Wow. Pro Max might be the star of the show. We'll need to see the effect of ProMotion on battery life though.
Given the LTPO display, I would say it shouldn't be impacted much if at all, as the screen will vary it's refresh rate according to what is needed. No need to run at 120Hz on static images or 24/30/60FPS media.

Bring it on! Skipped the 12 since the batt capacity stayed the same and you just knew the 5G modem was going to be more power hungry than the refined old 4G one. Guessing the updated modem in the 12s / 13 will be a little more efficient, but still a power hog and more capacity is a good thing. IMHO of course.

The modem in the 11 is actually horrible, it's the last Intel modem Apple used. Switching back to Qualcomm modems was a good move.

I'd be impressed if they manage to put the M1 into the iPhone 13, could be a reason for large battery capacity jump. M1 in an iPhone though would be insane for performance 😄

Last time I saw numbers, the mini didn't even sell poorly at all.

Mini only had an 8% increase. Better than nothing, but disappointing.

Although, both the A15 and X60 modem should save battery life too.

I see. In a sense its a bit counter intuitive but I get it.

Its just surprising that throughout the years, all these advancements in the chip didn't really translate to better battery life for everyday tasks. If you do browsing, texts, and some light youtube then in a way your battery life should be much better when comparing iPhone 7 to iPhone SE now but the reality is that my battery life is pretty much the same with any iPhone I've had. So for the average phone user - where are really the advancements between iPhone 7 and iPhone SE (2020) in terms of battery performance?
On my phone I don't really use intensive apps. In reality, it truly is : Whatsapp, some light safari, messenger, mail.

More efficient parts on its own does not equal to a longer battery life for the whole package.

For an example, more efficient cores does not mean they didn't bump the clock speed, add more cores and so on. More efficient 5G radio does not mean it uses less wattage, they may have offset it by adding more radios; like going from 2x2, up and down to 3x3 for faster download/upload perf.

If you replaced only just the battery in the iPhone 12 Max Pro, then yes, you get a longer battery life because the overall usage remains the same.

If you replace the SoC on iPhone 12 Max Pro with more efficient SoC, then no, it does not get a longer battery life by default because the overall usage may have changed, you may gained a much faster performance and it ends up using more or equal the same amount of usage, meaning less or equal battery life.

It all depends on what changes went into it or in other words, what is the balance they took with every efficiency improvement they've gained.

If these rumours are all true (120hz, bigger battery life, etc), I'm definitely jumping ship from my OnePlus 7 Pro!

The only green technology coming from Apple these days is in the form of cash in their bank accounts. If Apple cares so much about the environment, they would stop their yearly iPhone updates and move to updates every 2-3 years. Why couldn’t the 12s be 5G and have the bigger batteries? Why, because they need a feature to sell each year. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of dislikes from those who love getting a new Max each year thinking it’s so great and Apple is being so innovating, but in reality Apple is making calculated decisions on what new feature they release each so that they can milk the dead smartphone business until their car is ready. Change my mind.
Every single company on the planet will never truly address Their own environmental impact. The best they can do are some token activities to fuel their PR stunt. Apple is no exception.
Can’t wait to see the sea level rising to a level that most costal areas got submerged under water.
If apple really cares about environment, they’d not include a charging cable in the box that has USB-C port on it, but USB-A.

Youre not wrong. Apple does have to compete in a global marketplace though. Some folks on here
upgrade every year. I did't update from the 11pro because its good enough and the 12 seems to be
wiping out peoples music playlists. who knows, maybe I'll get the 13?

I would not be surprised if the M1 SoC will be used in the iPhone 13.

I would be extremely surprised, as it would be the first time that apple didn't develop a new core for a new iPhone.

The A15 will be based on the same core design as the M2, and will appear in iphone 13.

"The ‌iPhone 12 mini‌, which is the smallest ‌iPhone‌ Apple has made to date, has performed poorly in sales compared to the other models." - it might be because of the fact that the iPhone mini (despite it is called mini) is still too big and too heavy compared to the original iPhone SE (20% heavier than SE). If it were smaller and lighter, the sales figures would be certainly much, much higher.
And thank you Apple, because of the larger battery capacity the new iPhone 13 will be even heavier.
Agree (mostly). I (unfortunately) had to "upgrade" from my original SE to the 12 Mini and not a day goes by that I don't curse it for it's huge size. I don't mind the weight, but I can't operate it with one hand like my SE.
