Well, wel have to see about that. There is nothing to read about this than only the Procreate website them self. And off course they will show us the best artwork. But I will not bed my money on the iPad pro + procreate only. Thats my point a little bit as an digital painter. I think with the surface pro and full acces to the adobe suit, makes that a more productive machine. I think.

Maybe. But the Apple Pencil is supposed to be better and have the least amount of lag …

Yup - the thinner and lighter the better. The iPad is still heavy to hold for long periods of time, it still needs to shed weight.

And read my comment again. I know the iPad Pro doesn't have an OLED display, I said any features we would be getting in the regular iPad range are now pushed back a year because of the Pro.
At what point does thinner and lighter eat in to things like battery life, performance (due to heat) and provide a worse UX? iPad Pro weighs 1 pound. That's heavy?

Why is the entry level 32GB then jumps to 128GB? I also can't get over a "pro" device running the exact same iOS as an iPad mini

Very little about this device makes sense

I think Apple is positioning the iPad lineup to reflect it's Mac lineup.

iPad mini / Mac mini.
iPad Air / Macbook Air.
iPad Pro / Macbook Pro.

They won't call it 'S' or 'Plus' or 'C' ... They want to differentiate what you can do with their productivity devices vs their handheld devices.

I would like the 2nd gen if it includes force touch and a better charging solution for the pencil. Also I would like to know if its better than Surface pro 4 in terms of drawing with the pencil/stylus. I think iPad Pro is a great canvas, of course iOS doesn't have all the features of Windows 10 which is a touch/tablet friendly, desktop OS, but not touch/tablet designed OS. From my point of view it all comes down to well designed apps, apps designed and coded for a mobile device, apps designed and coded for desktop with sharing capabilities to allow customers moving from one to another anytime during their workflows. These are the apps I would mostly use if I had one: Mail, Safari, Storyist, SketchBook, Graphic, Pages, Keynote, Notes, Remote Desktop, Udemy, Manga Meow, iCircuit and Chromecast. And I would keep a smaller iPad as well because is the tablet that can replace your magazine... in the restroom.

Excuse my language, English is not my mother tongue.

You don't see Apple making a separate version of OSX for MB, MBA, MBP, iMac, Mac mini, and nMP do you? They all run the exact same OSX. The iPad line is the same concept. You buy the device based on the task you're doing.

I may be wrong but, 3D Touch may not come to the iPad next year. If you look at the amount of weight it added to the iPhone, it might just make the iPad too heavy.

With the new Apple pencil, this could be simulated in new software update.

Wow, I didn't realize there was so much pre launch negativity surrounding the iPad Pro - I think it'll just be great as a paper and sketching replacement on my desk. First gen is first gen.

iPad FAIL. the market is going to be very small compared to the other iPads.

Apple did too good of a job selling me on 3D Touch that neglecting to include it in the Pro version of the iPad has me holding off until next year. Muscle memory for 3D Touch will quickly become annoying when pressing deeper does nothing on the iPad Pro.

At first thought, I'm inclined to agree with you, but I'm not noticing this issue on my iPad 4 vs. my iPhone 6s.
I think it's because I hold the iPhone completely different than the iPad.

Gary

Ugh, can guarantee most people will not be able to get one at launch because Apple feels this stupid need to push all these products to every country at one time.

Right, because pushing them to only your country would allow everyone to buy one at launch.

Agreed. I don't see myself wanting to use 3D Touch on an iPad, really. On the phone, I trigger it almost exclusively with the thumb of the hand in which I'm holding the phone. On the iPad, no matter what the screen size, this just doesn't work. There's not "muscle memory" because the two devices are used and held in different ways.

I also agree with some of the comments about the pressure sensitivity of the pencil interfering with 3D Touch. At worst, it would trigger 3D Touch interactions while using the pencil... at best, they'd have to come up with something similar to the hand/palm recognition that tells the system to ignore 3D Touch pressure when the pencil is in use. Whereas they could potentially just release an OS update to allow the pressure of the pencil to enable 3D Touch like functionality on the home screen, at least.

I am eagerly anticipating picking two up this week (my wife and I are both upgrading from our iPad Air 1s).

I'm not so sure how much difference you would notice in real world use between the A10 and A9 and I'd rather they did that than have a big price premium for the Pro. Personally I'm pleased they've moved to 2 year upgrade cycle for the Mini and the Air as it means I'll only have to replace them every 2 years to keep with the latest tech.

This is where the whole "only rich people buy Apple products" nonsense comes from. I can't afford to replace a half broken toaster oven and a half broken vacuum cleaner. It astounds me that people actually buy the same $500-$1200 items YEARLY. I'm still on an iPhone 4 (iOS 6). It has become maddening because of lousy website code everywhere today, but it has lasted FIVE YEARS!

I don't see this as a product people will line up in stores to buy. It is a relatively niche market.

There is always going to be hype around a Apple Product specially when its a completely new line or form. I think you'll be surprised come Friday.

I'm shocked this is launching in so many countries simultaneously. I guess this means they have the supply to handle it...or they don't have the supply and this is a retina MacBook situation all over again. Hopefully they learned from that fiasco.

I'm on record to say this is going to be messy and this tablet will be extremely difficult to get. If any of you guys are serious about owning one, pre order or line up Friday. I don't see this as a item you can just walk into the store during the weekend and decide to pick up because you have a itch to buy it. Least not yet and not this year. With holidays coming, a lot of people are going to want to buy this as a gift.

I don't think it's to do as much with supply as demand. It's been reported that Apple expect sales of the iPad Pro to be rather low (around 2.5 million) and so that allows them to spread that across more countries to try and maximise sales.

2.5 million for worldwide launch doesn't sound like a lot to me. Get your popcorn ready.

Who's being forced to buy it? A lot of people. Want the A9X? Buy an iPad pro. Apple branded stylus or keyboard cover? Buy an iPad Pro. Stereo speakers? Buy an iPad Pro.

The Air line from this point forward will be forever gimped with last years specs to make the Pro a more attractive purchase.

No reason the Air 2 couldn't have been updated this year with at least an A9x at a minimum or even support for those Apple branded accessories.

Apple is a large enough company - they can handle two iPad projects at once.

Isn't this what happen to the iPad Mini though? The problem is simply moving up the chain because the iPad Pro is the flagship now. Boy am I glad I bit the bullet last year and just spent the cash on getting the Air 2 over the Air 1. It's been totally worth it.

I still didn't find an answer on the internet about this:

My question is: Can i Start AND finish an drawing for professional use. My average paintings starts at 3840x2160 at 600 dpi in CMYK. Can it handle such files?

Check out ArtRage. Amazing app and currently exports at 2048 x 2048 on the iPad Air 2. With the new Pro, it may meet your needs.

OTOH, if you're happy with your Cintiq, why would you want to make a change?
