It doesn’t bother me, but I’ve been used to the XS Max weight for the last 3 years, which is about the same as the 13 Pro weight.

I think this encapsulates the argument. It's not about being unable lift the phone, but about having the right "feel" in the hand.

btw this is coming from a...older than 28 year old male who lifts himself off the couch a few times a day.
Then the wording should either be too bulky or unbalanced.

I'm strongly considering returning the iPhone 13 Pro as well. It actually feels heavier in my hand than the 12 Pro Max it was supposed to replace.

I can't help but think it has something to do with the distribution of weight inside the phone. Maybe the weight inside the phone isn't balanced or it's simply more concentrated.

Despite the weight, I thought the 120hz screen would be enough for me to keep it, but I don't even notice it any more after just a day. Probably because I don't play games or paint/draw, where that feature would excel.
Weight distribution is important. Last year it was the 12 Pro that strained my hand and I managed better with the 12 Pro max. This time i am doing better with the 13 Pro and find the 13 Pro Max belonging to my husband is not comfortable for me.

But I do credit the 12 Pro Max for breaking me of the habit that really ruined my experience of owning the 12 Pro last year. The 12 Pro Max was too big for me to use my pinky as a “shelf” to brace the phone. That habit caused me severe nerve and joint pain. So I got the mini to carry around and the 12 Pro Max for the camera and large display. The 12 Pro max was large enough to keep me from using the pinky and still maintain a good grip.

Im just glad I can use the smaller 13 Pro this year. It is a heavy beast.

GrumpyMom I’m happy to hear that you’re able to wield the 13 Pro this year. I remember reading your post last year about the 12 Pro giving you hand pain. I was having the same issue too. I’ve gone to using my pinky as a shelf to sticking it out like I’m sipping tea so that has helped. I mainly get wrist pain now when it’s time the month, but my whole body aches during that time so that’s an outlet. Still debating if I’m going to keep my 12Pro or trade it in for a 13 Mini.

Bigger battery and bigger camera lens. = more weight. i upgraded from a 6S+ so I am used to the Max size and weight. I can feel a weight difference. I am fine using it for an extended period of time, pretty much use to it after using it for 2 days now.

The battery life on the 13 Pro Max is insane. I might just get 2 days battery life between charges. I don’t sit and watch 4K videos for 10 hours on the phone, just phone calls, texting, surfing the web and some YouTube videos. The bigger battery is a nice upgrade this year.

I have the 13 Pro Max and yes ... it is heavy. I personally would rather have a lighter battery, thus lighter phone. I don't mind charging once a day. I use a Pop Socket and it has made using the iPhone bearable and not so bad. I am coming from a 12 Pro Max so I'm used to a heavy phone.

Coming from an 11 Pro Max. To me the 13 pro max feels clunky. The added weight, width and straight edges compared to the 11 make it feel awkward in my hand. It’s a very wide device compared to all other android phones as well. I am considering going back to my 11 pro max and hoping apple will do better next year.

While the weight doesn’t bother me, the change in form factor does more than I thought it would.

The curves hide the weight and girth changes much better than hard edges.

The X to the 11 Pro was easier to take the extra heft. 11 Pro to 13 Pro makes it feel less comfortable.

That said, the “pros” outweigh the cons(double pun intended) and the 13 Pro is just so much better performance and feature-wise that there is no going backwards.

I don’t know guys… two days into this and I’m actually considering returning the 13 Pro and going back to my iPhone X. The weight is really affecting my use case of the phone. I’m often in loose shorts at home and the phone is actually dragging them down to the point where it’s uncomfortable.

Two words: fanny pack 🙃

Its only 20g heavier than the previous model and that makes no difference if you put a case on it.

What do you mean? Adding case adds more weight, obviously, so how could you say that putting a case on it makes no difference?

I had the 12 before the 13 pro. The 12 weight is infinitely better and more pleasant than the brick 13pro.

Only reason I’m not returning is the screen. Once you see the new screen your f’d, no going back…

I went back to the iPhone X from the 13 Pro and was able to get used to the 60hz screen after 15 minutes. It’s possible and for me it was way worth it.

I plan on opening an iPhone gym as soon as the pandemic is over. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on exercise machines, I will just have members lift mobile phones. I can save money by buying nonfunctional units that have been returned for repair.

You can’t make everyone happy. If they used aluminum it would scratch more easily and people would post on here Apple was trying to save money. Aluminum is more expensive as in the raw materials but I bet it costs more to machine stainless steel because it’s harder. I’m no machinist so if someone here is one perhaps they can correct me. As to be being more durable from dropping I really don’t think it makes a difference because either one can shatter when dropped onto concrete from waist high. Any durability improvement would be with scratching or wear marks

I personally went with the Max size phone because I wanted the larger screen. To all those saying they would be willing to trade battery life for weight I say no absolutely not. I went with a larger phone so I know it’s going to be large and heavy and I want the battery to last. I would not be happy with less battery life. If you want smaller and lighter that’s were the Mini size phone comes into play.

Running belt. I always use one for my phone and car keys, don't want them bouncing and jangling around in my pockets while I'm running, no matter how much they do or don't weigh. Kinda the same thing as a fanny pack, but sleeker, fits tighter to the body and holds less.

Coming from an 11 Pro, definitely a very noticeable change in size. Same size, but much ticker. I like that the edges are flat for easier hold, but am waiting for some full day battery tests on daily use for final update.

Note that if you migrate directly, you may experience a few glitches. Would’ve started fresh, but got alot of apps/data to transfer. The lock screen button just collides sith the time..

To be fair, if s/he had a case on the previous phone, then the case on the new phone doesn't add to the weight differential.
