Just as an update... I'm still having the same drop connection issue. Happened twice on my way into work this morning. I also updated to 14.2 yesterday. On Verizon with carrier settings 44.0.1, so it doesn't seem the OS update or carrier update fixed the issue for me.Just wanted to chime in here as well to say I've been having the same problem as many others. Just came across this thread this morning, but prior to seeing this, I pretty much tried everything. Reset network settings, factory reset, set up as new phone after the factory reset, tried a new SIM, etc. and still have the issue. As many have already mentioned, this only seems to happen while driving. I'm also on Verizon.
Isn't Apple considerate that way?So what you're saying is that this is Apple's master plan to ensure that I don't leave my house due to the pandemic and stick to my WiFi access point. Got it!
I wonder will it be the same issue for 12 Pro Max?So if the drop problem is still there after the 14.2 update, I suspect there is some kind of hardware issue with the Qualcomm modems that are being used in the iPhone 12 and 12 pro. The 11's used an Intel modem I believe.
The Qualcomm X55 modem 5G/4G spectrum sharing is possibly buggy in hardware. This would explain why Apple refuse to acknowledge that the problem exists - replacing the hardware in thousands of buggy phones is cost prohibitive.
I'm glad I returned my 12 pro while the return window was still open.
Ugh I can’t. The window closed. So if the drop problem is still there after the 14.2 update, I suspect there is some kind of hardware issue with the Qualcomm modems that are being used in the iPhone 12 and 12 pro. The 11's used an Intel modem I believe.

Just have to see thenMy guess is yes, since it uses the same modem as the 12 and 12 Pro.
If there are no issues on the 12 Pro Max, then we can rule out hardware bugs.
Is this happening with iOS 14.2?iPhone 12 - with T Mobile:
“auto 5g” mode - anyone having issues with phone holding onto 5g indoors instead of switching to LTE? Mine does this all the time and I have to disable 5g to get any speed at all. This phone, despite the Qualcomm modem, still has software that fails to switch to the best network. Very annoying. I’m to the point where I think I’ll just leave the phone in LTE mode.
Phone seems to perform better in 5g when outdoors. Due to T Mobile band technology?
still, am a bit disappointed that Apple advertising this thing as 5g when it can’t automatically pick the best network and sometimes 5g is actually slower than LTE.
have traveled to about 5 US cities this week and had no “no service” or dropped signal so far
