Through Verizon. I only use texting to contact support because they actually respond quickly and seem to be more knowledgeable. I’ve been pestering them for 5 weeks straight so they have my ticket marked the highest priority at this point. You go through carrier or Apple for replacements?
Starting to sound like the Verizon of old back in the early 2000’s when they sucked horribly.I spoke to Verizon Tech 2 yesterday and the rep states that she believes that its an issue with the phone as opposed to 100% their network being at fault. She did acknowledge that in my area there was congestion due to lack of the 3G towers because they stupidly underestimated how crappy their service would be without it. Being that this is my first device with Verizon she "assured me" that this isn't normal and that its a great service to have....she seemed like a genuine soul so ill take that for what its worth. She stated that Verizon had 0 replacement devices in stock and that if she ordered one I wouldn't receive it till the end of December. It was mentioned that this is the best time to have a device go haywire because during the holiday season they're lax on the 14 day return window. She was able to send me out a signal booster which ill thoroughly enjoy once I get my 12 Pro Max swapped out at Apple this weekend. Let's hope that it won't be another dud and that the screen won't turn yellow or green like other people are complaining about. My return window is up on Black Friday so I hope im making the right decision.
I agree. There seems to be select batches of 12 pro and 12 pro max that are defective. But Verizon specifically has a major issue with LTE not being prepared to handle the traffic now that they eliminated the option of dropping to 3G when congested. So other carriers are having the phone issue still for some people, but Verizon is seeing way more problems because it’s compounding the device issue.I spoke to Verizon Tech 2 yesterday and the rep states that she believes that its an issue with the phone as opposed to 100% their network being at fault. Your recent replacement device.. how’s it holding up?I agree. There seems to be select batches of 12 pro and 12 pro max that are defective. Activated it Wednesday night haven’t had any dropped calls and have 15-25 times the speed download and 10 times the speed upload pretty consistently. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.Your recent replacement device.. how’s it holding up?
I hope it works out, the SIM card they sent me worked wonderfully for about 36-40 hours and then it started again. Please keep us updated.Activated it Wednesday night haven’t had any dropped calls and have 15-25 times the speed download and 10 times the speed upload pretty consistently. Nevermind, I found it.I just found something that might give a clue as to where this is coming from.
The problem that the cell connection drops, seems to be connected to location services. In particular the "precise location" option.
If you have this problem, try the following and see if it makes a difference:
- First, turn off all your location services (Settings - Privacy - Location Services). Try that for a while in the same places that you had intermittent connectivity issues before.
- Second, turn on your location services again but make sure to leave the "Precise Location" option off.
- Third, see if it makes a difference on 4G and 5G Auto/On.
Here is my experience:
After I had turned all location services off, the problem went away. I turned the location for the Apple Maps app back on, but left the "Precise Location" option off. When I was using the Apple Maps app and I selected "Precise Location: Allow Once", the cell connection immediately dropped, very reliably too. This issue happened on 4G/LTE but not on actual 5G in my experience (though actually it's hard to tell when it's on 5G Auto).
So what does this mean? Is there a problem with the antennas in conjunction with GPS? Is it a hardware problem or can Apple fix it via update? So many questions.

That’s how my wife’s 12 Pro max started... she’s had zero issues since the 13th and then she missed a few calls and had voicemails, then a day or so later, boom. Please let us know how it goesUpdate on hubby and I 12 pro max pretty much no issues on Verizon but 1 and that was this past Tuesday when calls went to voicemail when we was trying to call each other that day. We both reboot phones and no issues since yet..
