The reading comprehension is kinda crazy in here. No one said the display won’t be flat nor did it imply there will be curved displays. Nor did they say they will bring back the iPhone 11 design. Curved BEZELS, meaning the black rim. If anything, they’ll look more aesthetically pleasing and shrink the size of it making it more comfortable for those with smaller hands. Believe it or not, the sides can still be boxy with curved bezels but some of you are unimaginative to visualize that.

While Apple is exploring different screens, they should choose one that works with the Apple Pencil.

Excellent! I’m ready for a design change on an iPhone. Still believe the iPhone XS was one of the best curvy designs yet. Hopefully, Apple gets inspired by it.

I beg to disagree. I own one. It's the only iPhone that I managed to drop accidentally and crack the glass. The other designs where the sides are a flat sheet of metal, I've dropped but the glass hasn't cracked.

Since everyone hates them for the butterfly keyboard and they had to back down on that, are they trying to ruin the phones now?

AnemoneAppleUltra said the iPhone 15 Extreme will have three screens and built in wired headphones with a headlight and bell.

The curved corners are still horrible. A display should always be rectangular, because most content is rectangular. A curved corner throws away pixels. That strange idea came many years ago, when some smartphone makers were proud that they can built displays that are not rectangular. The result are rounded corners, nodges, circular holes and "dynamic islands". Is it too much to ask that every row of a display has the same number of pixels?
I disagree.

I don’t want something with sharp corners in my pocket. So with that a given, the device is going to have rounded corners, the display might as well go up to the edges. A display with rounded corners therefore aren’t an example of ‘thrown away’ pixels. They are additional pixels you’d never have otherwise got.

If you want a sharp cornered rectangular device then fine, we simply disagree. But I think that would be uncomfortable to hold and put in pockets. Aside from not looking that great.

I just want them to curve off the back and keep the front flat.
Like the iPod Touch 2nd and 3rd generation, or the iPad 2, or the iPhone 5C.
At least on the corners, it makes it easier to grip.

Not for me. I dislike that curved-back appearance. I must prefer the flat sides that we have today. It took them years to bring that back, and I'm glad that they listened.

As for thinner bezels, I find the bezels on my iPhone 13 Pro too thin already. If I'm holding the phone in my palm, touches become less reliable elsewhere on the screen until I adjust my grip. Thin bezels might look cool, but they are bad for usability.

These are design changes I’m in favour of, I prefer the curved feeling in hand to the current angular one, despite objectively the angular design looking nicer

I am uncertain if I will upgrade my iPhone 12 Pro Max this year. The design changes if little are still a welcome change.

I might wait for the 16 pro max or ultra given the pin holes will be reduced with the FaceTime camera being removed, and the slimming of bazels rumoured this year.

Means this will be the biggest change for me, as I prefer more display.

Cool so all those curved displays are such a hit along with 3D. You are not using that device continually for 6-8 hours a day similar to if one was sitting or standing while working. Maybe time to cut back on device usage seems like an unhealthy addiction. Good thing we have curved screen laptops and tablets for ergonomic sake 😜
Yeah you have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about.

The iPhone 6 all the way through iPhone XS did not have curved screens buddy. It was curved edges.

Curved edges feel far more comfortable in the hand than sharp square edges. That’s an objective fact about humans. Sorry you literally can’t argue it.

Now go get yourself a square steering wheel, change your door knobs to squares, etc etc.

Enjoy

Exciting news if true! I love my curved iPhone 6s+, yes you read correctly - it doesn’t have a scratch on it, and I’ve had the battery replaced only once, I think as part of a safety recall. Anyway, I’ve been holding out to upgrade for a while (understatement), but if the iPhone looks good and keeps working, I didn’t see any point.

I want a screen on the back and sides too, with a FaceTime camera on the top and bottom of both sides so it doesn't matter which way you grab your phone it's always the "right" way. I guess the pro cameras need to go somewhere, so this idea would probably work better for a foldable phone (with the screens on the "outside") so the pro cameras can go inside the fold.

Good. I think the square design looks nice but is awkward to hold because it's not helping out at all to compensate for how big they've made phones now. I wouldn't mind them having that changed back when it's time for me to upgrade.
