Now, in the Menu Bar, an “Eject” option is listed under File. It is currently grayed out, which leads me to believe it’s still under work, as an eject symbol still doesn’t appear on a drive in the sidebar either. But the presence of this option indicates the option is coming, which will be welcome news for those who have been wanting this option. 👍🏻

It’s ok, as long as it doesn’t frown on me whenever I just plug the SSD out, like macOS does.
So far it doesn’t, but the eject option doesn’t work yet. But I would imagine it likely won’t scold you when removing drives the way we have now for several years on iPadOS like Mac does. 👍🏻😉.

As of beta 7 the Files menu option is still greyed out and there’s no Eject option at all in the long-press menu on the drive itself.

I think this was discussed in another thread. We figured out the Eject button was mainly just for connected servers. Why a server needs the eject button but a external drive doesn’t, who knows 🤷‍♀️
Yeah, sadly it still doesn’t show as an option for external drives. Hopefully they will make this work for external drives as well in a future beta. At this point, I’m guessing we won’t see it happen in the first public release, but maybe in another beta? And yeah, I don’t understand why a network server would need an “eject” button, but then there wouldn’t be an “eject” option for external drives. To be fair though, most drives seem to work fine without it, it’s more of a consistency thing, and it would have some benefits. But I guess we’ll see, I think with it being in the Menu Bar, it would make sense to expand the functionality to external drives as well. 👍🏻
