Apple or your carrier?
I have a booster from Verizon and it does no good to help the issue. My fiancee’s 11 PM stays connected to the booster with full bars while my 12 PM either gets booted off the booster or loses reception all together.
Crazy isn't it? I finally returned my 12pro (outside the 2 week period mind you) and I am back using my X. Haven't had one issue with making calls, texts or dropping service. What a shame. I really was going to convert my wife from Google to Apple but I can't even buy her a new phone! THEY DONT WORK lol

It’s absurd. I worked at T-Mobile 10+ years but always kept Verizon cuz T-Mobile was trash... I know how all this works and even I’m shocked and awed. Still won’t give T-Mobile my money tho.

I gotta be honest, I left Verizon for Sprint. Just went back to Verizon within the last year and not for nothing Verizon aint that much better.

I've stayed with Verizon because time and again they've come through in the fringe situations and the others, even AT&T, have not (I've switched around a lot over the years). Verizon is by no means perfect... sometimes they're slow and bogged down. But It's been rare that I've ever lost service completely with Verizon - well, at least until this iPhone 12 debacle... !

Talked on the phone for a total of 90 minutes today between 8 calls. Longest call was 35 minutes. No drops all day. Not sure if just luck or if this is going to stick. If I had to guess it was just luck. But I’ll take it.

My bad. Verizon is sending it. A buddy was sent one by Verizon and it solved his problem. Hoping it will do the same for me. Dropped calls are embarrassing when I’m negotiating billing with my clients.

So I just saw on the Verizon website that 5G has been turned on in certain areas of New England. And those places? Where I would go from service to no service. So I’m betting. Again. That this has everything to do with Verizon and the towers.

Has it improved for you in those areas then?

Don't get your hopes up. Verizon 5G is not that impressive. in fact, where I live, 5G speeds are slower than LTE, unless you are in the 5G UWB areas, which is extremely limited.

That’s good news. I just turned on 5G.

We’ll see if I see it.

Oh I’m not. I was just saying I am theorizing that Verizon playing with and updating towers is what has been causing all the issues. I have had zero issues with my phone now.
Tested out LTE vs 5G. Latency was the only thing better on 5G. Otherwise it was significantly slower than LTE

For those who bought through Apple, call customer service, explain the issue, have them refer to a Google search to see how widespread this is, and ask for your money back. Luckily my iPhone 11 Pro didn’t sell, moved the SIM to that phone and skipping the 12 altogether. I rely on my phone too much for work and can’t afford these issues. I purchased on launch day, and past the return date, they still did a refund.

For those who purchased through your carrier, request they swap to an 11, carriers can be flexible depending on the rep. If you don’t hear what you want from the first, call back and try the next.

In all cases, be polite!!

Also. Can we talk about how 5G (which was just turned on in New England ) is SLOWER than LTE!? Wow...
And don’t get me started on UWB... waste of technology when everywhere u can get that, you can get insanely fast WiFi.

If it was just the 5g, the other 5g phones would be having the same issue. And they quite simply aren’t. While I don’t doubt it is a factor, there is something specific to the iPhone 12 line that is causing this problem.

Here is a forum where you can read about all of the people with very similar problems with Samsung phones:

Still have not seen 5G here in MA yet.

And I turned “5G on” in cellular settings.

So I received my signal booster from Verizon a few days ago. I now have 5 bars everywhere in my home and even out in the furthest part of my yard and driveway. I live on a typical Florida lot which is a little less than 1 acre. Zero dropped calls, zero dropped signal, and totally smooth sailing.

One thing I found surprising though is the max speed for LTE on this booster seems to be around 15-25 mbps. That's far slower than when I am out and about on LTE. It doesn't matter much because the whole purpose of getting this signal booster is to stop the loss of signal and the problems that come with that. I have a fiber internet connection at home, so my WiFi is blazing and I wouldn't be depending on LTE for speed. Just an interesting and surprising finding for me.

Side note: I still don't understand why WiFi calling won't work with no cell signal. In fact, I am not even convinced that WiFi Calling is even working, even though it's turned on. The call clarity seems less than with my 11 Pro Max.

The phone searches but won’t hold a call to save a life. Apple patches the search for service bug and Great work Verizon. You haven’t done sh** on your end
