Only problem is that Ray S. guy is a well known Apple "fanboy" and is completely called out for it. The 4S doesn't even really beat the S2, how can it compete with the S3? We have to wait for the next iPhone to see what the competition will be...

Oh, puh-leeze! The 4S runs circles around the Galaxy S II. Not even funny.

What is hilarious is that a nearly 8 month old handset will compete very nicely against the latest and greatest Android handset. So much so that iPhone 5 (or whatever) will absolutely destroy it. Then again, Android fans aren't exactly known for rational thinking. "Quad cores!" "2GB RAM!" "128GB storage!" they have yet to figure out that top-spec hardware with a mediocre OS makes for a frustrating user experience. Apple is able to optimize iOS to run smoothly on far less hardware spec-wise while giving the user a superior experience.

You have no credibilty so why bother posting? The GS2 is ahead of the 4S.

Not in terms of CPU, or GPU, or resolution, or ppi, or taking pictures, or taking videos, or available software, or security, or games, or voice commands, or accessories...

Do we really need to go down this road again Vegastouch? :)

I would take the Samsung over the iPhone in a drop contest any day of the week. When I hold the iPhone 4 it is a work of art but I feel that it's heavy and more delicate for it's footprint. For me cheap plastic does not matter because nothing is indestructible and I always use cases.
And to base your mini review solely on feel and look is a bit short sighted. Some of the most beautiful women look gorgeous on the outside but their devils on the inside.

And you?

I have owned both. 4S runs circles around Galaxy S II. I'm not alone in that train of thought.

Ummm...no you're not alone in that train of thought. Sheep are never alone. This is fact. But I find it hilarious you think the 4S runs circles around the GS2. If this was the case, then the GS2 would never have won the most coveted prize in the mobile industry The Global Mobile Awards 2012: Smartphone of the year. Funny thing is it also won phone of the year over numerous tech sites. So keep repeating your ignorance, you just may eventually convince yourself.
I love how people have no problem comparing the much newer 4S to the older GS2 but have a big problem comparing the 4S to the newer GS3. Sheep are such babies.

Your talking benchmarks again. Nobody cares about those but you (they mean nothing anyways as the GS2 was faster side by side) Even when you are shown your were wrong, you ignore it anyways so no, i dont want to see your reasons of insanity again because all you showed is your preferences.

DanteMann, I am not sure on what basis you think the GS2 beats the iPhone 4S. Literally every single technical aspect of the iPhone 4S is better/faster than the GS2. Can you explain your position?

first of all chill out dude, it's just a phone and people can get what they want. Not only that but an apple fanboi calling samsung buyers sheep is laughable at best.

I won't touch another iPhone without unlimited 4g data plan, and that's not happening so I'll be on droid until they pry my unlimited data from my cold dead hands. So for me Unlmtd 4G>iphone (no matter what droid it is)

Look you love your 4S. Great! But people like you are the type that judge Android phones based off the cheap cost nothing Android phones. Anyone that says the GS2 is laggy or buggy or just not that amazing, tells me right away they're full of it. All the tech sites could not possibly be imagining how amazing GS2 is. They can't be imagining that it is so incredible that it's chosen to be phone of the year. Crappy buggy laggy phones don't get numerous awards.
In the end, there is room for more than 1 or 2 phones at the top.

lol. are you sure you quoted the right post?

If you're comparing CPU and GPU, don't be surprised if someone brings up the relevant benchmarks. If you want to show real-world-usage, I can post some game images and videos showing the better graphics and processing if you'd like.

CPU - Benchmarks show iPhone 4S to be faster. Only the latest quad core phones beat it.

GPU - Benchmarks show the iPhone 4S to be faster than everything besides the to-be-released (in the US anyway) GS3.

Resolution - iPhone 4S has more pixels, this neither a benchmark nor a preference.

PPI - The iPhone 4S has a higher PPI, this is neither a benchmark nor a preference.

Taking pictures - By literally all photographic measurements, the iPhone 4S wins.

Taking videos - By literally all photographic measurements, the iPhone 4S wins.

Available software - Preference, while I have yet to be beaten on a point by point breakdown, if someone says "I demand widgets" the iPhone, for better or for worse, can't do that.

Security - By measurement of infected handsets, the iPhone wins.

Games - Not a preference. The iPhone 4S has higher quality games, measured in terms of quantity, graphics, frame rate, compatibility, and stability.

Voice Commands - Could be a preference. While Siri's dictation has proved to be better, if you want to be able to say "open angry birds" Siri can't do it. However, if you want to say "What time is my first meeting tomorrow", or ,"Remind me the next time I'm at my Dad's place to show him something cool on the iPad", only Siri can do that.

