy anyway, and a few months later a completely superior iPad 3 arrives...and the ipad 1 owners upgrade and have the best...AGAIN.

That's what needs to happen.

I'm 50% kidding.

Chances are the iPad2 is only an iPad1.5.

Apple may have planned the retina display for the iPad2, but the sudden supply of millions of these screens probably poses a problem.

So iPad2 rolls out with minor adjustments to feed the update hungry crowd, but the real update would come with the iPad3.

Which makes September a pretty realistic date for a real update.

Oh man that sounds awesome. I hope apple once again sets the standard so android tablets follow since I prefer android over ios.

Well duh! springs to mind. Clearly the iPad needs a higher resolution display, clearly Apple are gonna want to put one in there ASAP, and clearly the technology is still too expensive/unavailable to make it realizable in the next couple of months. If they can get an iPad 3 out in September, I reckon they will. They have a lot of competitors chomping at their heels this year. If they can't due to technological or supply issues, they won't. I for one will not be buying an iPad 2, the low pixel density is my number one problem with the iPad. I do hope Apple manage to lock in supplies of high pixel-density displays and thus buy themselves another couple of years of tablet supremacy. (As anti-competitive as that sentiment may sound). And no, I still cannot bring myself to use the term "retina display". For the love of Mike!

According to several analysts, iPad 4 will have a higher screen resolution than iPad 3!
Another analyst says it will even have more memory.

How about a moratorium on iPad 3+ rumors until iPad 2 is released.

Don't get me wrong, I like rumors, but these ones really kill me....slowly.

Yea, I can't quite remember the last time rumors ran TWO generations ahead

The only way the iPad will move to a September launch is if Apple goes a year and a half between iPads. They aren't going to turn around and release a new one 6 months later when the 2nd gen is going to be selling faster than the original.

Why would they not do this? - replace a top selling product with an even better one as soon as they can to get even more sales? You argument makes no sense.

LOL - no one believes the ipad 3 is coming out in 2011. Come on man.

But if people want to find talking points to pretend it could happen, then perhaps Apple wants all iOS devices to be the same version as iOS itself so they'll speed up releases? LOL Everything will be #5 (ipad 5, iphone 5, ipod ) when we get to iOS 5. Its all about symmetry! Maybe they'll put the bite back in the apple logo if they keep that up.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

A new iPad every 6 months is impossible. Apple will probably stick to the 1 year cycle.
Anyway the iOS operating system already supports iPad retina images, so sooner or later the iPad will have a retina display.
Being a developer I have to buy an iPad 2 for app testing but If i was a user with a first gen iPad, I'd probably wait for the retina display, whatever iPad version will have it.

Again, no reason given as to how/why this is "impossible".

Yes. The 2 won't have it according to my source. They said get the 3.

Thank you.

Even Steve Jobs doesn't know what the resolution of the iPad 3 will be.

U sure about that? I suspect he's pretty much done with the ipad3 (hands over to underlings) and is currently working on the ipad4 and it's features.

iPad 5 to get a Sandy Bridge Enhancement?

Kuo now claims that iPad 5 will deliver a Sandy Bridge enhancement originally thought to make it into the more immediate release of iPad 4.

The iPad 2 has not even shipped yet, but The Wall Street Journal has said the 2nd generation iPad will not get a Sandy Bridge update. Instead, it's believed the iPad 2 will offer nothing for better viewing in sunlight.

Depending on who you believe, the iPad 5 may arrive as early as this September, accelerating Apple's iPad release timeframe from a 4 year to 6 month delivery schedule.

Meanwhile, the iPad 2 is widely expected to be released by April.

Exactly. Build on the momentum with a greater product to drive sales.

Dumb IMO

And piss everyone off

Not everyone buys immediately. The millions of people that buy iPad 2 in July or later would be really upset. That's how you lose lifetime users.

If this were the case, there would be an update every few months to bump this or notch that. Terrible business plan

Aren't you people who say things like this getting tired of writing boring untrue stuff? You've been claiming this ever since the first iPhone came out, and it's not any more true today (what with Macs continually outpacing industry average growth for years now) than it was then. Give it a rest already.

It's hardly impossible. The 2nd gen iPod touch was released about 6 months or so after the 1st gen, for example.
