Actually, now I've had my morning cup of tea, I can think a little clearer and think maybe I, and others have over reacted here.

Last year, the iPhone 5S sold out in an hour. This year, Apple have 2 phones, so straight away it's plausible for initial stock to last 2 hours as total pre-sales are likely to be split, not doubled, they probably have 2x more stock of each handset as well, or at least the 5C meaning day one stock could last 3-4 hours.

Also, this phone strikes me more as a choice for impulsive buyers. Those that wander into stores looking for a new phone, but nothing yet in mind, not gadget hungry chasers that sit in line for weeks and pre-order at 12:01:01am

Apple probably won't reveal numbers until after iPhone 5S launch either.

who cares how much you pay at contractual price (e.g. $99)

your monthly payment will be near that amount or even more. times 24.

the real concern is the how much the phone is at the bare.

at $500, that piece of plastic crap is way over priced.

Only Apple fans will buy this surly, I just tried to pick a colour and all of them will look like crap in 6 months....the white looks like crap now!

well it's nice to have the choice but can't get over people thinking this is a new phone, its the SAME as last years in a cheaper case! maybe that extra 5% battery and the HD front camera makes it all worth while lol

Apple sure have lost the plot, I hope they get taught a lesson by their loyal customers when sales are woeful..

I suppose if you are wanting a phone that supports 4G in the UK, then I can understand it, but the prices they are charging for the tariffs (except for Three) are ridiculous. It's exactly the same as the 5, with a plastic case.

O2 are selling it for £600! It's only £469 direct from Apple!.

I'm happy with my 4S.

----------

Agreed. A preference many seem to be ignoring.

I preferred the look and feel of the 4/4S over the 5. It feels more solid.

Is the front 5C camera really improved vs the 5? I thought the 5 had a 1.2mp, 720p video front camera too?

* iPhone 5c pre-orders are limited to two per customer.

Hahahahhahhah!! Who are they fooling? There's no money to be made in reselling this! Plenty of stock available. They should be happy if you want to buy more!

I am sat here in the UK working for a mobile network and unlike every other iPhone release we are getting next to no interest or calls relating to the 5c.

News flash, the majority just don't care.

Lets hope more do care about the 5S!

Yeah- what's with the prices on contract in the UK. Insane!!

Strangely, iphone 5 contracts prices fell sharply last year very shortly after release. Things were really competitive across the networks.

Based on the 5c contract pricing- I don't wanna know how much will be charged next week for the 5s!!

I figure this will sell pretty well. IMO it's about $50 too expensive but then again it's an Apple product so that's to be expected.

I sure am hoping they're not going to try to fleece customers around the world though; Apple Singapore sells the 16GB for $688 - what's that all about?

I think this phone will cement Apple as the leader in the US as it'll be the low budget option with subsidy. And it's bound to sell well overseas in the no-subsidy countries.

Think about it this way - last year Apple sold the 5 and the 4S for $100 less.

Now they're selling the 5S and the 5C for $100 less, and unlike last year the 5C is a completely new model. I have not seen it but considering the price and Apple's usual attention to detail I'll assume that the 5C is rock solid - same as or better than a Lumia in terms of build quality, very different from a Samsung "feels cheap but isn't" phone.

Don't sign up and wait for the money grubbing to stop. Greedy carriers, nothing new here... they're taking the money. That's all.

There only reason to buy the 5C would be for the 4G support. Everything else it offers is available on the 5 at a much cheaper price, and a nicer looking phone.

The 5S will be popular.

Plus it's cheaper than what the iPhone 5 was. However, the 5s is more expensive than what the 5 was. And again, design is just a matter of opinion.. just because you don't like something, doesn't mean no one else is allowed to.

It's not the exact same, but it is also at a cheaper price than what the iPhone 5 was. But yeah, the prices at places other than Apple are ridiculous. I'm sure they'll go down when the iPhone 5s comes out, if not before.

I agree, the 4/4s design is way better than the 5/5s. That's one of the reasons why I went for the 5c.

The 5c looks much better imo :).

I guess we'll only know the 5c sales figures for sure, when (if) they are released by Apple.

The fact that pre-orders are still available means nothing.. apart from the fact that Apple has stock.

It's very easy to create hype by artificially limiting pre-orders... "they sold out in 10 minutes!!".. which can reflect low stock, just as it can reflect high demand.

For all we know, there could have been the highest opening hour orders of an iPhone ever....?!*

[*I doubt it though...;) ]

Nope looks good. t-mobile is probably another cheap option along with three. Still surprised how expensive they are on contract though, I guessed free phone.

Yea but t-mobile is a 3G only brand of EE, I was trying to just cover 4G.

I think the iPhone 5c will be very successful; however, I am surprised to see how many people actually stayed up to preorder one. Granted, we are on macrumors.com, so posters tend to be more loyal and excited than the average consumer (hey, me included). But the reason I am surprised is this phone is not one its buyer stays up late to preorder. The iPhone 5c is not about the tech specs; it's about the approachability and fun of color. The iPhone 5s now comes across as high end or business, while the 5c is cheaper in price and casual. People with a 3G, 4, or 4s want to upgrade, and the 5c is attractive to them. People who still have feature phones and want to enter the smartphone world now have a "new" iPhone for $99. Apple has expanded its options and will reach more people. So, I expect the majority of preorders to happen during the day. I also expect a high amount of impulse buys in person. Finally, I think Santa will bring the iPhone 5c to many homes this year in place of iPods.

It's all speculation! Apple probably won't release individual sales for 5c vs 5s, but I am sure we can get a good idea from retail outlets, carriers, etc!

(And by the way, I can't wait to get my 5s)
