I was in Computers Now this afternoon and saw a conspicuous box sitting in the corner. I snapped a picture of it with my iPhone while they weren't looking.. shhhh!

a telstra employee on the mactalk forums claims to have the telstra plan details, see HERE.

and they don't look good as far as data goes.

and it looks like the plans that shortlex has linked to.

yeah that the place I was searching..

I though the wifi was a good value but looking at the amount of calls and the lame data packs.. I don't know what to think, I though finding a store with iphone was a problem but man.. I don't know what carrier.

Well... if the leaked Telstra plans are true then the iPhone will not be available on a cap or monthly payment.

Compared to them, Vodafone doesn't seem that bad!

Jeez, did no one see this? :)

I've also seen a post that says stock is already allocated for Optus World stores and that they won't be getting more in until early August!

source

I'm confident I could get one from Vodafone for launch, but not Optus. Wonder if it's worth the 3-4 week (or longer) wait for better value plans

has anyone compared the telstra prices to say rogers canada? (or NZ voda?)

i mean are they the WORST iphone plans in the world, or just damn close to it?

I don't know the lowest telstra plan is 30 dollars which includes 25 dollars worth of calls and txt and 5MB.. you have to add on data packs if you want more data... It does include free wifi, but my TAFE is pretty far from the nearest Starbucks. hehe Mt Druitt..

This iphone launch is becoming a bit of an anti climax. There is so much confusion about and only Optus have told us how much it will cost. I have to work on Friday and can't get to a store so it will probaly be well into August before I eventually get one.

But it will give these useless phone companies time to get their act together and present their plans. I registered with telstra, Vodafone and optus and keep getting these stupid emails about how they will get in touch with me and all that. It's crap, they obvioulsy don't know what's going on and iphones are going to be as rare as Hens Teeth in Australia.

Good luck to you all trying to get one I hope you succeed but I am feeling FRUSTRATED as I can't get to a store before they sell out!!!

Make no mistake I really want one but with all the stuffing about I don't think other people will be so forgiving and I fear a big anti iphone backlash coming....

$25 of calls, at their current rate (46c/30sec), works out to like 26 min... per month.

i'm so disappointed with telstra, but i suppose it is what i was expecting :(

What are the chances of me getting TWO iPhones on Friday? I have a deposit in for myself, but I was looking to also get one for my girlfriend at the same time so it would save her the trouble. AFAIK there are no limits per customer...will they allow it?

Great. If you go to Telstra :)

Hehe shortlex, go the druitt! I'm from the riff ;)

At the moment I'm waiting for Vodafone to confirm their caps. After consideration last night I think I may be able to get away with 250mb of data as I have wifi both at work and at home.

But I'm on a 79 cap at the moment, going back down to 310 from 550 might be tricky.

A little confused...

Could someone please clarify this for me because I am a little confused.

With the 'Yes' Cap Plans:
$19 per month gets you 100mb of data plus $50 worth of calls
and if you add on $26 per month for the 16gb iphone
Total per month: $45

With the 'Yes' Plans:
$29 per month gets you 250mb of data plus $24 worth of calls.
and if you add on $17 per month for the 16gb iphone
Total per month: $46

Yet what I don't understand is with the 'Yes' Plans, If I choose the 'Yes' Text and Talk calling offer, doesn't the 'Yes' Plan become a much better deal?
Am I correct in thinking that this calling offer more than halves the call rate?

I just got my last Telstra mobile bill.. I made TEN (10) calls last month, mostly under 1 minute each. Seriously. I spent more in SMS than in calls.

I want data, I don't want to talk to people... phone calls are a last century thing. :)

Yes cap plan @ $19 - $50 calls equals (roughly) 53 min + 100mb data (47c/30sec)

Yes plan @ $29 - $24 calls equals (roughly) 28 min +250 mb data + 100 SMS (Yes free texts.) (42c/30sec)
OR
Yes plan @ $29 - $24 calls equals (roughly) 54 min +250 mb data (Yes talk and text = 22c/30sec.)

So the call rate is only halved if you choose the "Yes talk and text", not if you choose the "Yes free texts"

yea i was just about to post that what a shame i really thought voda would do better

Yeah its terrible. Vodafone's cheapest cap is the $69 cap, which is pretty much equivalent to the Optus $49 iPhone cap. That is terrible (oh, and Vodafone are charging more for the phone too).

Great, when I though I was gonna have a good day and go to work, this came up. I guess I need to wait inline for Optus now..

Anyone got news on Telstra stuff yet?
