Alright I'm bored enough talk about the new iPhone 5 I'm ready to start talking about the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6!!!!

Look into MIUI ROM for Android. No gimmicks at all. All of the real benefits are under the hood, stuff you don't see and theres zero flash. I hate the gimmicky crap too.

You can't be serious. I just did a quick search and was presented with instructions such as "DO NOT WIPE YOUR SYSTEM. FLASH ON TOP OF 2.9.7. WIPE DALVIK", MD5 checksums, and a list of bug fixes as long as my arm.

Uh... I think I'll just use this phone Apple sold me that seems to work perfectly out of the box to do everything I need a smart phone to do, thanks all the same.

Are you the same guy who wanted to run an FTP server on his phone? HE was hilarious too.

Oh and... you do know you can jailbreak an iPhone and install whatever you want on it if that's really what you want to do right? right?

These are very primitive rebuttals. Have you read nothing I wrote in this thread?

So by your standards, my laptop keyboard isn't customizable enough because I can't move the keys around to where I want them. Now, on my rig I can change the color of the keyboard's lights, but that still wouldn't be enough for you, would it?

What's your point? I see a lot of writing I can't be bothered to read... my phone already works fine thanks.

And I'll say it again, you do realise you can jailbreak an iphone and install anything you damn well please on it? I know, why don't YOU write an awesome mod for it that makes into the phone of your dreams given you already seem to like talking about it so much?

Customization in my eyes goes well beyond widgets, which I only have *one* of on my android phone (a big transparent clock using a helvetica type font). I dont care for widgets myself, but I would never enforce the limitation on others to not have them if they so chose to.... unlike apple.

I'm talking about lockscreens, notifications, transition animations, keyboards and sizes, contact shortcuts and what is available when pressed, etc. Its a lot of the little things that make the *whole* experience awesome to *MY* liking, not Steve Jobs or Apple's liking.

My jailbroken iPhone can have all that and more!! And it's the simplest process like Absinthe 2.0. All you do is plug it in and click 1 button and wala, instant customization and the great Apple ecosystem combined in a awesome package unlike most cheap plastic Android phones!!
And don't come back with the "on android you don't need a jailbreak" when most stuff you need to do a root and do roms and all that junk which is WAYYYY more complicated than a jailbreak

Are you seriously upset because someone pointed out an area where the iphone could see improvement? What is wrong with you?

You nailed that one. Jailbreaking is 100x simpler than rooting and roms.

cheap plastic Android phones!!

Show me the benefits of having a phone made of glass that is known to completely shatter by falling a mere foot off the ground. As nice as the iPhone looks, the materials used for it require great care. Unfortunately your argument is moot because eventhough you said 'most' you still say in a manner that implies all, when in fact many are not.

Also, and oddly enough.... if you have such a problem with plastics, why is it that nearly every iphone i see is covered with rubber bands and other ridiculous enclosures that end up looking like the cheap plastic android phones you pointed out anyway?

And last, did you ever make this complaint before the iPhone 4, or did it only become a problem when you saw 'the new iphone' ??

Well done! Resort to the personal when you can't address the points being made to you.

(Here, I'll spell it out for you again: jailbreak an iPhone and you might have exactly what you want seeing as you're already a fan of 3rd part mods such as miui)

But actually, I'm not upset that YOU think it could be improved, I'm bemused that you think you have a point anyone might even be interested in. Obviously I chose what I wanted when I bought my phone, just as you did. If I wanted what you did I would have bought an Android phone, like you did. But I didn't, so the point is moot.

And last...

Is that a promise?

You are so transparent; you might have been believable had you stuck to one issue that you'd like to see changed... maybe you don't like the lack of customisation of the iOS ui (but we have a solution for that: jailbreaking remember?).

But now you move on to the materials and construction, so we can safely assume that no change or choice is going to make you choose an iPhone, so your only purpose here is to denigrate it for the sake of it. You're either a paid astroturfer or more sadly an unpaid troll.

Bye now.

There is nothing personal in my question. You, like many others are fuming because I raised the issue of areas where iOS is lacking and by that for some reason you like others are somehow personally offended by it and feel the need to go on the attack against me. I only see this abhorrent behavior on macrumors.

