At 3:50AM EST my order (6-64gb-gray) went through via the Apple Store app.
Not as bad an experience as year's past but far from perfect.

I think those ordering the Plus are people that don't want to have (or cannot afford) both a phone and a tablet.

This has to be one of the stupidest things ever written. Whatever you have against the 5.5, has clouded your brain power.

Just looked at the Belgian store.
Pre-ordering starts the 26th September, yet I'm on a two year cycle, so I have to wait on the 6S and 6S Plus.

The thing that I saw was that here in Belgium, the 5.5" iPhone Plus with 64 Gb is priced the same as the iPhone 5S with 64 GB was last year.
While the 4.7" version is €100 less.

That makes the iPhone 6 Plus interesting here, although €899 isn't cheap.
Now I'll have to wait until the 26th Sept 2015 to order my iPhone 6S Plus :D

yes, they are giving 64GB this year for the same price as 32GB..the bigger capacity phones are essentially 100$ cheaper. Or, you get a bigger phone.

I have an account with AT&T Premier because of company discount. Was able to just log on to My AT&T, look at upgrade options, and order the 128GB iPhone 6 (not 6+) in Space Gray, scheduled for delivery on 9/19, Two yr contract, with no hassle whatsoever. No loading delays, no problems, "smooth as buttah."

Wife's line with Sprint does not come out of contract till 10/2. We are going with Verizon this time around. Should I pre order now knowing that they wont arrive till early Oct or later?

I admire you guys for buying such an expensive item without:

1 - Check if the product is good or not

2 - Make sure that the Quality control on the items are good in the coming months

3 - Check how good it actually feels

Success!

8:20AM EDT - just now ordered a 6, Space Grey, 128GB, AT&T from Apple's store website - success. This is after having no luck trying via both Apple and AT&T's sites from 3am - 3:45am this morning (EDT).

Ships by 9/19. Just FYI, folks.

Who cares, it's apple! Don't need to check.

Got my order in, the plus version is now 3-4 weeks shipping I can live with that.

1 & 2: it's apple, they stand behind their products

3: 14 day return period. Don't like it? Bring it back!

I think those ordering the Plus are people that don't want to have (or cannot afford) both a phone and a tablet.

They are also providing good entertainment value for others when taking calls - for those in the UK, I can't help thinking of this:

or people who want the better camera and better battery time ....

Before the keynote I was 100% sure to order the 4.7 one. We have in the household four iPads (2nd, 3nd, mini (1st) and air) - so no need for a phone that acts as iPad. After the keynote I was not sure anymore since camera and battery time are important to me. I made the paper cut outs and went forth and back in my decision - happened to be that at 3am ET I was for the 5.5. I currently use mainly the iPad mini - so you might be right that this phone might replace not only my 5s but also my mini (but it was not planed that way - just want to have the better features in the phone and I guess I can accept the size)

You mean, can you use hers? Yes. Of course you can. AT&T doesn't care. Just don't turn it on without calling them to have them assign that phone and sim to your phone line.

Source: I have been doing this with AT&T for YEARS.

Thank you for the info. We're on the same account with each having an individual plan with unlimited data. I purchased her 6+ on a 2 year upgrade and mine on the Next plan. Do you think this will cause a problem with AT&T swapping the phones? I need to get my 5s to gazelle before 10/10.

man i wish Apple would have stuck with their original business model of only selling un-subsidized, contract free phones.

They did…

…in Canada.

*chuckle*

That said, paying $950 with tax for the 64GB iPhone 6 is no joke. However, It will be good to not be forced to pay for a $70 minimum plan this time around. I've been buying on contract with Telus since the iPhone 4. Back then, it was a good deal, as it cost $150 and there was no minimum required plan. I had a total of $35 plan then ($25 voice, $10 data)! The iPhone 5 created a minimum of $50 plan (cost $180), and iPhone 5S was a minimum for $60.

Now, Telus is asking for $375 up front and $70 minimum plan! What's the users advantage of a contract under that scheme? I mean, after one month, you will have paid for half the phone already. May as well just pay for the full thing and give yourself the freedom to pick the carrier and plan you desire.

iPhone Pre Order

I have a order confirmation from AT&T and it indicates my iPhone 6 Plus will not ship until 10/2-10/13 so I am not sure if that is just a place holder or not.

I ordered mine at 2:41 but was in right as the site opened and had issues and I think it is really unfair that this happens EVERY time a major iPhone update happens their system craps out and people who have been waiting for an hour to log on get pushed out of the line and have to wait and end up NOT getting their merchandise like the were so hoping!

AT&T and Apple both need to work on some sort of system where when we log in with our account the system sees that when when there is a glitch it allows those that logged in first to receive the items first now it's just free for all first come first served and to me that is really BS!

This happened when the 4s came out and they had the same problems and you would of thought they would of learned by now!

I never could get either the Apple store site or the iOS app to go through, but Verizon took my order without even any substantial delays. We'll see what the e-mail confirmation says (once it arrives).

Turns out, we got screwed. Verizon finally mailed an order confirmation, and it says we'll get our phones in mid October.

Once again, this whole process went as poorly as the live stream of the announcement did. It's been, what, 7 years now and Apple still can't get this stuff right. It's beyond infuriating.

If you purchase a T-Mobile iPhone 6/6 Plus from the Apple Store and pay FULL RETAIL for it, then it is factory unlocked. If you purchase it from T-Mobile, and you pay FULL RETAIL, then it is factory unlocked. IF it IS NOT unlocked, you can request for it to be unlocked and there would be NO I REPEAT NO wait for unlock period of 40+ days.

It is ONLY locked if you buy it with Jump AND are making monthly payments and/or get it subsidized through T-Mobile. IF you make monthly payments on a T-Mobile device, then you have to wait 40+ days to call in and request an unlock. And even then they have a list of requirements for it like if you owe money on your account and other factors.

Please get your facts straight if you plan on providing information that can help/hurt others! Hope this helps.

Unless Apple / T-mobile has changed how this works since last year, when purchasing a T-mobile iPhone 5S from Apple last year, full retail price, it did not come unlocked, it was locked to T-mobile.

This is such a great example that all press (even bad) is good press. Apple loves that things didn't work quite right. It makes it look like demand was so high, they broke the Internet. Apple likes this preorder madness, down websites, delayed shipping, and sell outs.
