I actually came on this forum to ask if i should just buy the ipad 4 retina? The reason being is because wal-mart is having a $50 off sale on the ipad 4 16gb wifi and some other deals with ipads as well. So the ipad 4r 16gb wifi is going for $449, i was wondering if i should just buy this model or wait for the ipad 5? Also, what is the usual price for the base model wifi iPads when they are first released? Im sure that the new ipads are going to have different dimensions and a new a7x chip, i would wait and buy the ipad 5 but only if its not more than $499.

IPads newly released are $499 with 16gb, we are hoping for the 5 for that price but with 32gb.

Maybe an announcement on the 5 on Sept 10 so I would advise waiting to see if that happens. If not you will have to decide if the wait is worth it. The 4 is great but $50 savings is not great.

I'm holding on also. I have a mini, but an iPad 5 would be nice. Best Buy will price match Walmart's price and sometimes their open box specials are good (they had a 32GB iPad 4 for $514).

And to top it off, I'll be getting my teeth cleaned while the Apple event is taking place. Can't refresh the screen while they clean my teeth.

I am not in hurry to buy for an iPad 5. I wait to see what other people think of an iPad 5. No issues or problem then I will buy it like November or December. :apple:

I agree. I currently have an iPad 3 that I received on launch day. So far, it has met my needs quite well and it's battery life still seems great. While I would like to have the latest greatest version of any of my Apple products, the iPad 5 would have to be a tremendous leap in improvement over my "old" trusty iPad 3 for me to take the plunge.

I would be all over the iPad 5 with 16gb for $399. That avoids some cannibalization with the Mini 2 as well if it is released with retina. If the 5 starts out at $499, well the same thing will just happen all over again.

Hell, I'm on iPad 2. Long overdue upgrade!
Either way, I'm buying with my eyes closed :p

I have the original iPad. Still works but I'm starting to see more and more apps requiring iOS 6. My other gripe with it is that it tends to crash in safari due to the lack of ram. If I do get a new one this year I'm still not sure whether to get the Mini or the 9.7" iPad.

I'm thinking separate event. But it would be a pleasant surprise if iPads are included in tomorrow's event!

So right now is the best time to sell an iPad 4? I guess I can always pick up the Nexus 7 to use a temp and return it if the iPad Mini 2 were to launch?

iPad must save Apple this year

iPhones were a massive disappointment. Felt like an Android experience :p
iPad must make it THE year for Apple. iPhone announcement today was a balls up. Is Apple really struggling that much with innovation?:confused::confused:

This is one of the biggest complains I have about apple in general. They release too many hardware products too fast instead of supporting older hardware.

I bought ipad 4 a few weeks ago, 2012 rls date. And now they are gonna release ipad 5, wtf?

Let me guess ipad 6 2014 january?

That's nothing! I just bought a new 2013 Subaru Impreza and paid over $23,000, just to find out they're releasing a 2014 version next year! Geesh!!!

I feel like they will discontinue iPad 2 and keep the 4 around for a good bit longer considering it still is an excellent device... and a completely different design. I actually think I am going to prefer the larger bezel with more room to hold than the thinner bezel. Either way, I probably won't give up my 4 just to get a 5.

with all Apple has done with innovation and many manufacturing and technological advances which others continuously copy, could you do any better?

I don't get it, why was there no new iPads? I mean they do not have to release them today but at least give us a look into the future.

It took them 8 months or so to go from 3->4 , which was basically a processor only upgrade. So in the real world, the current iPad is 1.5 years old with no updates. Its not like its an absurd amount but Apple has the habit of upgrading their devices on yearly basis including iPods, iPhones, iPads, and probably all laptops.

I am not looking forward for super amazing breakthrough, but cheaper prices , larger storage (I am almost filling my 32GB, mostly Apps no media) , thinner and lighter device.

I will also consider the iPad mini retina, I saw it with my friend. It was so light and mobile.

Considering the iPhone C is just a colored iphone 5 and iPhone S is hardly an upgraded iPhone 5 , I really thought yesterday was going to be iPad day.

Any one got any update on the iPads?

I'm all good, still thoroughly enjoying my iPad4 :)

Must say though, going by the leaked pics, the iPad5 is going to be stunning, and will probably rock a A7X chip, more powerful than the 5S's chip, if so, it will be one hell of a beast. :D

Waiting

I had an iPad2 and sold it for the iPad4 thinking the 4 was going to be like the mini. I really enjoyed the screen and the processor but there was the heft and the heat that bothered me. Once again I sold my ipad and waiting for the 5....and it's killing me.

Last October I wanted to see if I could replace my laptop with my ipad. I stared using my iPad everyday and everywhere. Using the iWork apps all the time as well as reading and working with students. I didn't realize how integrated its become to my work.

And I sold it too early.

I guess I can use this time to sock away some money to buy the 64gb version.

Lol I'm a student as well sold my ipad in august thinking they would come in September. But boy was i wrong now I have to lug my 17.3 inch laptop around with books in my bag around campus. And I walk to and from school so it's a huge pain. Can't wait for the new iPad to come out.

I hope the iPad5 runs a lot cooler when used heavily...I have a 3 and it gets so hot at times. It also takes forever to charge...I hope they address this too.

I'm hoping to get the 5; I currently have NO iPad. . . :( , Just an iPhone 4s & iMac.
I think it will have been worth the wait, though.

Have there been any rumors about the Wi-Fi & Cellular deal being changed?
