Can I just ask what plans people are on (and the details of them) for those who have chosen to go with Optus? I'm going to be ordering mine on Friday (it'll arrive the Friday after that) and am looking at the plans, trying to decide.

I ended up choosing the Optus $59 Cap with a 16GB phone for $7 over 24 months. I would have gone for the $49 Cap but once you include the cost of the phone for only an extra $5 you get an extra $50 of calls/text plus your data jumps from 250 to 500mb.

optus $59 cap with $2/month repayments over 24 months. (8gb)
very happy with it so far.

however i used to get 4-5 bars of 3g reception, now lucky to get 2, usually only 1. not sure why yet!

Well, I rainchecked my iPhone 16GB on July 12. At Optus they told me that the next batch of stock would come in Friday 18 July and that I would get it then.

I sure hope so!! :D

Yes that's true.

Absolutely no stores have any idea as to when the next batch of iPhones will arrive. Not any of the Optus stores I have been to, and the Telstra i[Life] store has no idea either so yeah.

I rainchecked a prepaid 16GB at every single one of those Optus stores last Friday morning (after I waited in line at 6am...) to highten my chances of getting one as soon as they come in, and hopefully it will be this Friday.

And after mulling over which colour to get, I've decided that seeing as though I'm getting 2 (one each for me and my girlfriend), that I may just buy one of either and let my girlfriend decide. Though now I'm leaning towards white, and the missus likes the black, so it may be sorted...

Optus was wrong!!!

They didn't get any iPhones in today, and they don't know when they will. I'll probably have to wait another week, two or maybe even three.....

Oh well....

and rainchecked means that you have already signed the contract... and are already paying for the phone/monthly fees?

man... sucks to be in that position :(

I'm also on optus $79/24months $0 for iphone 8gb, 700mb download $550 worth of calls.
I ended up only getting the 8gb because not all of my music would fit on the 16gb one anyway, so there was no point :)

Yep, the contract is signed, and fees are already being paid....

I just hope it'll arrive sometime early next week (since Optus don't receive orders on weekends).

Yeah I signed up for a raincheck at the Optus store in Box Hill at 8am on launch day, and they're now telling me that they won't have any in for another 3 weeks. What annoys me is that other stores have already received shipments, but I'm stuck since I've already signed up to a new contract (they told me I would get it sooner if I did!!).

NOT true.
I just did 2 days work experience at the bondi My Mac\Optus store(iPhone) and we froze the period of time the people had paid for until they got their iPhone so they only pay for the month which they get their iPhone, They don't pay BEFORE they have their phone in their pocket.

it's good to know your experience on this mattyk, but as you see from my first post, i was actually asking a question.

i have heard that other people rainchecked on optus are already paing their contracts (mactalk forums i think) so it might pay for people to check?

maybe all optus stores don't have the same policy? maybe optus world is different to strathfield/mymac/allphones.

i hope optus has everyones contracts on hold, but it would suck pretty hard if this wasn't the case.

Optus, $79 Cap, 12 months - I got the 16gb... so its $79/month and $37 handset. I only wanted a 12 month contract as I'm sure apple will want to refresh the product again within 12 months.... I do love a new toy.

Optus (Stafford, BNE) have indicated I should get mine by Tuesday...

Oh... I also got $8/month handset insurance...so if she breaks a new one costs me $100.

So what does everyone think of the Vodafone $169 cap?
1GB Data, $1200 included calls & txt, Plus the 100 free txt/free hours or Best Mate option?
I've already got the iPhone, unlocked, and now looking at options.
Let me know what you think...

Massively over priced.

Optus have got the best deals hands down in Australia. The other guys are going to have to seriously sharpen the pencils soon or they'll lose customers.

Optus have better coverage, better value plans and free WiFi hotspots. There is absolutely no advantage to Vodafone. I could see someone going with Telstra if that's the only way to get coverage, but I have no idea why anyone would even consider Vodafone.

same reasoning here

just "pre sold" 2 unlocked Optus iPhones on ebay...... iThink iWill be iScrewed
