The extra camera features of the Pro Max requires the bigger size of the Pro Max. If they could fit the same features in the smaller 6.1 size they would have. Instead of having the Pro Max have the same cameras as the regular Pro they decided to make use of the extra space this year and improve it.
I don’t think so, I would almost bet money that they are the same size. It’s a money grab.

That gold phone is stunning. Never ever thought I would consider a gold iPhone, but that one is amazing. These are the best looking iPhones ever IMO.

I was gonna go blue but from the reveal the blue looks dull compared to the earlier leaks that were a Navy blue. I'm definitely going with Gold.

The mini and the pro look like the smart buys this time around, the 128GB 12 is too close to the price of the pro which has more ram, better camera, lidar. The mini other than battery doesn’t really have any disadvantages over the 12.

More than 4 gb. Competitors’ phones have twice than that.
Competitors need that much because the software they are using is not optimized. This is well known. If it was optimized, they wouldn’t need 6, 8, 10 gb of Ram. Just shows you how well apple’s software is optimized if anything.

You‘re welcome.
Seems like the video shows how the having more memory approach is more flexible, even when Apple is more efficient by handling background memory use better.

I think that at some point this'll be moot (when Apple puts more than 6 GB RAM in their iOS devices), so we're almost there.

As it always is with Apple: "maybe next year".

Prey tell how much ram should Apple give the iPhone 12 then? 12gb, 24gb, 1024gb, 2,000,000gb?
Once you demand more ram you never shut up and enough is never enough.
More ram is not as good as you think it is, just as having a bigger penis doe snot make you a great lover. It is what you do with what you have that maters.
You guys are absolutely cracking me up! 😂😂😂

Still 4GB? I guess it's enough, but I'm surprised they don't throw more in just cause they can.
Why are you surprised? Apple has always been stingy with RAM. Their newest machine, the 27" iMac top spec still ships with 8GB of RAM! They know full well that anyone buying that machine needs more than 8GB of RAM. They simply want to up-sell us for profit. Not to mention they charge $200 additional for 16GB of RAM when you can go on Amazon and get 32GB of Ram for $150.

Existing apps like Halide can already pull the RAW image from the iPhone. ProRAW offers less image processing than the normal output, so it shouldn't need more RAM.
Do you have a source for this information regarding the proRAW being somehow worse than other RAW formats?
I’m good with the ‘pro’ moniker if the feature set is consistent across the pro line, but it makes no sense for Apple to call the 6.1 ‘Pro’ when they stripped out key camera features that are exclusive to the max.
Hardly. Stripped out? Such fud. The main difference is sensor size. It’s related directly to the difference in phone size.
There are a few other differences but they’re negligible. In fact, on the tele lens, the standard pro has a bigger aperture than the max.

The differences in camera features are probably negligible to some, but I’m a pro photographer so sensor size is a big deal to me. To each their own, but I am just wishing Apple would have kept the feature set consistent across the pro line.

Because of the billions of Lightning cables and accessories that exist and have been purchased. And because no one is connecting an external monitor or high speed storage to the iPhone.
I’m not convinced that people going for the pro phones are using many lightning accessories . With that computational power of a14 and 6gb ram you basically have all you need for video editing esp on the pro max so if you want to transfer files from a go pro or drone sd card usb c would have been awesome for v fast transfer speeds

Wifey wants a 12 pro max. Goes on sale 7th November. Plus apple are offering a 24 months interest free deal locally.

The deal runs out 30th October.

My point was, we saw 6GB RAM on iPad Pro (2018). So it's unlikely to be related to the ToF sensor.

I think that 6GB of RAM is only for the 1TB Model because of how huge the storage is. I don’t know if 4GB is enough for 1TB of space due to memory management issues, which is why 512GB and below of 2018 iPad Pro could handle 4GB

unless someone can correct me
