Wow, they need to verify their info before putting it up on the main site.

I am hearing a 3.7 inch screen with the current design but maybe thinner. A5 Chip running at slightly below the ipad 2. 1Gb Ram.

"A reliable source says that it actually won't be."

Not sure who's "reliable" here?

it would be too top-heavy....it would be awkward to hole both vertically and horizontally...honestly, they design would be a deal breaker for me. I love the iPhone 4 form factor - it couldn't get better in my opinion. Why not just upgrade the specs, better camera, A5 chip, etc? Overtime get LTE in there.
Also, with the screen being so close to the edge of the phone in the new design, it would be hard to design a good protective case for it.

I'm pretty sure that's what the iPhone 5 is going to be. The mock-up is more of a concept, and a bad one at that.

Let's be honest here, like all the negative postings about the iPhone4 being a horrid cheap and nasty Chinese clone that Apple would never produce.

whatever the next iPhone looks like, people will decide they love it.

No real reason to buy that. I'd need something radically different and better than my iPhone 4.

Problem is, I'm too happy with my iPhone 4.

With Samsung Galaxy S2 beating iPhone 4 both in thinness and weight departments Apple will probably have to do something (however meaningless this is) and wedge shape might be a solution. It's hard for Apple to come up with a design as slim as Galaxy S2 because of the thickness of LCD panels (compared to OLED ones) but they may try to go wedge in order to be able to claim that iPhone is thinner at the "thinnest point".

iPhone 4 is thin enough. So let forget about thinness and focus on performance. How about better antenna?

So if they kept the same resolution, would you really be able to see a big difference in what the iPhone looks like now? My guess is no...

I can't imagine that they would have another antenna problem on the iPhone 5...

Apple will sacrifice performance for thinness any time ;)

oooo

ok i realize most people seem to think this not reliable.. but man it looks good. I'm moving the the states in june and not sure if an iphone is worth the monthly money, it's a brick to carry around with you all the time. if they made it thinner, lighter and looking like that i'd get one!

Close... Apple will decide for you that you love it and you will have no choice in the matter.

Josh tweeted

Remember when we saw leaks of the iPhone 4 and everyone said how ugly it was? Yep...

I was among those that thought it was ugly, and that was an actual leaked device.

Save your breath for something a little more detailed than a mockup based on some guy's sketch.

So are you admitting your opinion has been proven hopelessly unreliable then?

Unless you take into consideration that not a single one of those phones sell even remotely as well as the iPhone.

That's not saying much when you only sell one phone. Android phones far outsell iphones so your point is blown out of the water. Nice try though

Duh?

I love you and Macrumors, arn. But you can't actually tell me in all honesty that you ever thought this was true.

My opinion is immaterial to the question, which is whether or not renders are worth staking opinions on for design decisions, they're not, as we've seen popular opinion massively sway multiple times once products are actually released.

The screen needs to be made bigger. Perhaps not 4 inches, but at least edge-to-edge in the current form factor. The black (or now white as well) vertical boarder makes the phone look terribly dated, kind of like LCD monitors from 2003

Actually, Macrumors track record with Apple rumors (when they are posting information from their sources) is extremely good one of the best on the Internet actually. I'd place them third after Gruber and Dalrymple when it comes to sources with Apple information.
