Aren't you people who say things like this getting tired of writing boring untrue stuff? You've been claiming this ever since the first iPhone came out, and it's not any more true today (what with continually outpacing industry average growth for years now) than it was then. Give it a rest already.

No, we're tired of people like you who think because you're part of the new, fasionable iDevice crowd you know better and that those of us who use COMPUTERS for WORK, having invested thousands of dollars/hours in Apple professional systems are being ditched for people who don't know jack about Apple are "complainers". Just because you own an iDevice doesn't make you an expert in all things Apple or electronic, nor does it negate the fact that those who have worked in IT/Communications/Design using Apple systems since the '80's or '90's are being dropped in order to serve the masses.

Not one OS X Lion Beta for developers (every incarnation of major OS X releases had steady beta's for developers at least a year before release), XServe dropped, Shake, no Resolution Independence, lack of native 64-bit OS X apps such as iLife, adding "Facebook" features into Pro Apps such as "Aperture" is a joke, jumping from the PowerPC to Intel processor lead to affordable towers as PowerMac's more than doubling in price, no dedicated display lineup as the 20/23/30 CCFL LCD panels that professionals used are replaced with ONE 27" LED LCD display based of the 27" iMac, no OpenGL 3.0+ support, moving OS X programmers into iOS developer (this delayed Leopard's release in 2007) - need I go on?

Love your iPhone, I like mine, but that doesn't mean that professionals and businesses who kept Apple alive during Jobs' absence deserve to be kicked in the nads because socialites and obnoxious people (AHEM) think they are more important. With $60+ billion in cash reserve, marketing an affordable mid-tower and at least one other Cinema Display would be HUGELY beneficial to Apple as many, many who use Apple to PRODUCE and not CONSUME have the cash and time to spend.

Ironic that you're complaining about people who complain.

If ya don't like it, MOVE ON.

And piss everyone off

Not everyone buys immediately. The millions of people that buy iPad 2 in July or later would be really upset. That's how you lose lifetime users.
Pffff... Lifetime users read MacRumors, which is why they as well as myself will laugh at all the fools buying iPad 2. iPAD 3 OR BUST YEAH!!!! :D

The ones who buy are too dumb or old to notice the difference between the current screen and one with 4 times the resolution.

the iPad 2 will have double resolution. The references to it was already seen in the 4.3 betas.. why this site posts so much rubbish these days, i dunno.. very unfortunate.

Here we go again...

Can we see the iPad 2 first? :) lol

I'm already considering not buying and waiting for the 3 and I haven t even saw the iPad2....

Actually the fact that i buy the new MBP (pending refresh...) will dictate if I buy the iPad... So many rumors at once must hurt Apple sales a bit...

If this were the case, there would be an update every few months to bump this or notch that. Terrible business plan

Again, this is a ridiculous argument. There are always people who buy the month before a new model comes out… There can't not be a month before a new model comes out.

Everybody knows when you buy technology that it will be out of date almost immediately. Apple don't "owe" anyone anything when it comes to releasing new, better products. The only thing they owe their customers is that the product they bought is amazing and continues to do everything expected of it.

Just Googled this analyst, here's what he said about iPhone 4 before its release...

http://gadgetwidgets.com/iphone-4g-iphone-hd-analysis-with-ming-chi-kuo/

Not exactly accurate.

In summary, analysts are in the main full of BS and probably get their "leads" from sites like Macrumors!

And here we are on a site called macRUMORS. Guess what, this site is all about speculation, a lot of it unfounded.

Personally, I think there will be an iPad announcement in fall 2011, it will simply be that the iPad 2 will be available with retina display...not iPad 3. Macbook Airs will probably get sand bridge at the same time.

There you go, doing my part for unfounded speculation.

Those "References" you speak of were iBooks resolution increases of up to 4x the native resolution.

Sorry ........Not for Retina displays.

It is to accommodate the Zoom Accessibility feature .

Keep dreaming though

Pi

2048 x 1536 = 3,145,728

PI ~= 3.141592 --> 3,141,592

3,145,728 - 3,141,592 = 4136

www.4136.com is some Asian website.

Therefore, I predict the iPad 2 (and 3) will be manufactured in Asia. You can quote me on that.

Wait wait wait. Have none of you heard about what going to come in the iPad 4? I'm serious. I have it from a real analyst that it will double as a hover craft! And that the iPad 5 will go twice as high! But that actually might be the 6th one but I don't want to be premature

I don't understand why you'd say this as if it was even remotely true. They followed the retina naming pattern and were removed once they were discovered. So there goes your theory.

Also, John Gruber has already said that iPad's with a retina display are already testing on Apple's campus, hence the files in iBooks.

Main thing that needs to change / improve with iPad (and iDevices in general) isn't hardware but the POLITICS behind it all...

Better hardware is cool thing - but screw it all if I still can't browse the entire web and if I am forcefully locked into draconian eco-system.

As long as Cupertino POLITICS remain as they are today, nothing will make me spend my money with Apple!

:)

A little bird told me ipad 5 will run WebOS and come with a built in rectal thermometer.

It's hardly impossible. The 2nd gen iPod touch was released about 6 months or so after the 1st gen, for example.

--Eric

No, the 2nd gen iPod Touch was released 12 months after the 1st gen. You are probably confused by the updated 1st gen iPod Touch (32GB) that was released six months after the initial launch of the 8 and 16GB models in September (2007).

Most other tablet producing companies were caught on the hop by the success of the iPad, they all will want a slice of this, and will flood the market with updated versions of their tablet monthly. If Apple did not upgrade and possibly introduce updated models after 6 months they are in danger of being overrun in technology by these other companies, they would be the ones playing “catch up” rather than all their competitors, not the place to be in this market.

That is the reason that Apple would possibly introduce a refreshed iPad after 6 months, to keep ahead of the market, nothing to do with customer loyalty, or most other things for that matter, it is simply that they want to sell more devices than their competitors, the only way to achieve this is to consistently make a better product than their rivals, in this fluid market a yearly refresh is just too long to wait.

It is not easy to produce a good piece of device. A lot of investments and hard work are needed to get the horse out. Most manufacturer would like to ride the horse as far as possible. Producing another device before the current device finish its course will only give small advantage in the short run, but massive disadvantage in the long run. It's the followers' trust they're risking. Looking at Apple's strategy (thanks to Macrumors database), this does not look like them at all.

I think this is just a stunt created by the media to boost their readership. It's upsetting to see how they use Apple's secrecy this way. But I guess that's the pros and cons that Apple has considered.

If the followers consistently see that Apple are lagging behind in the technology race, they wont be followers for long.

Just my opinion but I don‘t believe for one minute that Apple are bothered about their followers, I can find no evidence of this, new blood is where the money is.

Boring

I respect your people's right to speculate, but I'm finding all these page 1 discussions over the resolution of the next iPad dull now. Personally, I think the iPad resolution is fine as it is, and I'd be much more excited about new functionalities they may bring to the device in the future.

Let's be blunt here: no-one has a clue what the resolution of the next iPad will be; everyone is making educated guesses so this 'analyst's' guess is just as relavent as yours or mine. The person who correctly guesses the resolution of the next 2 iPads will get a cookie and then will be quickly forgotten as people rush to speculate the release date of the white iPhone, I expect. ;)

care to make a wager bout that?

Agree, iPad2 will of course sell well, however, having headlines in papers and magazines which are read by normal people saying iPad3 with much better display coming later this year is not exactly going to help is it?

It can only have a negative rather than positive effect.
How much, who knows but there are no good aspects to such a story being put out.
