So basically they just will flip flop from flat to curved every redesign haha.

I personally strongly prefer flat sides. Much easier to pick up off a flat surface.

Also I don't get the ergonomic argument for curved backs. If you use a case it really should not matter. Plus most of us use our phones with two hands now. Gone are the days of compact iPhones that you could easily use with one hand. (iPhone Mini aside.)

Slab phones are a bore now regardless of these redesign tweaks.

rather wait for iPhone 17 years later. people are forgetting 16 might be a foldable phone. I don't want it. wait until these next few years are over.

The reading comprehension is kinda crazy in here. No one said the display won’t be flat nor did it imply there will be curved displays. Nor did they say they will bring back the iPhone 11 design. Curved BEZELS, meaning the black rim. If anything, they’ll look more aesthetically pleasing and shrink the size of it making it more comfortable for those with smaller hands. Believe it or not, the sides can still be boxy with curved bezels but some of you are unimaginative to visualize that.
It also said “a look similar to the Apple Watch”, which could mean slightly curved instead of flat sides.

I assume this is just bezeled glass. That would be fine. As long as the phone keeps the flat-sided aesthetic and doesn't turn in to a weird Android phone with their curved displays and other oddities I'm fine with it.

If it's just curved frames, then cool I like that design but my favorite feature of the last 3 gens of iPhones have been the flat screens. I do not ever want another phone with a curved screen and I have to assume anyone who does has never used a Samsung flagship long enough to realize what a useless, impractical, annoying hindrance curved screens are. They should have stayed a concept.

They were referring to the ultra thin bezels on the S8 that curve. Other reports are saying a hybrid of the boxy design with curved edges, perhaps the iPhone 5C design. If it had curved sides, it would literally just be the iPhone 11 design as those have 2.5D glass edges as well.

I am really good with my Mini now.

My next iPhone will be a phone just as small or smaller than iPhone Mini. Foldable, collapsible or whatever shrinkable tech that will come. Maybe not this year or next, but some wizard phone will come.

The edge design of the Apple Watch is different from the iPhone 6-11, it's somewhat less rounded. If they go with that edge design, I think it would look distinct from all previous iPhones (both flat and round).

I prefer the flat shape. If they go for a curves it will only be to change just for the sake of it.

I don’t know about this. It doesn’t look modern.

I don't think they were referring to the edge/chassis design of the Apple Watch. That's also the wrong watch model, not the S7/S8 because if you took out the watch band... I would probably mistake that for the corner of an iPhone XR. They were referring to the ultra thin bezels that curves into the chassis, but every report so far has mentioned that the sides were still flat.

I imagine the 15 to be similar to the rumored Apple Watch flat design a couple years ago with the bezels to be a little bit more curved/rounded.

The curved corners are still horrible. A display should always be rectangular, because most content is rectangular. A curved corner throws away pixels. That strange idea came many years ago, when some smartphone makers were proud that they can built displays that are not rectangular. The result are rounded corners, nodges, circular holes and "dynamic islands". Is it too much to ask that every row of a display has the same number of pixels?
It doesn’t seem like you’re new here, but you don’t know that round rects are everywhere?

I don't mind a redesign, as it actually helps keeping the phone fresh, and itì's always more exciting to buy your next phone in the refresh year (I'll move from a Standard 13 to a Pro(Ultra 15 in September).
I only hope it'll be a good redesign; I'm not a big fan of the curved display, however I'd like to see a design similar to the newer macbooks, with the rounded corners in the back.

I tend to not pay attention to iPhone rumors until March/April, but this would be welcome. The iPhone 15 Pro might be a phone worth upgrading to after the lackluster 14 model year. Let's see...
