All they can sell you is a place in line (which you can give back to them for a full refund). I'm sorry if your BB wasn't up front about you about this, but mine was. The manager "expected" but "couldn't guarantee" my phones would be available on launch day. And lo and behold, 50% of my phones are available.
Personally I find this preferable to standing in line at Apple for 14 hours without a preorder (like I did for the iPhone 4), or setting an alarm for 3am so I can buy a phone and have it shipped to my doorstep today.
The unfortunate truth is that with a launch this big, and with demand far exceeding supply (which is already ridiculously large), you have two choices:
- Have patience, and get your model when your number is called
- Explore many alternatives, most of which are rather unpleasant, to procure a phone today
You need to be extremely lucky to put in the minimum effort and get a launch day phone with no fuss. I consider it a minor miracle that I even got one of my phones, given that I placed my order at around 2:30pm on Friday.
I got mine from Apple, so no problems here. And yes, if they are being totally up front about it, that's fine. But most most Buys are not, they just want your money.
