I just put my sim card into another phone and changed my text plan from iPhone Unlimited Texting to Unlimited texting. They are both $20 a month. When I put my sim card back in my iPhone I sent and received picture messages.

It hasn't been working for me, but I did put my iPhone sim card in another phone and sent a few MMS messages (the first one failed, but worked after that) Then I sent a few more to myself to make sure I was getting them. I put the sim card back in the iPhone (without doing anything with my account). The first try failed, so I did a hard reset and it worked. MMS is SLOW!!!! (it looks like it is going to fail but it went through after about 20-30 seconds. :D

I can't change my APN settings, and I'm not getting the camera icon in the MMS App. I have searched this site and google and the instructions I have found don't seem to be working; I'll do the search in Library/iTunes/iPhone Carrier and it keeps drawing a blank (nothing turns up out of the search at all).

I'm stuck. Can someone give me some advice or help me find a solution?

How'd u get it

How'd u get it to start working? Every time i try to send, it says
"Your Message was not sent. Tap 'Try Again' to send this message"
what did you do. i'm on 3g, in the US, what else?

I don't know what you've done so far or what you've changed or if you were jailbroken, etc. Perhaps some additional information with tell us if it's random or if you've done something different.

Personally, like OP, I downloaded the beta OS. Added my iPhone's unique ID to my account in the developer portal. Installed the OS and set up as new iPhone. I didn't change anything else in the iPhone, with AT&T, etc. I can send MMS with no problem. But I've only tried receiving from Verizon - with no luck.

my 2 cents

I've been looking at the console logs while trying to MMS messages with no success and this is what i see.

Wed Apr 1 20:35:04 unknown CommCenter[26] <Notice>: MMS: sending request to mmsc
Wed Apr 1 20:35:04 unknown CommCenter[26] <Notice>: MMS: proxy wireless.cingular.com:80
Wed Apr 1 20:35:04 unknown CommCenter[26] <Notice>: MMS: binding to context 0
Wed Apr 1 20:35:04 unknown CommCenter[26] <Notice>: MMS: open completed
Wed Apr 1 20:35:08 unknown CommCenter[26] <Notice>: MMS: sent 240085 of 240085 bytes (100%)
Wed Apr 1 20:35:13 unknown CommCenter[26] <Notice>: MMS: connection completed
Wed Apr 1 20:35:13 unknown CommCenter[26] <Error>: MMS: MMSC response = 403
Wed Apr 1 20:35:13 unknown CommCenter[26] <Error>: MMS: responseStatusLine = HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden
Wed Apr 1 20:35:13 unknown CommCenter[26] <Error>: MMS: no response from MMSC
Wed Apr 1 20:35:13 unknown CommCenter[26] <Notice>: MMS: done with MmsSend 11

Any other devs that have the mms working or not working i would like to see which server it is trying to connect to when you are sending MMS messages and the server response you are given. I have this feeling that the default carrier for the iphone 3.0 beta 2 firmware without updated carrier settings is using the media net proxy.

Dang its iPhone texting unlimited. How do I go about changing that?

You can switch the SIM card into a "normal" phone to trick the system so the features page shows the other package for you to select or you can call customer service to try to get them to add it (they most likely won't).

@8767092: The bill says iPhone Texting Unlimited too, I swapped the SIM card into my old Razr and tried sending a picture to my cousin, but the message failed. Should I try it again or something?

I don't have access to the account (it's under my dad's name and he's out of town right now) - Should/would this process work to attempt to trick the system? Any other suggestions? Or should I just take the plung, dump my JailBroken iPhone 2.2.1 and up to 3.0 B2 as a new phone?

Also, by setting it up as a new phone, would I have to wipe the phone, set it up, then do a restore or something?

Just swapping the sim card to the Razr is useless. You need to do that AND log into the at&t website feature management to select the right messaging package.

i got the beta and asked them to change my texting plan, they did and i can see it on my plan online that i have the unlimited messaging plan not the iphone one and i still can't send or receive. anything else i should try?

I've never jailbroken or unlocked the phone. I also didn't set the phone up as a "new phone." Do you think that could be my problem with not being able to get MMS to work? Like I said, I'm not even getting the camera icon in the Text App on the phone.

MMS ON iPHONE Explained

If you look at the dev log I posted above the way the iphone sends default MMS is VIA the media net http proxy, the key here is if you have media/internet use enabled for your account, (the easiest way to do this is the family talk unlimited data). 5 minutes after I added that to my account the MMS worked flawlesly to all carrier and without an ipcc change.

Camera icon isn't there if you don't have MMS turned on in settings screen..
If you enable it, it should show up..

someone wanna PM me on where I can 'obtain' this beta 2....I've got a copy of beta 1 but thats old news now! lol

looked a million places.....but finally found it. So I'm assuming that just like beta1 if you don't like it, you can't downgrade can you.

Anyone else know why the camera icon in MMS isn't showing up? The phone is not jailbroken or unlocked, and MMS is turned on in the phone's settings. I did an upgrade install the first time, and I did a full restore a second time.

I didn't create a "new phone," but a friend who is working on the dev kit with me just tried this and he's encountered the same problems. We're both on Rogers.

ok so i just restored from the new software and it gives me the purple screen and boots up itunes which tells me my phone isn't part of a dev device and wont' activate??? wtf??? am I missing something?

Yes.

You need to get your phone's ID, which is a 40 digit long jumble of numbers and letters and input it in the Developer Program Portal under "Devices." To get the code open up Xcode and it should display it.

After that you're phone should activate. I ran into the same problem doing my install. We all have to remember to read the instructions.

Can you please let me know once you have everything installed if the camera icon in the Text App appears for you?
