It’s Qualcomm Garbage ass X55 modem Apple dropped the ball using this modem should of just stayed with Intel modems 😐

Here’s how I repro the problem:

I have the No Signal problem on my 12 Pro on Verizon. I was testing app downloads over cellular because it seems to show the problem.
While doing this I noticed that I could get service back by texting to my Verizon escalation number. This is a green bubble non-iMessage number (899000). The text will fail, then service comes back, then you can retry the text.

Does a green bubble text restore service for anyone else?

Test Steps
-Turn off WiFi in Settings
-Download VainGlory app, it’s large
-if service is lost, text to green bubble number
-if download succeeds, then run app, then delete app and repeat test

Unlikely. I think we will see a fix in 14.3. Just my opinion, but I think there is an issue between the Skyworks Sky5 RF Modules and the QCX55 that needs tweaking.....

I see an improvement, but not a fix on 14.3 public beta 3

Just had an issue tonight again with 12 PM (Verizon). Received check at restaurant to pay I scanned the code and the web page would not load. Tried my fathers 8 Plus and wife's Xr no issues. Called Apple support spoke with a rep tried to recover my 8 plus that I traded in for my 12 PM said 8 plus has already been processed cannot be returned but was advised I can buy a SE if wanted. Why would I buy an SE? I have been a huge Apple fan since the iPhone was released on Verizon's network. I have spent thousands of dollars on Apple products over they years. I own all Apple products. Same thing happened when I purchased the iPhone 10X Max (?) with intel chip poor signal returned it to keep my 8 Plus. Sadly at this time I can no longer recommend Apple devices to anyone due to their poor quality. Tomorrow will prob return my 12 PM and go purchase a Note. Goodbye Apple.

Agreed, “Fix” was most likely hyperbole on my part. I do think this is the issue though. I don’t see this as an antenna design issue. Certainly isn’t limited to a certain carrier or band.

I wish there were a way to have more accurate data as to which RF manufacturers were involved. I believe there are at least 3 RF Module suppliers for the 12 at this point.

I don’t see the X55 as the issue.

I once parted ways with Apple for Google phones and loved them. When I switched to Sprint they didn't support Google phones so I had to come back to Apple. This issue may make me go back to Google now I am back with Verizon.

Can we tell which manufacturers RF module we have in our individual iPhones?

I‘d imagine there is a way without a tear down, but I’m not sure what diagnostic to use. Plus, I’ve not put that much effort into it as I use an 11.

Just throwing ideas on the wall to see if anything sticks.

Just curious (and sorry if this may have been asked before)...
Has anyone with Verizon who is having problems with connectivity tried putting a T-Mobile SIM in the phone and see if it still has the issues? Of course this must be done with an unlocked phone. It can either be a borrowed SIM card or a temporary prepaid one without a contract.
If I had the issues that have been described here, that's the first thing I would have tried. At least this way, if T-Mobile worked the way it should, I'd know the issue was not in the phone!

That’s a good idea. I don’t have 2 carriers though so I can’t do it. Hopefully another person can try.

I have an iPhone 12 pro max Verizon and I randomly lose service and today was the worst for the past 2 hours I had no service I reset network settings I would have service for about 2 min then back to no service this is kind of crazy, any work around? I'm on 14.2

So replacement phone number 3 was activated late Saturday night. This morning I kept losing signal entirely and had to restart the phone each time. Been connected with decent signal for about 5 hours now. Haven’t had any phone calls longer than a couple of minutes until today. Call dropped after 10 minutes, but then lasted 36 minutes until I hung up. Maybe an improvement maybe not.

As I said a couple of posts ago...someone with Verizon and an unlocked phone should try a SIM card from T-Mobile (or maybe even try AT&T)...a temporary prepaid account that can be canceled easily enough and see how the phone performs with that one.
Seems that if people could go to the trouble of exchanging phone and after phone, this can be done...a lot easier and quicker. If the phone works good on another carrier, that should tell you something.
I've had no connection issues whatsoever with an iphone 12 on T-Mobile. Not one.

I just want to add in anecdotally:

I have a mini

I also notice that my "signal bars" seem quite... unreliable? At home, my reception will switch from 5g to 4g depending on how its feeling, and ill get "1 bar" sometimes. But ive taken face time and calls with 0 drops or issues. But the reception on my phone is definitely better because I know for a fact that I had trouble getting a signal at a local target and doing web browsing iwht my 8+, but with my mini I'm now able to do either.

So I think its just the software or perhaps it has something to do with how its deciding between 5g or 4g.

I know I'm sounding like a broken record but DON'T pay attention to the signal bars.
Good example....I tried a mini before the 12. The mini almost always had 4 bars but it also had pretty bad reception.
The 12 rarely has 4 bars but does have about the best reception I've ever seen in an iphone.
The bars are arbitrary. They are not a standard measure of anything.

IIRC on the teardown videos of the iPhone 12

only the antenna lines for the 12 pro max are placed differently in the iPhone.

the mini, 12, 12pro all have the same placement.

Hey, I made an account just to post here. Having the exact same issue, picked up the iPhone 12 pro max from Apple yesterday, with Verizon sim. Service cuts in and out. Updated to 14.2 today and didn’t have service for like 10 minutes. I played with some settings and it came back, although I can’t exactly tell if it’s because I gave it time or because I did something. Should I exchange it tomorrow for a new device?

Good to know, but the difference in reception can be due to something other than the antenna placement.
Actually I'm more tending to think that the problem with the mini that I had may have been due to a defective phone.I just wanted to illustrate that the bars can be very deceiving.

I dont have time to go through the video but I recall this being said when I scrolled through this teardown a few weeks ago

Welcome to the “no service, toggle airplane mode club” , loads of good people on here with the same problem. We are working together and A lot of us are holding out on a carrier fix/apple software update and a few have returned phones . Wouldn’t want to send back a brand new phone with a problem for a refurbished phone with the same problem. I’ve been having this issue since launch 10/23... IMO I’m hanging on to this phone until someone offers a fix or apple does a recall of some sort.
