I was out driving today. When it came time for my 12Pro to switch towers, it lost the signal and no handoff occurred. I had to toggle airplane mode to force it to connect to the tower.
Dos the normal iPhone 12 users have this issue?
I’ve had the same issues with my 11 pro, although not as bad, in the same town. Verizon blames Apple, Apple blames Verizon.Wondering if anyone is having issues with their connection dropping on Verizon with their iPhone 12? Granted I’ve only had my 12 Pro for a day but I’ve noticed that the signal will completely cut out and go to no signal. If I toggle airplane mode it fixes it. I’m figuring it could be an issue with the phone trying switch to 5g. Messing around with the 5g settings didn’t seem to do much. No idea if this is software, hardware or carrier related.

^^Not my post but explains the issue exactly.
I haven’t see 3G service at all on this phone. I know it has the CDMA bands, and I agree with you. They aren’t done with 3G yet until they are 100% LTE where 3G was.Just let us chose 3G service! I'm on the edge of LA suburbs where 4g is spotty while 3g is great! Previous iphones were manually switched to 3G and battery was great, phone didn't get hot and other benefits... I'll be returning my 12 pro if they do nothing software wise by the end of my return window.
I forgot about this too. My wifi doesn’t always work. This NEVER happened with my X.I've got Verizon connectivity problems too. It is so bad, I would say that it only intermittently works. Tried changing lots of the settings. LTE only. 5G On, 5G Auto. Data Roaming On and Off. Cellular Data On and Off. Airplane Mode On and Off. WiFi On and Off. Bluetooth On and Off. Nothing makes a difference.
Mine also intermittently does not work with my house WiFi. I get a message something like "You must be connected to the internet for this to work." Through all of this, my iPad Pro and my wife's iPhone 11 sit side by side with this iPhone 12 Pro and they have no connectivity issues at all.
Updated to iOS 14.2 RC and saw some level of improvement. Drops once or twice a day but definitely not as bad as 14.1.So I'm going on a full 5 days of completely good service, no drops or having to toggle airplane mode.
All in all, things seem to be fixed for me at least. This has me thinking it has to really do with the network and carriers (and even location?). Maybe Verizon did some maintenance for their 5G rollout in lieu of the new iPhones coming out or maybe this was all related to the activation issues they were having over the weekend with Apple. I would really still like to know what the problem actually is/was...
- At home, where it did drop a few times early on, I've had no drops from what I can tell.
- I've driven through the same exact areas a couple times over the weekend, where this issue occurred frequently, no drops.
- I've been through areas that go between 5G (not UW), LTE & very poor service with no issues.
- I did happen to go through one area that legitimately had no service but the phone picked up right away once it had signal.
- Currently still on iOS 14.1, Verizon 43.0 & modem firmware of 1.00.03-5
Have things gotten better for people here?
Things have actually gotten better for me in NH the last few days. The signal drops that were happening in areas where I was driving have stopped happening. I have no idea if this is because the phone gets smarter with locations of towers or there was some sort of update by Verizon on the back end. Would love to test this out in other areas soon.
I still wish Verizon would support 3G like they did on the older iPhones for areas where the LTE signal is weak but I guess this will be an issue on all Verizon phones at the end of the year as they shut down CDMA.
14.2 RC updated modem and carrier settings. Still experiencing intermittent connectivity issues while driving...After a full day of use on 12.2 RC it’s only lost signal once. Previous 4 days it had been happening much more often. Definitely progress...
No dropped calls yet today in NH. but I haven’t really been driving around like crazy. 🤷🏼♂️I spoke too soon. Driving in Burlington, MA today and lost signal in an area I’ve never had a problem before. My work phone had a strong LTE signal in the same spot.
