MagSafe is for charging not data so they can't go portless any time soon.
It’s a big assumption to think that they won’t make a revision to MagSafe that’s capable of data transfer. Or that they even care about data transfer when they want to foist iCloud onto people. If data transfer was something they were worried about we wouldn’t still be stuck with lightning connectors that operate at USB 2.0 speeds and take a year and a half just to dump 4K footage.
The point remains, they will go portless sooner or later, and by the time they announce it it will already be far too late to buy one of the last non-portless iPhones. So I will likely be returning to my annual upgrade cycle from here on out.

should i switch to 14pro from 12 mini? had the mini since launch and the larger size seems very appealing
I have the 12 mini as well and I’m switching for sure. I like the form factor of the mini, but the battery life isn’t working for me..

As much as I want to, my iPhone XS Max is still in perfect working order. Hard to justify an upgrade.
I dunno, man, even just the battery life jump from my XS to my 11 Pro was a MASSIVE improvement. I think you'd be surprised how much better the newer phones are. I was not impressed with my XS.

Will be quite a jump from 11 Pro to 14 Pro. The larger display and ProMotion will be great to have.

Battery is one of the main things that would motivate me to upgrade but equally I am at home with a charger, in the car with a charger, and at work with a charger.

If I am out a lot then I tend to need to use a battery case which kinda sucks but isn’t enough in of itself to upgrade.

I used to upgrade every year or 2nd year. I have an iPhone XS and each year since I have decided to stay put. A 0.3" increase and extra 5-7 hours battery would be appreciated, as would MagSafe. But I might hold out yet again and wait for USB-C. I am undecided at this point.

after more than 100 posts, no one pointed out that iPhone 11pro doesn’t support faceid with mask.

In many countries, people still need to wear mask in certain circumstances.

Waiting for the usb-c model. Whenever that is 🙃
-100% agree. There isn't a single good reason to drag this one and will not be upgrading phone until this happens.. Lightening is slower than standard USB; and has simply run it's course.
USB-C/T-bolt is now the universal connection for all devices- phones, computers, laptops, stereo etc.

Not to mention buying a single type of cord that works with just about everything. Say no too lightening already.

I'm in the same exact case. It does everything I need, all the novelties these past years are not very useful to me.
For casual photos it's enough, I have a DSLR for the rest.
For anything related to iOS, I get most of the same upgrades.
The only thing that would make me buy a new one would be if either my XS Max broke, or if an new phone becomes mandatory for the expected VR device or something like that.

3 years later and 5G is a feature?! it still has a 'hole' in the screen, no USB-C, sharp edges that catch every item they rub up against and you still have to buy the pro to get a usable full camera angle range. No real point in buying an iPhone14. Apple hang onto old concepts for too long and appear to resell too many new (low range) products with previous years unsold parts - definteily give this one a miss!

There's nothing like iPhone 13 Pro Max. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend everyone, who hasn't already, to upgrade immediately. There's really never been a better time to be on the latest and greatest iPhone.

Another thing that can be added to the list - 1TB capacity. I think that was introduced with the 12, but this will be new to anyone who held out since the 11 and only buys the top model. Maybe we’ll even see a 2TB model, which will be a really giant leap from 512GB

I don't want a larger display I just want the pro camera features.
5.8-inch is enough. Even less would be better... I'd prefer an SE-sized iPhone if it just had the high-end cameras!

i'll wait for the 15 to replace my 12 Pro Max.

no reason to replace it. battery health is at 94% since launch.

the fact this article exists is an implicit argument to not upgrade from a 13 for sure, probs the 12 as well. nothing new or ground breaking to justify a jump from my 12 pro at the least.
I went from a 6s plus to a 11 pro max. I plan on waiting for iPhone 15 Pro because my 11 pro max is still chugging along. Works great.

I actually upgraded to an 11 Pro only last year. The phone just fits better in the hand because of the rounded edges. The square shape was perfect for the smaller form factor iPhones but not larger ones. I'm going to hold on until it loses support.

I think we've gotten to a point where specs on paper are meaningless. Most of the advantages the newer models provide don't even apply to me. I don't game or watch movies on my phone - I use it for calls, text, email, maps and banking. The 11 Pro does all of that perfectly well. And most people don't have mmWave 5G. The only thing that piques my interest is better battery life and USB-C. Not enough to upgrade.
I'm with you. My prepaid plan doesn't even offer 5G, and my battery is somehow at 99% too. Not seeing much to gain yet for my use cases.