Accessories - By measurement of the amount and quality of accessories available, iPhone 4S wins.

c-mon man, DodgeV83 wants to see a benchmark and 30+ available camera apps and at least 5 different apps to take some simple notes and needs to know there are many accessories out there for everyday of the year. It dont matter that it won any awards for being a good device :D

So if I understand you correctly, I listed multiple categories where the iPhone 4S is better, and your sole argument against that is, "it won an award on a website"?

I am actually holding one in my hand right now.

It is the most ergonomic mobilephone I've ever come across, which is a novelty.
The most beautiful? No.

Honestly, the iPhone 4 and 4S are the most uncomfortable devices to hold. I used mine case-less when I owned them, so maybe with a case it would have been better, but yeah, ergonomically speaking, the iPhone was terrible.

I've owned the Sprint version and the AT&T version of the GS2.

They were both the last android phones I've owned.

The iPhone 4S is the better all around phone in all the areas that matter.

This is the classic Strawman logical fallacy. A straw man argument attempts to counter a position by attacking a different position – usually one that is easier to counter. The arguer invents a caricature of his opponent’s position – a “straw man” – that is easily refuted, but not the position that his opponent actually holds.

The argument has nothing to do with the GS2 being a good device. The argument I'm refuting is that the GS2 is a better device.

It didn't just win the award on a website, it's actually considered THE AWARD in the industry. It's the Oscars of the mobile world. Read about it, I can't hold your hand through this.
I only mentioned other tech sites just as an example of the collective thought in the industry in regards to the GS2. But the big daddy award is the GMA.

Here is a small description:

The ultimate mobile industry awards for mobile devices, recognise the combination of leading edge design, technical excellence & innovation, intuitive features and functionality, pricing, performance and ultimately user demand that come together to position mobile handsets and devices not just as market leaders, but as industry game changers

Anyone can win this argument. You wanna see how easy it is? Here you go:
I want a phone with a screen bigger than 4 inches and is snappy in performance. I want the screen to have the deepest blacks possible to give me infinite contrast. Anything less than what I described is completely undesirable and useless to me. Hence, to me, the GS2 is a better phone than the iPhone 4s.
See how easy that was? Bottom line, Better Phone = The Phone You Choose. It really is that simple.

Brother, i dont care what you do with your phone camera. That is OCD.

I couldnt care less about thousands of accessaries that most are garbage anyways. I have two cases, a car charger, and i got screen protectors when i got it and i have two extra batteries and i added a micro card i added Its all i need.

How many spare batteries do you have? How much memory have you added?
(I dont have a GS2 btw, thats what i have for my Galaxy S which is weeks away from giving way to a GS3 when it gets in the USA)

PPI?...i dont know what the numbers are but the screens looks good on both so i dont care. I dont need a score to tell me what looks good.

Ugh, your never ending insigificant benchmarks. I dont know what the scores were for either phone. All i know is the GS2 performs well and loads faster than the iPhone. Please do not post any game images. Im not interested. Your playing your games on a small screen so why waste the time?
The GS3 had a benchmark i think i saw of around 5500. I know that is a higfh number but im curious if you have a rebuttle and will downplay it or think it is great. Me?, eh..its a number that techs dont really put much stock in.

The GS2 won awards and BTW, i demand widgets ;)

I agree, which is why I asked what criteria you were using to make your statement. Are those your criteria, or were you simply making an example?

Exactly what your doing strawman. Arguing yours is better..and it is better. FOR YOU! Whenever anybody gives you facts about why something is better or you were wrong on your speeds you claim that iP4 is faster....you put your head in the sand and start all over again with this stuff.

Glad you like and are OCD over it when all you really need is a real camera. Apparently you are good at photography. Go get the right tools for your hobby.

Yes they are only a few of my criteria. But I also favor the near endless ability to customize without having to root/jailbreak, SD Card, and drag and drop with mass storage. These are thing iOS will never offer.

The GS2 won awards

It seems your statement is, "I don't care that it's better in those categories."

So you believe one phone can be "ahead" of the other, while being behind in CPU/GPU/Resolution/PPI/Pictures/Videos/Security/Games and Accessories?

Hey, if that's your opinion, I won't argue against you :)

I read this thread and think(while laughing) "look at these people fighting!"

It all comes down to PERSONAL PREFERENCES

As a GS2 user, I love my phone. And one more thing that I dont do is that I dont go around and promote my own phones and saying crap about other phones. I maturely smile at my friends when they look at me, disgusted, that i own an android while they carry their iphones.
