Then you're a clueless EVO user. How many Mifi apps can you download on your non-jailbreak iPhone? How many tethering apps? It's stuff like that which Apple does its damndest to block from its users. Real quality apps that serve a real purpose. Available on Android, not on the Apple store.

How many would you need? MiWi is both of those combined into 1 simple to use no-strings attached app, and who cares if you have to jailbreak it? Everybody these days jailbreak their iPhones, it's a standard, it's fun, it makes our phones usable, same way Android users root their phones, and last time I checked, Android had NONE!

You have to root for tethering, and 'official' versions are usually the carrier supplied ones meant to charge you an extra 30 bucks on top of your current data plan, which we can happily avoid using MiWi on the iPhone, it's such an awesome app, honestly.

Jailbreaking your iPhone isn't a hassle for anybody, so there is no hassle or butthurt involved in jailbreaking, it's one click and your phone is pretty much the same, only you have a ton of extra features, and I'l be honest, part of the reason I own an iDevice in the first place is the incredible support we get from the jailbreak community, it's jailbreaking in the first place that makes the device so damn attractive, if Apple were to include all these features (though some of them can only be given by 3rd party wether we like it or not) I wouldn't really have a need to jailbreak, which would mean I wouldn't buy an iPhone because jailbreaking is fun and is productive.

This comment just shows how little you know about what you are talking about... There is a huge difference in battery life between the iphone 3G (or 3GS) and the ipod Touch 3G, and its because of one thing.... the 3G network. The 3G network drains the battery on the iphone extremely quickly, and it results in more charges. BUT the ipod touch 3G is not on any cellular data network, so you should get a dramatically better battery life on it. Yet you say they have the same battery life...

Maybe your ipod touch battery life is so crappy because you're one of those people that disconnects the device and connects it back every 5 minutes?

No but I leave it on wifi all the time. That shouldnt kill the battery like it does. And in comparison, I treat my wifes iPad in the same exact fashion and its battery doesn't drain like the Touche's does. What I'm finding amusing is all the attacks on my statements about the Touch's battery life and not one mention that the dolt's statement about 1 hour battery life on the EVO is BS. Depending upon what you do, the EVO will net you a good 6-10 hours of use per full charge. Not bad, not great. Unfortunately for me, my Touch has never managed more than a couple hours of doing nothing other than playing things like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, and Plants vs Zombies.

Thus I hope the battery life on the iPhone 4 matches up more with the iPad than with the lousy 3G(S).

When I enlarge the images, instead of seeing typical pixelation, there seems to be a blurring effect going on. The photos almost seem like paintings. (Kinda like the watercolor filter in image editing programs). Anyone else notice this? ... or maybe I'm just crazy :p

Stopped reading there. No they dont.

While the word "fanboy" can certainly be used every once in a while on these forums. It's not necessary to talk like that's the only word in your vocabulary.

In short, you can present your opinions in a much nicer way

No they don't. Stop being a fanboy. The EVO in perfect light takes amazingly good pictures. The EVO sucks in low light. We still don't know how the iPhone 4 fares in low light, but considering Apple hasnt bothered to take any and show them off, it can be assumed that it too sucks.

Speaking about fanboys ...

Then explain these. These are Evo pictures:

The first one:
The bright colors are washed out, the greens lack definition, and there is a sh load of noise in the picture.

The second one:
I don't know where to start. So much noise my ears are hurting, the whole picture lacks definition, and there is a major lack of detail on anything.
Those are completely untouched photos out of the Evo? That is incredibly bad - they look along the lines of the quality that comes out of my daughter's Fisher-Price toy digital camera, and that takes 640x480 images, only much larger. Unacceptable. How can Evo owners stand for this? I don't care about "it's only a phone," it's a VERY expensive phone and that kind of quality is ridiculous. WOW.

I estimate the iphone 4 has a pixel density of close to 40 MP/cm^2, which is the same as regular point&shoots you get today in the market. So, expect similar low light quality! Still pales to a DSLR.

What do you expect? Pro is Pro for a reason and phone camera is not made for that and one shouldn't expect that from a phone camera. As phone camera it's fine.

Which pictures are you looking at? Are you colour blind?

He's actually right. The pictures and the video look washed out, which I'm going to assume its processing being done inside the phone, and hopefully is configurable in settings, much like the EVO's camera can be configured.

As I keep saying, I hope to any deity listening that the next iPod touch has this devices battery, display and camera.
I've always worn my iPods to the point of breaking before getting a new one. Since the 5G was a tank I'd happily throw it into a volcano should the new iPod be this awesome.

The 720p video quality is truly great, I am very impressed. The quality is closer to my Flip Mino HD and is light years better than EVO.

30 FPS too, I counted :) Apple didn't cheat to get this thing out the door like HTC.

Images look very washed out compared to the Apple site examples. No surprise there!

I don't think you know the meaning of "washed out" if you can call these two images washed out. They certainly aren't "washed out"! In fact saturation and noise levels on these two samples are damn impressive for a phone camera.

These are the only similar type of shots I have on my N1: (click for full size)

Video is easily better on the iPhone 4.
The more iPhone 4 stuff that comes out, the harder it is not to get one.....

EDIT: Wordpress compressed the images. Original images added now.

They're washed out. It appears to be intentional. After looking at pics from both the evo and the iphone 4, neither impress me. Good thing I don't buy a phone for it's camera. I have seen pics taken with an add-on macro lens that attaches magnetically to the evo, and it blows both the evo and iphone 4 away.

Boy, the yet to be released 4th generation iPhone is really making the rounds.
It reminds me of the travelling gnome in the film 'Amelie'.

Nice comparison!
