1st generation products are for the suckers.

Need a camera? Buy our new second gen iPad.
Need a USB port? Buy our new third gen iPad.
Need...

ha ha :D
This is so apple.
They know how to get our money.

So absolutely true, and that's why I will wait for the Magical, revolutionary and the phenomenal 3rd generation iPad.

This is exactly what people said when portable phones came out. How did that work out? Everyone is always so discrete when talking on the phone in public, right?

One thing I've never understood is this prejudice against phone conversations over just conversations - flesh and blood people are indiscrete when talking in public, loud when talking in public, annoying when talking in public. Why is it any worse that the person is talking to someone that isn't actually there - at least I don't have to hear both sides of the inane conversation.

And if tablet video conferencing does show up won't that actually create a cottage industry of making business ceilings a more attractive video background? :)

Apple would have said there would be a camera...

I'm just going to throw out the idea that maybe it's not a camera because on the iPad page it doesn't say camera... nor do any of the pictures they have have one. I vote for it being the light sensor that Apple said would be in there. I give it a 2% chance that they stick in a camera before the release.

Just my 2¢...

P.S.

Yeah that's where the microphone is... If you look in the gallery on the site there is a little hole next to the headphone jack. Perfect for a microphone...

Um, no, probably the sim eject hole.

So you're saying Apple is going to sell the first iPad March 30th and the rev.2 2 months later in June ?

That's absurd.

Not saying they will. But remember the first airport extreme base stations? First out with 100MB ethernet. Muggins bought one immediately they were released and then, in a few short months, out comes rev 2 with gigabit! I was pissed, I can tell you.

Or how about the macbooks that shipped with 802.11n, but nobody knew? A few months later Apple said to everyone who thought they'd bought an 802.11g laptop, "oh, by the way, we've hidden 802.11n in there. $2 and we'll unlock it for you. Happy Christmas!"

Very funny...

'Hero'
;)

Microsim eject. Just like your iPhone.

A hero refers to the image you will use after several revisions. It is a common photography word.

No... At the iPhone OS 4.0 event in March (before the iPad is released), they will show off iPhone OS 4 with multitasking and show it off with the iPad using videoconferencing.

Then the iPad will be released shortly after in late March, with a built-in camera of limited utility. The iPad gains videoconferencing abilities in June when iPhone OS 4 is final and ships. You will be able to call and share your screen with the 2010 iPhone too.

They can't show off videoconferencing or the camera now because videoconferencing requires multitasking (it's not much use otherwise). The multitasking interface isn't a feature of OS 3.x

There will only be one revision of iPad in 2010.

No offense but from a developers standpoint that's seriously flawed.

Man- I am really beginnning to think they are going to slip in a camera for release- it would make sense- for the buyers on the fence, this would be a push towards a purchase after the " it's just a huge iTouch" voices have drowned out...