Jailbreak your phone all you want, it still doesnt have *all* the customization as Android does. An unrooted android phone still allows for far more customization than an iphone. But that doesnt concern me.

What I want to know is why are you so against choice.

Do you find meaning in life by being having an Apple logo or other attached to your character?
For the record, I dislike Android. And I think you have persuaded me to find a popular Android forum, sign up, and spend a great deal of time there. I think I will post regularly about the things I do dislike by poking at people who chose Android and make comments (like the one I have quoted) to make them feel inferior for not choosing an Apple product.
All for the sake of "thinking objectively" of course.

I already pointed out before that YOU guys are the ones who cannot touch on the lack of options in iOS instead resort to dodging the issue by bringing up android and the drawbacks of some phones.

I'll be blunt:

Quit dodging the questiong and bringing up Android when I specifically started the topic on iOS's lack of choice.

Hmmm.... I would have to agree with this somewhat. Base Android yes, but theres so many roms that its basically more like desktop linux. I think its a downright shame that apple's best product, OS X, gets zero recognition while their crippled version of it gets rave reviews. The publics got it all backwards, OS X and apple computers should be leading the pack, a perfect blend of some customization with great stability.

You need to quickly open up your own company and design the products that do away with all shortcomings of everything forever.

Would be a big success!

The masses are waiting for this!

I dropped my iPhone many times, even on concrete, hard surfaces with or without a case and it doesn't always crack. And when it does it doesn't "completely shatter". You usually get one crack which will spread on repeated drops.

And most people use simple bumper cases, which still lets you see the beautiful design of the front and back of the iPhone, while giving great protection. Even in cases like the Otter Box, an iPhone still does not look ANYTHING like an android. And besides, since when are androids indestructible? I've seen plenty with cracked screens too.

I'm just glad that you can find back pieces for the iPhone 4 on eBay for like $5 shipped to replace, and the front glass isn't much more then that. Apparently also the new design of the iPhone 5 screen has simplified install. Hopefully that will mean that cracked front glass will be even easier to replace!

They already answered your question. But the problem is you don't seem to grasp that:

(1) You can customize iPhone if you jailbreak it. It's simpler than rooting an Android, but you can't customize everything.

(2) They like stock implementation of iPhone.

It seems that you're the one who refuse to accept other people's choices. They don't want to deal with unrooting Android. In fact, they don't want Android.

And I can't get as many body kits or modifications on my Mercedes as you can on a Honda Civic... But at the end of the day - is customization all that matters? Or can all that customization make it look like a ricer.

Heck, maybe all those themes and increased customization on your Android OS will make your web browser faster - which need I remind you is what this thread is about? But in reality - it will probably just make your phone even slower, more inefficient and a battery hog.

Benchmarks dont make it or break it, especially since the last article Macrumors wrote got debunked by users posting higher benchmarks than Macrumors posted in the Samsung SIII comparison, thereby beating the iPhone 5.

Geekbench results can be manipulated, and the Fandroids have been known for blatant lies. Like when there were discussions about which phone came first, plenty of websites showed doctored photos of a Samsung phone being released in 2006 (year before the iPhone) when in fact it was released in 2007 (long time after the iPhone).

Oh, look, the S3 is below it. The 'turn over to mute' feature that is such a killer and puts it ahead of the iPhone 5 must be what slows it down.

Many women carry their phones in handbags, have the ring tone set to very loud because otherwise it can't be heard, and when they take the phone from the handbag while it is ringing, it is suddenly annoyingly loud. So what about a feature "reduce ringtone volume if the phone gets removed from a handbag"? Maybe by detecting that there is suddenly more light around the phone.

I'm not. I chose an iPhone.

Youre dodging the question again with an answer that is complete irrelevant!

There are obviously many iOS users who would like to see more options builtin, had it not been the cry for them, you'd still be stuck without having copy/paste and other features.

So I'll keep asking you, why are you against having choice in iOS?

Forger your own personal preferences, whatever options are brought forward wouldnt matter anyway, the CHOICE would be to use them or not, ie; launchap (its there, others like it, some dont, its existence doesnt bother anyone). I get the feeling that youre the type of person who would be very bothered by the existence of other options in iOS should they be implemented or if they have been already (and it doesnt look like you care.... and I wonder why??)
