I'm still happy with my X. I see nothing truly compelling so will wait for another year or wait for a redesign.
Generally in the same school of thought with you, but over this past year was the first time mine has started to show it's age and truly result in some frustrating day to day usage experiences...I'm not sure I can hold out another year and half.

- Spotty internet either do to aging antennas or just lack of being able to use newer infrastructures
- Some truly subpar/slow loading apps
- Maps/gps wigging out at various junctures
- Lack of ram forcing you to "restart" almost every app that is "open" in the background
- Battery can barely make it a full day (not due to battery age, but primarily because of the OS and apps)

I think a good rule of thumb is to ride out most Apple devices for as long as they are supported by the most recent operating system...this will be the last year the iPhone X is on that list.

i do miss the smooth rounded edges of the IPhone 6 to 11. Probably the only one but that style fit perfectly in hands. My 13 pro is like carrying a house brick.

I'd love to move to the mini from the Pro. I hate the size already, and they are potentially making it bigger. The tradeoff of going to the mini is the drop from 6 to 4GB of ram. I hate Safari reloading, because of low memory. 6GB seems to work great and I rarely get Safari reloading any more.

No more notch: Rumors suggest Apple will replace the notch with a pill-shaped cutout and a hole for the Face ID sensors and front camera on the iPhone 14 Pro.
Dude, it IS a notch, practically speaking. It’s not like no such design appears on android before, and nothing can be displayed in that area either way, meaning what we see now is what we will see on those supposed to be with pill shaped cutout.

My current thought is to upgrade my IPhone12Pro to Spring Edition of IPhone15Pro or Max.

Hopefully, there will be USB -C by then.

Upgrading for sure this year. My Xs was destroyed recently, and I’ve been relying on a backup iPhone 8. This thing is so slow now that the upgrade will be HUGE!

I honestly don't know if we are upgrading this year. We usually upgrade every year or every other year, but with the thought of USB-C around the corner next year, we're thinking about pushing our 12 PM for another year. We might have to get a new battery put in at some point in the year, but we will have to resist the urge to upgrade, which is hard for us especially with AOD and the camera upgrade,s but I also don't want to regret our purchase later.

Tough decisions, We will have to wait until September to decide what to do.

11 pro here. I really want to wait for the 15 pro, but my rear glass is shattered and my Face ID isn’t functioning (I work in harsh field conditions that my phone experiences along with me). When I upgraded to the 11 from the 7 I decided there wasn’t much of a reason for a bulky case anymore.

Anyways, I’m already disappointed in myself that I will undoubtedly cave. Who knew typing in a six digit pin all day could be such a hardship? I’ve really enjoyed the 11 pro. I’m sure the 14 pro will be cool. That periscope lens and usb c, though…it’s really all I care for.

Yes, there are also a variety of carrier trade-in deals but they typically have strings attached e.g., require certain plan level, 2 or 3 year commitment to get the full (inflated) trade-in credits, etc.
In my area its bill credits spread over two years and is applicable to our plan. I never upgrade every year so two years is fine for me considering I'm getting double the phone's value.

the fact this article exists is an implicit argument to not upgrade from a 13 for sure, probs the 12 as well. nothing new or ground breaking to justify a jump from my 12 pro at the least.
The only thing I would argue is the promotion. And as an owner of a 13 pro, I definitely do not plan to upgrade.

It’s so difficult to not take advantage of carrier upgrades. I’m with TMo. Each year I get the cheapest phone on the iPhone on us plan. Lately it’s been the Xr. $150 bucks to get a free newest generation? Sell the previous generation, put a couple bucks in my pocket and keep it moving.

I have been trying to do three years since the X. But the 12 pro is probably my least favorite iPhone, largely due to the smaller battery and 5G consumption. I can’t wait to upgrade to the 14.

I actually upgraded to an 11 Pro only last year. The phone just fits better in the hand because of the rounded edges. The square shape was perfect for the smaller form factor iPhones but not larger ones. I'm going to hold on until it loses support.

I think we've gotten to a point where specs on paper are meaningless. Most of the advantages the newer models provide don't even apply to me. I don't game or watch movies on my phone - I use it for calls, text, email, maps and banking. The 11 Pro does all of that perfectly well. And most people don't have mmWave 5G. The only thing that piques my interest is better battery life and USB-C. Not enough to upgrade.
