I can confirm MMS is working for me. I did an upgrade from 2.2.1 to 3.0b2 last night. The first time I tried I got the red exclamation point. I turned WiFi off and rebooted the phone. I then sent my sister (on T-Mobile) a picture. She sent me a message back saying she received the picture, then she sent me a picture, which I received just fined. So I can send and receive pictures in 3.0b2. Haven't tried to receive video yet.

What does the message come through as when you send it to a 2.2.1 iPhone 3g? Does it come through embedded in the SMS message?

Considering 2.2.1 doesn't support the MMS feature, I'm guessing it would be the vmm.com message.

if everyone who has MMS working could please post a few more bits of info it would be really helpful to those of us who don't have it working:

- did you restore after installing 3.0b2 or did you set up as a new phone?
- what model iPhone are you using? (seems to be working on 8gig not 16gig)
- Are you on a Family Plan? (Family messaging plans include MMS)
- Are you on FAN plan? (MMS might be blocked for corporate accounts)
- What messaging bundle is listed under your features on the AT&T website? (Mine says iPhone Unlimited Text which I think is my issue)

Thanks!

hey my question is when i do as a new phone so everything works i loose my contacts email settings and everything how can i put that back on. if i do a restore than im back to square one where nothing works. mms and youtube.

I have mms working although sometimes it doesnt work and sometimes it does. I have received pictures, audio and video. I am on a 3G phone that is 16gb.

- I downloaded the beta 2 from the developer page and then I did the click option and update and uploaded the beta 2. I didnt do anything with new phone settings.

- I dont believe I am on a family plan. I just have the unlimited text plan for the iphone. I havent called ATT or changed anything.

Text/IM Messaging
UNLIMITED
Used 700 of Unlimited

Internet/MEdia Net
UNLIMITED
Used 98.82MB of Unlimited

iPhone Text Messaging Unlimited is what I am on under the Features section.

- I am not on a family plan or associated with a business.

I also havent messed with the phone during the first beta or this one as in updating a carrier file or anything. Any other questions, feel free to ask.

i changed my plan to a regular plan through att
also had the WAP push enabled

still no luck

VIDEO MMS WORKS!!

At least I can RECEIVE IT - this was shot via SonyEricsson W800i video mode and sent from TMobile to my 3G iPhone.

iPhone is now the ultimate phone! =)

I've already tested text/mms/audio/and now video works 100% as it should with mms. If only the iPhone can send videos...

I seem to have all the same setting as hazelgreene but MMS is a no go for me.

Must be some other variable we arent aware of.

i know it doesn't shed too much light on the situation but i seem to have the same configuration also.
didn't change my IPPC file
ran a restore and reverted to backup
iPhone 3g 16gig
unlimited iphone text plan
I do have a fan discount on my plan but i know MMS is allowed

im going to give att a call and see if they are willing to change my text messaging plan from the iPhone specific plan to just the unlimited texting plan and see if that fixes the problem. I have lived without MMS for quite some time so another few months isn't going to kill me but i would like to see it work. Im tired of being made fun of because i can't get picture messages on my $500.00 phone

Yah, I am not quite sure why it is working for me. It seems to be working more and more than it was yesterday though. I wish I could tell you all what to do but it is a mystery to me as well.

I'm going to regurgitate the info:

* I have unlimited family text plan since last july 08. $30 for all 3 phone lines and 2 of those are iPhones.

* Never once did I take out my sim or my other iPhone's sim and swapped it into an mms capable phone to try to send any mms OR TEXT messages.

* Never called AT&T to alter or to question about mms.

* Never changed ANYTHING on my plan since day 1 initial purchase.

* Currently using a FAN discount on first two lines.

* Have been texting since July 08 and still texting

* Began MMS'ing to non-iphone and non-AT&T networks since yesterday when Beta 2 was installed on my dev iPhone. It just WORKED the first time.

* Using beta 1, when trying to send an mms, it will fail with an "!".

* Using beta 2, in the console log of xcode's organizer, you can see clearly the mmsc data and the iPhone's log of the message being sent thru and when you receive mms messages, it states so as well.

I don't know about you folks, perhaps AT&T did alter the system to allow for mms on the iPhone. I did not call in or hack with custom carrier plist to get it to work on beta 1. I just downgraded back to 2.2.1 and called it quits. Until beta 2, I wasn't able to send mms but now I can send and receive (all video, text, pictures).

woww..thats awesome!!!!!

Mine was working with Beta1. Beta2 broke it. Updated the carrier settings, to the same as the one I used on the Beta1. Re-did the whole media net thing, twice. And presto! works. Trying to get someone to send me a video message now.

The Unlimited Family Text plan automatically includes MMS. It is one of the ways people used to get SwirlyMMS to work. That's why it is enabled on your phone.

My suspicion is that AT&T is slowing provisioning all phones for MMS, but it hasn't reached everyone yet.

Well this is pretty weird. I had the iPhone unlimited, Tried to send 2 messages no luck. Just added the family plan. Rebooted my phone..and got a picture message to send, and it was received by my friend on Verizon. Tried to send him another one, no luck. He sent me one, no luck. Hope this helps some, if you want to know anymore about my phone (yes Beta 2) I will share details.

Edit: The second one just randomly sent after 14 tries of resending the red !.

just got off the phone with ATT. Switched over to the unlimited messaging plan from the iPhone texting plan to include MMS. Reset the phone and still no go. Im going to give it a little while but Im quite tempted to alter my IPPC file and see if that fixes things

Question

What a suprise. Decided to try it <again> - this time MMS works! I come from 2.2.1 -> 3.0b2.

I can send MMS/Receive MMS without any errors nor did I have to modify any carrier .plists!

Update:

In USA, AT&T 3G , with iPhone 3G, firmware 3.0b2 - 2.2.1 upgrade to 3.0b2 with complete backup restored.

No settings changed, nothing on my end I did to make it work. I just sent a message (MMS) and it worked! I can receive and send to multiple AT&T people AND TMobile accts as well!

UPDATE: VIDEO MMS WORKS!!

Do you have a mac or PC? Did you download the new sdk?

Can someone post their ATT carrier settings file??

I can't get MMS and tethering to work together..

It's either one or the other.

I can email you the file that i'm using for both iphones
MMS and tethering (usb and bluetooth on unibody MB)
if you have where to post it ....

About MMS and Tethering

OK... we all know that apple said that mms and tethering WILL NOT be available during the beta testing.
With that said, some used the modified ipcc to enable tethering and MMS.
What i did in oredr to have them working :
Used the modified IPCC in beta1 on 8GB and 16GB iphones 3G
The tethering option will show in Network Settings.
In order to work, you NEED the SDK installed on the Mac.
With the MMS -- after installing the ipcc i called ATT and added the 200 message plan FOR the Iphone.
Then I asked to REMOVE the MMS BLOCK from the account.
Been working fine since then.

1. Both restore from 2.2.1 and new phone worked for me
2. 16GB white 3G
3. Family plan with unlimited family messaging
4. FAN discount (27%)
5. Says "Family Unlimited"

doesnt work for me wtf how is it working for some of you :(

I just put my sim card into another phone and changed my text plan from iPhone Unlimited Texting to Unlimited texting. They are both $20 a month. When I put my sim card back in my iPhone I sent and received picture messages.
