It's not suprising but I do hope Apple will not apply this to EU prices. They just raised them this year to ridicilous rates due to exchange rate (Which is now backtracking)
Yep wise decision and thats when I also decide on my upgrade from my 14 ProMax which is quite fine for me. I get tired of the hype that tries to make us dissatisfied with the wonderful tech devices we currently own in order to get into the frenzy of upgrades each year LOL. But they keep adding things I like so they know me too well LOL. We shall see this time.Well, I will sit and wait for when the 15 series is actually announced, look at what it has to offer and then make my decision to upgrade my 13PM or not…
We'll see how that pans out, but I think the EU will take a very dim view on Apple doing this because it would negate the rationale behind mandating USB-C to begin with.
My Anker USB-C cables work fine now with my MBA and iPad and there is no MFi certification on those. I can't buy into the rumor that Apple will pivot on iPhones.
The majority of the geeks (including me) trolling these forums get a new phone every year. If you can't afford the latest and greatest, don't get one. (not financial advice)
It would also send a message to Apple: Hey, we don't like your overpriced phone.
You fall into the category of a "Pro", so there is a benefit for you upgrading every year. Like Craig Federighi said in an interview, if those images you capture are priceless and you need to have the best advances, upgrading every year is gonna be worth it for you. For users like me, I like taking the occasional photos, like the following on my way to replace a keyboard:@Mr. Dee a nice list. The advent of the AUP leasing scheme of only paying half the price for year and moving up has made it affordable on my pension even from State of Illinois. But as I posted in earlier reply to my good friend @TheYayAreaLiving 🎗 there would have to be a number of reasons for me to jump this fall for the 15.
Now I doubt I would go from 14 to 20 however. I could see though going from my 14 no sooner than 16 Pro/Ultra, but perhaps going to a 17 on three year cycle. Put my monthly money away after paying the 14. Then when time comes after 3 years with saving my typical AUP monthly fee would have enough to buy new phone outright ad also get out of the craze to have my phone opening day and the often snafus that made me get there half time in last 5 plus years LOL (a true first world problem for sure)
The phones are getting to the point that they are so powerful and loaded with many tools and features that I do not even use half of them LOL. So if they do not put some major camera things I like I am getting to the point with enough iPhone for my every use at moment. But as @TheYayAreaLiving 🎗 mentioned in the post I replied to, a major innovation and all bets are off for me as they were for her.
But no one is saying no with their wallets. Only with their keyboards.HaHa. If enough say no, prices will decrease. Even mighty Apple Inc wants the revenue much more than Apple product buyers need the next new <Apple thing>. The buyers just don't seem to recognize that... or care (yet).
Usually I'd say the same, in fact the only reason I didn't get the 14 is the lack of USBC.Well that makes this is an easier decision than usual, sounds like I'll be keeping my 13 Pro another year.
Yep I think you are correct tend to be a pro user as a retired geologist and person who loves nature and outdoors. I guess we will see where things go for me after we see the real 15 Pro revealed. You fall into the category of a "Pro", so there is a benefit for you upgrading every year. Also, if you are putting aside cash as an expense and part of an upgrade program it definitely makes acquisition each year much easier. I think this is the model Apple wants to expand to, where everyone just leases their iPhone. It would be the holy grail for Apple to get people subscribing to hardware.
It is in the U.S. - all EuropeansTotally get that. Current price is absurdly low.

The average person can barely afford food and rent due to inflation, tech companies are firing workers despite record profits, Apple is holding back bonuses on it's employees.
And honestly there is nothing wrong with that. If that's what the market says it is worth, then that's what it should cost. In a way it's not Apple even setting the price. The market does. Apple tests new prices, and the market responds one way or the other. Truth is that iPhone is actually vastly underpriced for the value that it brings. So it has room to climb. Compare it to many other things we pay for in life, and iPhone brings a lot more value than many other things in its price range.Right and that's why the price increases just keep on coming (not really because of "inflation" or "supply chain" or "covid" or even "parts cost more"). Sellers are completely happy to take as much as buyers will pay. We can all look forward to $2K iPhones and then $3K... and then $5K iPhones as long as we keep rationalizing "just pay"... "just a little more in the monthly payment"... "easy payments over time", etc.
Right, is someone struggling to pay for rent and food supposed to be a customer of the latest high end Pro iPhone? Lol. There are iPhones from $400 to $1200 for a reason. If someone can't barely afford to survive, then they shouldn't buy iPhones and especially not the flagship phone.
Maybe "the average person" need to rethink their priorities then.....if you can barely afford food and rent, you certainly don't need to be buying the latest iPhone and especially the "Pro or Pro Max" That's just irresponsible. The average person can barely afford food and rent due to inflation, tech companies are firing workers despite record profits, Apple is holding back bonuses on it's employees.
But Tim the bean counter decides now is a good time to increase prices.
Nobody is gunna deprive themselves of that latest and greatest iPhone experience just to "send a message to Apple".
