what do you think guys? i just got through on AT&T...I don't know if I should continue waiting for Apple's site to go through or just order it

Just order it. Make sure you don't submit the order multiple times though. If it craps out, walk away and try again in a few hours, once things are better, IMO. I got lucky - when I checked the agree box to the new contract and clicked on the button to finalize the order it took about 20 seconds and then brought me to the order confirmation page. I received an e-mail almost instantly thereafter.

I skipped out of my order with ATT - too risky IMO. Some1 earlier here said Apple doesnt admit anything and ATT just doesnt give a sh*t about u - totally true...they will get you with all their terms, etc...could care less if you are happy

by now their inventory numbers have to be accounted for - youd be ordering a backordered phone. go thru apple if u can

I went with Apple all the way because something tells me not everyone is going to get their phones on the 24th from AT&T. However, once Apple gets the order straight, they are usually dead on with shipping.

exactly. apple cares about their reputation....they will stick to their word. ATTs reputation is to be the worst customer service company in existence :D

my order was PROCESSING with ATT and i was basically like "wtf...what am i doing, im going to get screwed and not have any control over it once 24th comes around" -cancelled that sucker and got a reservation with Apple store. I hope that works...

Apple doesn't care about you either. As far as Apple is concerned, as soon as the phone is out of their door it's your problem. AT&T, on the other hand, has to compete with other companies, constantly dealing with customer service complaints, etc. - they get a bad rap because they are the ones with whom we all have to deal once we have the phone - unless you have a warranty issue or a defective unit, you don't ever go back to Apple again.

Both sites are very wonky right now but it doesn't look like anyone is actually placing orders through Apple right now - the only recent orders appear to be from AT&T, online. People can reserve a phone via the Apple Store iPhone app for in-store pickup but I'd rather not worry about them backing out of reservations due to stock problems and have the phone overnighted to my house for delivery on the 24th.

As far as AT&T order fulfillment goes - I've had no issues ordering through AT&T in the past - their shipping is prompt (sometimes even early).

I actually just checked my Apple Store app and I clicked on the Reservations tab and it says my reservation is booked for the iPhone 4...:D

My concern with AT&T was that while Apple will ship for delivery on the 24th (with a 99% chance it will go smoothly for most everyone), AT&T may not actually ship out the door until the 24th, meaning arrival on the 25th or later. Its happened before.

that doesn't mean your guaranteed to get one, you never payed for it

No one has paid for it yet unless you ordered through AT&T...everyone who preorders from Apple to pick up from the store doesn't pay and pick it up before the store closes next Thursday

Funny, now when I try to pre-order on the Apple store instead of timing out during the AT&T verification it dumps me to a page that says the pre-order could not be completed but a new choice came up to allow the selection of a local Apple store for a reservation.

i never said apple cared about me...they care about themselves and their reputation though - which is more to say than a lot of companies these days. ATT in this case does NOT have competition...no one else has the iphone...they have terrible attitudes - been with them since probably 2003. Oh well my reception is always great, no complaints, cant wait to get this phone

I am very curious if i can get grandfathered in. Just started the 2G - unlimited data AND 200 text for $20?!?! MAN the good old days! Though no service discounts which sucks.

same thing for me once...it doesn't do anything, I don't think

Where does it state it will be overnighted? I don't see anywhere that it is being shipped overnight.

On my confirmation it stated that it will be overnighted by Fed-Ex. Though they did state that delivery will be as early as June 24th it did not guarantee June 24th delivery date. And the stated that the order is prone to first come first delivery so ATT did not guarantee a delivery date.

ATT did not send me an E-Mail confirming my order. Did it go through or does it mean that my order was never placed since I did not get an E-Mail cofirmation.

Like I said earlier, on the page where you enter billing/shipping information before placing the order, there was a "Shipping Notice" bulletin in the bottom right that said something along the lines of (my best paraphrase from memory): "iPhone 3GS 8GB and iPhone 4 pre-orders will ship via Standard Overnight for delivery on June 24th."

I'm more concerned with actually getting a phone relatively quickly (sometime before July, I'd hope) rather than having it for the very first day it's out. that said, AT&T did say it would arrive on the 24th and I am expecting them to fulfill that promise.

I'm starting to get worried that when I go to the Apple Store around 1 on Thursday the 24th after work, that there won't be any left, even though I pre-ordered one

Is it normal to get this msg when checking order stauts ..i placed order 203 hours back and got email confirmation for att but when i try checking my order this is what i get

How could you place an order 203 hours back?? ATT did not take orders untill 1AM on June 15th.

It takes up to 24 hours for orders to show in your account. Check on June 16th to see if ATT has your order

FINALLY!!!!!

I was able to place the order via Apple.com and it worked! It's about time, I can't even count the number of times I have tried submitting the order.

i got up early this moring (5am) and was able to order one at att and reserve one for pick up at the apple store (which i really don't want to do) i'm going to keep both orders untill att convinces me that they will get it to my that thursday - what do you think the chances of that are?

i was also wondering if there are going to be huge shortages of the phone - if so perhaps i should keep both and sell one on ebay for a profit?? i think its kind of sleezy to do that - but if att worked properly i wouldn't have done what i did - its att's fault i'm a sleezeball.

I'm getting further in the process. After I enter my ph#, zip, and ssn, it takes me to a page that says you qualify for the $199 version and it shows my cell phone plan information on the right. But after that, nothing!

Went to an AT&T store, and was in-n-out within 10 minutes. On my way home I stopped by the Apple store to check on the reservation I made via iPhone App while standing in line @ AT&T, where I was told that even though I have a "reservation", I would still have to come wait in line with everyone else on the 24th, so basically the iPhone App reservation means nothing...
