I’ve got the leather case in black, as well as Baltic Blue, and the corners on these are fine. However I had to return a Saddle Brown as it was noticeably loose on the corners and the phone could easily pop out, especially on the bottom corners. I’m getting a replacement so we’ll see how that works out.

Does those finger marks not wash off?

Yeah, they do. But :

1) I can't spend time every day to wash of fingerprints.

2) It won't be just the fingerprints that comes off. Some of the original color as well.

The corners won’t pop off unless they are in your front pocket with the screen facing outwards. I changed the screen facing my leg and haven’t had any issues, but I’m pretty sure all cases have this “feature”.

I’ve seen 10 cases myself (6 were in my family). After I changed the way I put my phone in my pocket I’ve no longer had the issue, but I’m pretty sure it’s a design flaw.

Are you not worried about that change? I think I used to put my phone in my pocket with the screen facing my leg, but at some point I think I changed to putting it in my pocket screen facing out because I found unexplained micro scratches. I'm worried that with the screen facing your leg, the curve of your leg means your leg pushes against the screen and slides back and forth on the screen with quite a bit of force, especially if you're wearing somewhat tight pants, so if you happen to have any grit in your pocket it won't be good. On the other hand, if the screen is facing out, the case lip seems to hold the fabric of your pants off of the screen, so there's no rubbing and risk of scratches.

I have a screen protector so I am not worried, but this makes sense. The ultimate goal is to have Apple fix the design flaw, but not sure how they missed it in the first place? I’m assuming they tested the cases when people had them in their pockets and walked?

This is happening with my white silicone case on my 12PM. Not always though.
Just put my Apple Clear Case in service on my 12PM for the first time. One of the corners has already popped off a few times.

I’m just gonna use both of them for a while, until - I hope - a corrected version is introduced.

I did it with my old 11PM Apple leather case. It holds the case tight as hell to the phone. No corner issue. The only negative is that it takes some effort to get it off your phone. It will damage the inner lining of the case obviously. But no damage to the phone at all! Yes, there will be glue stuck on the phone. The beauty of your kids stick glue is that it washes right off with water. No damage to stainless steel. Even the case is reusable.

Note that I am only talking about Apple leather case above, not silicone nor clear case.
The fact we need to use a glue stick to keep a $60 case in place is beyond pathetic.

Maybe it's just a bad batch because I've had my California Poppy since Saturday and I don't have this issue at all. In fact, it takes some pressure just for me to remove the case. I'm happy.

If I was having this issue I would return it no doubt. I'm not paying $60 to glue the case to the phone lol

So I went out to run some errands yesterday and kept my 12 Pro Max in my pocket with the screen out. Normally, I keep it facing in towards my thigh.
Corners stayed on. No popping off issue at all. Thing is still pretty dang tight.

Same here. I don’t normally keep my phone in my pants pocket but for the last week or so I’ve experimented with my iPhone 12 & Apple leather case by keeping it in my pocket with the screen out as much as possible. No popping off issue at all for me.

Some people are obviously having issues but as is normal with such things you rarely hear from the people who don’t and are happy.

I guess that the case could stretch ever so slight over time and it could then start popping off. We shall see.

While true, don’t discount screen breakage due to cases peeling back at the corners on “offset” impact. Not all fall from grace happen flat with all 4 corners hitting pavement at same time. I have had one screen / screen protector breaking by that on past iphones with good cases.

Hopefully Apple fixes the design flaw. That would be the best thing, but it only happens under a certain set of circumstances.

For me its when I bend down to put the leash on my dog, my phone in left front jeans pocket (not skinny jeans lol) with the screen facing outwards. The corner raises slightly 100% of the time with 6 different cases (black and saddle brown leather and silicon blue and green) purchased from Apple and Amazon.

So frustrating. I just recieved my 3rd Saddle brown leather case, and the bottom concerns are even looser on this one than on the other two I’ve returned. Forget ‘popping out’, the bottom left corner was just totally loose on this one. I have the Baltic blue and Black and those are fine - nice and snug.

Top left corner of my red case “half” pops out repeatedly. No issues with my brown, black and blue color ways.

Maddening.

Has anyone picked up on any correlation between issue and store? For instance, does ordering off Apple tend to give a better chance of a good case?

I ordered a black leather case at a Telekom Store (Germany) and oh boy - the issue is even worse with this leather case compared to any other silicon cases I ordered yet (3 in total).

Left corner pops out way to easy. I love both cases (silicon and leather) but this issue drives me crazy...

I got my leather case when I picked up my phone at an Apple Store and it fits perfectly with no corners popping off. Having read this thread prior, I was expecting to have an issue, but nothing so far.
We may just be looking at a case lottery.

Bought my blue leather iPhone 12 pro case 11/22 at the apple store and noticed this issue when pulling the phone out of my pants pocket on day 3. Will be going back for a replacement tomorrow. I’ve loved the leather cases since their first model and don’t want to stop using them, but this could be a problem...

I picked up the california poppy case + band this morning from the Apple store. Both bottom corners were popping off and there was a big crease in the leather at the top corner. Super disappointing, went right back in and returned it. I didn't want to be that lady holding up the line opening boxes till I find a perfect one so I just exchanged it for a kumquat silicone, which fits perfectly but completely clashes with the band. Boo :(

I figure I'll give them a few months to make some new batches then try buying the poppy again. I really hope they fix this, the color is absolutely gorgeous.

Take the one you have back and get the one you initially wanted, I’m sure a second won’t be the same. Especially if you don’t really like the colour of the silicone one you have now.
